    Really informative series of videos on the maverick strada, 1 question reference the Diffs Did you change the diff oils and if so what weight oil did you use? I can't see anywhere in your videos where you mention diff maintance, I've just picked up 2 strada's and 1 I have already converted to almost the same as yours, I've installed a 3670 2500 kv motor but I'll be sticking to 3s. 👍

    Great video again!! Does this upgrade solve the horrible wheel wobble due to space between hex pin and hub bearing?

    • @budgetrccars9385
      @budgetrccars9385 Před 3 lety

      I believe I put a washer between the bearing and pin to reduce wheel wobble. The alloy hubs were a pain to get right tbh and in my opinion I would recommend replacing bearings to reduce wobble that way. All cars seem to suffer wheel wobble to some degree and as long as the car is still driveable then try to live with it 🤣

      @@budgetrccars9385 thanks for your reply. I've found some possible replacement parts on AliExpress that ship with bearings also. Maybe I'll get those. Wheel wobble is such a silly thing to have to out up with TBH considering the amount of precision engineering that goes into the car parts.

    • @budgetrccars9385
      @budgetrccars9385 Před 3 lety

      Sorry but I can't help with this. I have heard of others having this same problem however I have no such problem with both of my identical models. The problem may be that when the suspension goes up and down that maybe the drive shafts are not long enough and they might come out of the drive cups enough to cause wear on the drive shafts. You could try placing tiny rubber o-rings in the cup that does not have wear on the end of the drive shaft and then insert the drive shaft as normal. This is to stop the drive shaft moving too far out of the drive cup which then causes wear on the drive shaft. I don't know whether there is enough room to do this but it's the only advice I can offer. Hope this helps 🙏

    These are great cars, I have found the servo saver to get stuck a bit and for the steering to seem like it drifts out of trim - a bit of grease inside the spring clip seems to help - otherwise the spring effect isn't always strong enough to pull it back to centre properly after the impact.

    • @budgetrccars9385
      @budgetrccars9385 Před 4 lety

      Hey, you need to check you have all the dog bones in place. (google dog bone shaft if you don't know what they are) There are five in total, two on the rear going to each wheel, one long dog bone going down the centre and two at the front going to both fronts wheels. If all are in place then check the drive cups at each end of the centre drive shaft. The drive cups have a small grub screw on one side and you may find that the screw on the front drive cup is loose but check both front and rear. If that is not the problem then it could be the front diff but the diff's in these trucks are quite tough so there could be parts missing if the diff is the problem. To test if tightening the drive cup helped hold one rear wheel tight and turn the other rear wheel by hand. The front wheels should then turn.

Both of them come from China so beware of delays and possible import duty as they are valued over £15 when importing to the UK. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-10-Rc-Monster-Truck-Wheels-Tires-Set-for-Ecx-Ruckus-4wd-and-2wd/323658719501?hash=item4b5b90210d:g:lnoAAOSwBARbQqz9 www.ebay.co.uk/itm/103mm-Rubber-Tires-Tyres-1-9-Wheels-for-1-10-RC-Crawler-Monster-Truck-Car-F/163134512462?hash=item25fb931d4e:g:GnEAAOSwkfxb5Mfr

    Can you explain what you have done to upgrade your batteries from Nickel Metal Hydride

    • @budgetrccars9385
      @budgetrccars9385 Před 4 lety

      To change the batteries you just buy LiPo batteries. If you are running the stock brushed esc and motor setup then you will need 7.4v 2s LiPo battery with a Tamiya connector. If you have upgraded to a brushless esc and motor then you can run either 7.4v 2s or 11.1v 3s LiPo batteries (depending on the Kv and rpm of the motor) with a (very likely) Deans connector. You'll also need a new battery charger. Let me know what you setup you have in your truck and I can advise 👍😊

      @@budgetrccars9385 Thanks for the videos, I have the Evo S model so a brushless motor comes standard so no upgrade there but the rest I am essentially copying yours, for now however going to stick to NiMH as lipo balance chargers are expensive.

    • @budgetrccars9385
      @budgetrccars9385 Před 4 lety

      I think your truck's esc has HXT connectors and I believe you can only use 7.4v 2s LiPo batteries. The chargers are expensive at around £35 and so are the batteries at around £20-25 but they are worth it and worth saving up for. You can charge a battery in an hour and they run at full power until flat. Even though a LiPo and a NIMH battery are both 7.4v the Lipo has more of a kick and will give the car a higher top speed (1-2mph at most but noticable.)

      @budgetrccars9385 Před 4 lety

      Sorry missed this reply but probably too late now however I would go with the fastest and most powerful servo your budget will allow. I went slow and powerful just because I wanted the truck to turn in long grass.

      Have you managed to try out your truck yet? Don't be disappointed with how slow it is with the brushed stock motor and esc. When you upgrade to brushless it transforms the truck. Also try not to jump the truck too high keep it to a maximum of about 2ft at most. Its not really designed for jumping too high.

    Are you running axle extenders on this and if so how are they holding up?

    • @budgetrccars9385
      @budgetrccars9385 Před 4 lety

      Yes I am running 25mm axle extenders and they have worked really well and had no problems. The reason why I extended by so much was that I found the car was rolling over on cornering far too easily. The down side is that running flat out in a straight line its not as stable as before because the setup is wider. Its still good for speeds upto 35mph but when you try to push past 40mph it just ends up in a spin. (at least it doesn't roll over 😂) I had to modify the extenders to fit as the cars axles are thicker where the axle pin goes through (see link below) compared to other brands/models so you have to drill out the axle extender before fitting. It's tricky to do but I managed with a ring ended spanner and a cordless drill. A pillar drill with a clamp to hold the axle extender would be the perfect way to do it. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BSD-Racing-REAR-AXLE-BS213-005/313025025312?hash=item48e1bed520:g:ZXYAAOSwiMteaPO6

      @@budgetrccars9385 After seeing yours I took the plunge and bought some. I've not had any problems with speed instability but like you I had to mod the extensions because of the shoulders on the axles. I'm quite happy now with the BSD cars but another way to stop it flicking over is change to some harder tyres. This makes a difference as well. The BSD's may not be the top cars out there but mine is as tough as old boots and I really like the price of the spares. Definitely good bashing cars.

      For a (relatively) cheap car the desert assault is pretty strong. The only part I have broken a few times is the diff gearbox bulkhead where I have snapped the suspension arms off the bulkhead. So if you do jump your car then best to keep a spare in your parts box. Part no. is BS213-010 and is about £4-£5.

    • @budgetrccars9385

      If you want to run 2s and 3s LiPo then you will need a 3660 sized motor under 4000kv and an ESC which is either 60 or 80amp. If you want to run 2s, 3s and 4s LiPo's then you'll need a 3670 sized motor 2000-2500kv and an ESC which is 120amps. Start off with 2s LiPo and work your way up so you get used to the power. Most of the chinese brand motor and esc combo's are good and I use the GoolRC and OCDay branded ones. You can find these on Ebay and Amazon, they are cheap and take the abuse well but don't expect them to be water proof even though they state they are.

      It's all stock except I did have to change the pinion as the shaft on the bigger motor was 5mm instead of the stock 3mm. I used the same tooth pinion though which off the top of my head was a 13T. I can only use about half throttle on the transmitter though and that is why I can make the truck wheelie at any speed. I enjoy driving it though but you have to be careful. I am sure it could do a standing back flip and maybe one day I will try but I'm not really a fan of breaking things just for the sake of it. Glad you enjoyed the video and thankyou! 👍😁
