This video is a description of how to replace an alternator on a 1998 Honda civic LX. Perform this repair at your own risk. Posted for informational purposes only.
i like your method, I tried getting it out the top but that escalated to opening the power steering and removing the master cylinder which is well beyond my skill level. thanks!
Im changing my alternator on my 98 honda civic but i already tried taking it of from the top and it just doesnt come out i already removed the bracket as well
changed them multiple times on these cars and have always pulled it out from the top. It’s two 10mm bolts for the FPR and two more for the power steering line and your out. Also never removed the lower bracket for the alternator. 15 minutes job.
I had to do my alt on 96, had trouble, you know the getting it out ect. Gave up cuz i had to road fast and i just didn’t have the time. Took had it towed to an alt shop. That ripped me off for a $126 to rebuild it. Still didn’t work right. Anyhow, the dude told me you don’t have to lift the engine or motor mounts any of that shit. You take out two bolts on the firewall from the master cylinder of your brakes and just pull it up. Set it over to the side and take out your alt. I don’t think you need to even bleed them when you’re done. And that my friends is a $128 tip for your honda civics.

Hey man, I’m having the exact same problem with that bottom bolt seized, what’s the exact tool you used to cut it out?
What did you use to cut it with
Forget it…. Pull the master cylinder off and skip the motor mount and jack issue. You might need to bleed breaks a little.
Why are you filming this in the dark, ya tweak. 😂
If you watched the video you would have seen where we needed to soak some of the bolts overnight.....
