I put Öhlins back and front, wider pegs, throw away the emission crap, new exhaust and a flat seat. Love the punch in low revs. Love the raw feel of the motor, keep it between 4-6000 and it will deliver quality-time 🙂

The best touring bike I've ever owned, it keeps your speed in check and is ok off road, above all an enormous range (best 320 miles) and a very comfortable riding position.
My longest day was Berlin to London, I kept seeing the same Dutch Superbikes coming past fast, then again two hours later and a second time at the Belgium border, the only difference was I hadn't stopped and never exceeded 80 mph.

That's a shame we don't get this one in North America. It would be a good competition to the KLR650. That being said, if you have the money, The Tenere 700 with the 2cyl CP2 engine is one of the best engine overall and in an adventure bike... It's an absolute monster.

@@KRANKiT Yes especially the front with progressive springs and heavier weight oil. Also I put braided lines and Castrol reactive high performance brake fluid in makes a massive difference to the brakes . Went up a tooth on the front sprocket ⚙️ better for highway use , just makes it not quite as good on the trails 3rd to low 4th a bit high in the tight stuff . But it’s a compromise. The long range tank holds its weight down low when it’s not full , gives a distance of around 550kms, in Australia 🇦🇺 we need that. I have arrow pipes on as well and air box mod , B&B bash plate , crash bars , SWM 650 screen fitted , front guard and gear leaver . Rear rack , adjustable levers , fold in mirrors 🪞. Very nicely done video, I am really impressed! However, Xt 660 has more issues, like limited choice of off road oriented tiers for the rear. Issues with chain & tensioner in the valve drive. There are better motorcycles out there for around the word voyage in my opinion, especially if you want to stay on dirt roads/single tracks more, like dr650, drz400 or even 690/701. You can build them for on road, while with Tenere you are not going to overcome design flows in off-road!

The tenere needs modifications to make it decent. The overall set up is good. Do yourself a favour and replace the suspension straight off the bat. OILINS SUSPENSION front & rear, you will be pleased, the handeling improvement is out of sight, Next high flow air filter, Barrett products 2 into 1 single exhaust system Get rid of the standard duel pipes, they weigh a ton, restrict the engine and they don't do as much for pollution as claimed. Congratulations you have now shead 10kgs, gained 10-13 hp, improved the handling out of sight and reduced fuel consumption. The double disc front brakes are excellent, the layout is excellent. Fit handle Bar rises 2"" for me. When you standard on the foot pegs the bar is positioned at the right height ergonomic so it's not a chore to hold and become fatigued.. Bark busters saves the break and clutch leavers. Radiator guard, sump guard bash plate. Now the Tenere is decent & I will kick the ass of more powerful bikes like the tenere 700 anyday of the week I have it all over them in the bush. She leaves Suzuki DR 650s for dead, my only real opponent is the KTM 690. Last thing or first? tyres, Dunlop 606s are the go, tube tyres they grip in dirt and improved handeling out of sight The Tenere 660 was cheap for a reason. It's a great starting platform

I don't recommend it for inexperienced riders you will kill yourself no joke. Flat out in the desert look at the name Tenere, not Tim-Buck-too. Set her up right? and she will do just that. But if your not going to do that? Then stay well clear I would say.
