  • Sting’s guitarist for the last thirty years Dominic Miller was kind enough to take time to catch up from his hotel room in Rome while on tour with Sting. He was very generous with his insights and his stories from his years as a session player and sideman. We focussed on his excellent solo albums too and there were great nuggets of advice from his experience as an artist on the ECM label.
Please check out Dominic’s new album ‘Vagabond’. -you won’t regret it. www.dominicmiller.com

The best interview with Dominic I’ve heard. Ten Summoner’s Tales is an absolute landmark album. My friends and I learned so much it, we were forensic about the parts.

@@AndyGJones Thanks. I like all the people who recommended it, I'll have a look next time. I forgot to mention that I'm glad you picked up Dominic's 'Clandestine'. It's my favourite song too, so I'm really glad to know more details about it.

It was a very interesting conversation. Personally, it was in some ways more interesting than Rick Beato's interview with Dominic. This is because in Rick's interview, Dominic is a bit more formal.
This was good because I wanted to know more about how he coaches his band members and about the ECM engineers.
However, I had to laugh at the part in the email from Pat Metheny. Dominic has had a great career but is completely unaware of it.
I really like that about him. In front of Metheny, he seems to go back to his childhood when he first started playing guitar. It was really funny.

Ah thanks for watching and for the kind words. I really enjoyed this one - Dominic is an inspiring musician. I'm definitely going to watch this one again myself. If you like this interview, you might like the ones that I did with Jon Herington of Steely Dan, Eric Johnson, David Grissom and Oz Noy.
