Great video, only one problem I think you should have included people who are against it, especially putting money into the hands of people. We all see what happens to people who win the lottery, complete turmoil. Its at best that reparations are put into programs that would benefit black communities long term such as better educational programs ( trade and college) and job creating programs in certain communities. But putting money directly into peoples hands is a disaster just waiting to happen.
The U.S. does not owe us reparations; we Caribbean Black People , Black Americans, & Black People In General Need to go after the BANKS & THE STOCK MARKET if we want reparations. ⚠️

While I appreciate the topic of reparations being considered for black people who are the descendants of American Slavery (ADOS) , Mr. Darity’s calculations are far to low. This country gave $450,000.00 each to those who entered the country illegally and where separated from their families. So $350,000.00 is insultingly low. ADOS are entitled to a multigenerational reparations plan similar to the one structured by Germany to survivors and their descendants of the Holocaust. Please note that Germany is still paying reparations to Holocaust survivors.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who was insulted by that figure. I want all of mine upfront and no payments. Lottery winnings get to billions on a few months. This country has the tangibles and it ain't hard to do.

So far as reparations for slavery are concerned, they are due from the original point of sale --Africa. Also for consideration is what their lives would be like if their ancestors had remained in Africa. Also, consider what their life would have been if they had come as free people. Most likely, it would be similar to the coal mining operation, where purchases from the company store would be deducted from their wages. It could also be similar to that of poor white people of the time. But that is another conversation.
So far as calculating wages for labor is concerned, food, clothing, shelter, medical, etc. would have to be deducted. The cost of the Civil War would also have to be deducted from the total. How about blacks paying reparations to the Union soldiers who fought in the Civil War? In addition, one would have to consider the state of the nation if it had not been bankrupted by the Civil war.
Also to be considered are the modern costs of the many race riots, as well as the ruination of many inner cities. There is also the cost of welfare, as well as the cost of incarcerating criminals, and the costs of the crimes that caused them to be imprisoned.
My ancestors left their homes,their FAMILIES, their crops in the fields, their friends. Left their wives to pay the bills,and taxes,and take care of the home and children. Just so they could go to fight for the UNION ARMY!!! My ancestors who fought didn’t ask for anything,but SOMEBODY OWES ME REPARATIONS 😂😂😂

Not just for slavery but for Jim Crow, homestead act, gi bill, sharecroppers etc. Other groups got reparations.
Im going to add include Rosewood, Black wall street, Tulsa, the devils punchbowl, seneca village, lake lanier, and every other event where white mobs burn down entire towns, killing most of the black residents or driving them out. And then laws were made to where the residents could not build again because of red tape. They lost alot of homes, assets and family members. At least with reparations, those who could be still living, and their descendants could receive some compensation. It wont heal anything. But 300,000 sure would help.

First, the Homestead Act? Really? Does anyone here even know what the Homestead Act is? Because in terms of reparations, I don't think you can get reparations for a government act that gave away free land for simply living on it for 5 years.
The GI Bill, same thing. You can't exactly have reparations for a government act that makes college educations free, for serving in the military.
As for the Native Americans, well...take that up with the Bureau of Indian Affairs. At least with the tribe I'm related to, the land is protected land.

The Caribbean was taken by France, the British and Spain. The US own portions now like Puerto Rico but even still that's a different claim. The damage done wasn't the same, and they purchased it after it was conquered by Spain. Same scenario with the other islands they own. That's 2 different claims.
They feel it's divisive because for so long they've benefited by tethering to us and undermining us at the same time. They fear they will be left behind and have to face the yt man without our protection. This is why many flee their Countries instead of fighting.
I respect my brothers and Sisters in the diaspora, but some of you come here with the sole purpose of selling us FBAs out, and siding with the yt man for crumbs. This is why we have to vet who speaks and represents us when it comes to this claim. Unfortunately, we have to check the backgrounds of these people, because many are sent to deceive, and destroy our claim.
Any black person that states we don't need cash payouts as part of our reparations claim. Should be immediately checked, and if they are not FBA, they shouldn't speak for us regarding reparations. And this includes Sheila Jackson Lee, because she is of Jamaican descent and is technically not eligible to receive reparations from the US government anyway.

When it comes to the whole 40 acres and a mule; Special Field order 13 that was signed by General Sherman after him and black union soldiers burned Georgia to the ground, stated that we were supposed to receive 400,000 acres of land.
The only way that field order could be revoked legally was by an act or congress. The President had no legal authority to rescind that field order.
So in a legal context, we are owed the present day value of that 400,000 acres.
Reparations would only deal with that, but black society still has valid claims of genocide that has happened several times since the end of reconstruction. This issue has been allowed to fester for so long it's ballooned to this point, and ultimately it is not the concern of the group wherein they've been made to consume the failure of the nation for centuries. And reparations is more than money. Part of reparations is the protections to that wealth and access to the vehicles of further wealth creation and injection into the American economy. If the value do the dollar drops that would cause inflation, no doubt, but America would stop relying on foreign capital for investment, mostly because the foreign markets investing, but I believe it actually makes us more competitive as a nation in the long term.

It’s not just Black Americans. Many Japanese Americans during WW2 were held in internment camps due after having their homes annexed by the government under the guise of eminent domain. They received reparations, however, were not justly compensated under the Fifth Amendment clause. The government has yet to take this into consideration. We all know the current system is made to compound over time and make the fortunate who had FHA insured loans even more fortunate. America will likely not pay up because America doesn’t give a shit about black people and other ethnic minorities existing in its boundaries.
