    Great Interview Andy! Thanks for doing this with Jon. This had me reaching for my copy of Guitar Lore by Denis Sandole.

      Thanks for watching Randal. Jon's books of solo guitar arrangements are great. I have the first two but there are now 2 more. I guess you've probably seen Jon play some of these arrangements on CZcams. Mr Sandole taught some great musicians!!!

    Andy - this is wonderful. I like how you let Jon tell his stories and impart his knowledge. I had the chance to do workshops with Jon and Allen Hinds during the pandemic and it was such a great experience - turns out I get to see Jon tomorrow night as Steely Dan visits Michigan. Jon is such a great guy - patient and very good at explaining things. I was impressed is he was always continuing to learn things and look at them a different way.
    Anyway, your patience in your interviewing process and knowing where to jump in is really impressive - I found this on Jon's website by the way and now am a subscriber!

    Excellent interview. Interesting to hear the rationale behind altering the "Peg" solo so that it becomes a hybrid of both Jon and Jay Graydon's styles

      Thanks for watching Russell. Jon is a very thoughtful player. His own CDs are well worth a listen. I transcribed a few things of his but there wasn't time to get into everything I'd prepared..... next time!

    Great interview... Big Jon and SD fan! I transcribed his Bucket Song solo, there's open strings in that one too. It's a great nugget, he plays some very sophisticated things in it, and he's soloing basically over an Eb 9th chord with a chromatic climb from Db9. I'd love to ask him his thinking behind it. I love what you're doing. Keep it up!

    Jon, you have a following that you don’t realize. You are in my top five of guitar players which I’m sure you know shifts around, but you never leave that group. I’m glad you survived the quintessential smart alecs of Walt and Don. I also am a Guytron user and have a Gibson semi hollow that I am falling in love with along with the ubiquitous Strat. Andy, thank you so much for this interview! I learned a lot. Subbed.

      @@AndyGJones Thank you Andy. I’m sure I’ve heard your work and just didn’t know it. We’re all guitar students really, aren’t we? What do you consider your best work for me to listen to?

      @AndyGJones  Před 2 lety

      @@tomcoryell Hi, most of my work has been playing on other people's music - a lot of live DVDs, few of which are really representative of how I'd choose to play. I'm working on my own record - I have some great guests - Albert Lee, the rhythm section of the Bros. Landreth, Patti Revell (my missus!) etc.... will keep you posted. Thanks again. Andy

    Amazing what information a good interviewer can get out of a great but soft spoken guitarist. You could consider a new career in general profile interviewing!

      Hi Jon. Thanks for the kind words. I'll stick with playing the guitar for a living but I do have plans for more interviews - I have some biggies lined up. Glad you liked it - Jon is a great player but he's a thinker as you witnessed here. All the best. Andy
