  • Upgrading the Maverick Strada EVO MT brushed to a GoolRC brushless setup. The motor is 3900kv and the ESC is 60 amp. Can run on either 2s LiPo or 3s LiPo.
    Watch a review of this upgrade in my video after lots of testing: • HPI Maverick Strada EV...
    This is the Goolrc motor and ESC that I used in this build:

    Hi, do you know if the original radio MRX-243 can take 5.8v supply from a brushless esc?

      I have used the MRX-243 on a brushless setup and works well 👍

      @@budgetrccars9385 i am going to upgrade too, again thank to your video, probably the BEST and well explained in utube. i got goolrc 3500KV, i think it will be very similar. what pinion/gear do you have? have you tried it with a 3s lipo? do you think it could work or burn up?

      I'm glad you are going to do the upgrade. The Maverick Strada is terrible on a brushed motor and esc setup in my opinion. This upgrade will really make you want to use the RC Truck more!
      The 3500kv motor is perfect, I recommend the 3900kv motor only because when run on a 3s LiPo you will get the maximum speed that the motor is designed to produce. The motors are rated at a maximum speed of 50,000rpm. A 3900kv motor will run at 49,140rpm on a 3s LiPo, your 3500kv motor will run at 44,100rpm on a 3s LiPo. To do the maths = 3500 (kv) x 12.6 (LiPo voltage) = 44,100rpm. In theory your motor should produce more torque and faster acceleration compared to my 3900kv but you may not notice any difference in real life.
      I run on the stock gear and pinion in my truck.
      It will be fine to run on a 3s LiPo, I run mine on a 3s LiPo. The motor will get hotter and if you run in long grass for a long time it the will get hotter again. If worried then feel the temperature of the motor after running for 5 mins. I added a heatsink and fan to my motor just for peace of mind and coming from a pc overclocking background I always prefer to keep things cool where possible.
      The heatsink I used is: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motor-Cooling-Heat-Sink-Heatsink-Top-Vented-540-545-550-Size-For-1-10-RC-Car-NE/283156592537?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=583563662083&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
      Then buy a 6v fan and plug it into a spare slot on the receiver.
      Good luck!

      In theory also the original brushed motor and ESC should work on a 3s, am I wrong?
      By the way, I will try it on 3s. Should I worry about gears in differential?
      Last question, what pieces do you think.breaks first in this car, so to buy in advance spares parts? Tnx

    • @budgetrccars9385
      @budgetrccars9385  Před 5 lety +2

      The original brushed esc will not handle a 3s LiPo. It can handle a maximum of 8.4v only. A 2s will work ok. Don't worry about the differential gears they are tough.
      Weak points on the truck are the dog bones, front of the chassis (see part 2 video), the front hubs and stress from heavy impacts from jumps. Usually the screws on the shock towers can loosen or be ripped out of the shock towers from heavy landings. The MT has a design flaw where when the shocks are fully closed the belly of the chassis won't touch the ground. On most RC cars you hear the belly whack the ground on a high jump but the MT just takes the abuse through the shock end point fixings. Not much you can do about this.
      The screws on the front hubs come lose and fall out all the time for me really. My next video is about changing the front and rear hubs to alloy replacements.
      My advice would be to get a selection of different length m3 screws, a pair of front lower suspension arms, a pair of dog bones, a wheelie bar and a set of alloy front and rear hubs and hub carriers. Also try not to crash ha!
      Spare parts are cheaper if you search for HSP 94111. They made the truck. HPI just made their own body shell and put their own branded stickers on it.

  • @creative_expressionproductions

    Thanks for this. I am just about to undertake the same upgrade for my Strada MT. I gather the exact parts will do the trick? I am looking to upgrade the stock battery also to this: www.amazon.ca/HRB-Battery-3000mAh-Truggy-Airplane/dp/B07Q1F8FVS . what charger do you recommend for it?

    Would this motor work on my maverick strade tc?

    • @budgetrccars9385
      @budgetrccars9385  Před 5 lety

      Yes this motor will work in the TC. Get a 3900kv motor because then you can either run with a 2s lipo or 3s lipo.
