What do you think about painting it the same color as the walls?
IT would look better if it was diferent colour
I like this cabinet painted the same colour as the walls, but I think it has a lot to do with the paint colour.
Not a big fan as it is but I think this is due to the color chosen. Eventhough I like it on the wall, I think it doesn't match the stained plywood.
I think if it was I couple shades darker of a green! It almost looks washed out being that same muted green as the rest of the room.. it can be a built in look by caulking all of the edges that meet the walls and finishing it similar to board and batten wall treatments.. but definitely a different color
Honestly love the green but I think having the bottom cabinets green and the shelves on top walnut would look nice.
In my opinion, Irinia is right. All green with contrasting shelves is perfect. Always enjoy your videos from here in France Keep doing it !!
Glad you like them!
i really like it but it would have looked better in a satin or more matte paint
I’m with your wife on this one. Wrapping the room in one moody color made it feel cozy and less cavernous. Also, when your cabinets are the same color as the room, it feels more custom and purposeful. There is a whole world of Ikea hack tutorials that involve painting the flat pack furniture the same as the walls because it makes it feel more expensive.
She was spot-on with the color choices. The whole idea was for the build to look like it was part of the existing room, and the contrasting walnut finish made it look like the whole room wasn't just painted with the green.
I was with you up until the reveal lol and then once it was all up, the accent shelves really work and break up the space nicely. Great build overall though, looks fantastic!
Irina wins this one, matching the wall color gives that “it’s been here 100 years” built-in look like an old Craftsman style home. Gorgeous. And I really appreciate that you show us all the mistakes you make because it helps me think I can do this too. The only thing I think I would add is some crown molding to the top edge for a more finished look.
She was right about the colors. But even the shelves would've made it even more convincing in the same color
I like the look like Irina said….one thing in my opinion I would have done different is for the top 4 cubbies above the tv, I would have had a single piece of trim along the bottom of all 4 cubbies to look like one floating shelf instead of the paint breaking up the sections….but besides that I love the whole built in
Yes this is the only thing i kept looking at! Overall amazing project
Agree 100%
Love these built ins. It would be great to add estimated labor hours to complete the project to your breakdown at the end.
Noted!
I love it! Probably because it's my favorite color. But she was right the stain adds a nice contrast
Wow. I want one so badly ❤❤
There is no question that whatever you build is a piece of art. You are very talented and skilled. The colours are obviously debatable because we all like different things. I personally am not a big fan of green furniture. But I have to admit this shade of green with brown looks stunning.
The green color was the correct decision IMO
Your wife nailed the colors on this one! The only change I would recommend would be to make fillers between the wall and the shelves. It would make it look more a part of the room. Other than that, the design, build and colors are fantastic!
Mrs Design it is absolutely right. Let the shelves look like they are floating. That is high end.
Looks good just think it needs a crown at the top to finish it off
I Like the look of the green with the contrasting shelves. I think if you did a different color the wood stained shelves wouldn't have looked as good and the whole built in would have had to be just one color.
Also, just built myself a new desk after learning a lot from your videos!
MRS.M is right all green with the contrasting shelves looks a lot better
Love the green built in with the stained shelves 👌
Wish I had your talent. Well done
The green works well.
I think you made the right decision RE the paint colours and the stain accent. Love it!
The colour of the cabinet looks built-in when it's the same as the walls.
I would have chosen to put the vertical pieces completely against the wall with a trim piece as a spacer to get the full built-in feel
Came out really nice!
2:50 put a cover plate on that outlet!!!! 😉
Great Job. Looks Great!
I think the matching color with contrasting shelves is the right choice.
I also like it to blend with the wall
love the same same color as the walls - she wins!
Love it! Great job - This is the first example of an elevated center section which is exactly what we need!! We have vent returns on our main wall and this will look PERFECT! Keep up the great work - very inspiring!
Appreciate the video. I am currently trying to decide on building my own cabinets or buying the cabinets. I am almost to build my own lol. Your price break down is great. Thats way cheaper than buying.
Love the color and how it blends into the wall. Makes it look extra custom and luxe. 👏🏽
I love how the built In is the same color as the walls!!
Another great video. It's next on my to do list. Thanks for sharing these great ideas.
I think a white ceiling would be a great look. The built in is badass though...
Wifey was right.. the thing looks awesome.
Awesome looking 👍
I love the built ins. I think your wife nailed it with the color selection for having it match.
I love that the built ins are the same color as the walls!
I like the contrast of the shelf and the cabinets matching the wall! I want to do white built-ins in my family room and with this breakdown of costs it's a heck of a lot cheaper to diy it especially if you have the know-how and the tools!
i love that it blends into the wall as if it’s an extension of the wall itself. also helps with any visual clutter!
Love the project cost breakdown.....not many do this!
I want a video on you moving those vents and all that to another part of the room
I love watching your videos, I love how u break down EVERYTHING!!!
You covered your wall vents. You could have made the drawers shorter, and made cutouts at the bottom and had the air flowing into the room through the cutout with a decorative mesh or something over it. It would have added the air flow and that little something extra to the cabinet.
You, and your wife, are extremely talented! Always impressed! Well done!!!
We love the color choice and it adds so much storage space! Excellent work spraying that smooth finish!
Just as I was planning on building my own built in ❤❤
Thanks for the video. From 🇿🇦
Best of luck!
Looks awesome
good stuff! pro-tip; for the wall mounted TV in living/family rooms/lofts=couches...40 inch from floor @ center keeps it flat on the wall, no ugly tilt and minimize neck strain ...
bedrooms a bit higher for comfort/furniture clearance as needed
Loved the green combined with the stained wood, & wood floors. Great build again.
Loved it being the same color as the wall, since you have a warm brown in there it looks really great. Great job!
Nice layout.👍🏻
I'm with your wife. Looks awesome!!
I think white or an off white cabinet with the walnut stain would have looked chef's kiss!
Looks dang good!!
Outstanding instruction video and the artwork makes even better!
photo shop it and see it before you start
Perfect job!
Nice to see someone else with a single car garage producing big stuff.
Your work and design is STUNNING.
Great job, I enjoyed your video and this came out amazing. Nice that you picked out a great sized TV. Last year I built a stained plywood background for a Sony 75" for the living room. Put 3 30" gray cabinets also with matching stained plywood. I had no clue what I was doing but the results were not too bad. Thank you for sharing!
Beautiful work - thanks so much for the price breakdown!
That looks sick. I like the cardboard spacing trick
Finally checked the stain with Irene!! Way to go!
She’s absolutely right. In the design world, the same color as the walls is the way to go. Makes everything look cohesive and intentional
Great job dude!!
It’s beautiful and I love that it’s the same as the wall
Lovely job. Thanks for sharing!
LoOks great and love the color!
Green shelves to match wall is perfect
This came at a great time for me as I'm about to start my own built-in project. Always love your videos.
Love it especially the stain wood love how it blends into the wall
Love it! The color is perfect
I do love the final product, maybe one of my favorite things you have done! I also think a white oak or all walnut stain would’ve looked really nice too.
Love the colour
My sitting room is a simar green with oak shelves and it's a great match 👍 looks good
Brilliant!
Looks good don’t get me wrong I’ve built builtins myself and I now the time it take and the care that goes into it but builtins are considered wall to wall trim on the floors and face frames on the cabinets all have to meet the wall. You my friend just have fancy cabinets/storage
WoW! Love it
you are a master furniture maker! i love the color blend with the walls. I am loving the sage and bamboo greens. I hate to sound fruedian but i have major tool envy.
Kids are the most clever thieves, Great build by the way
Beautiful job! Love it
Awesome build thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
I like the media room you have set up! You could save 20% on plywood IMO by switching to 1/2 inch for verticle runs and drawer boxes. Just a few tweaks to the building techniques make up all the strength your might be losing, but it's negligible for this setting because of the shearing strength plywood has at 1/2 in or higher. The face frame, backing, and wall-anchoring add enough rigidity for a permanent piece like this. I built cabinets for over 12 years with my dad and can't imagine building something this heavy. My installers would have killed me haha. Reserve 3/4 for flat, finished surfaces or broad verticle surfaces like finished edges of a pantry or fridge cabinet. Although it's hard to promote affiliate links to kregg pocket hole jigs if you don't use 3/4 in all your videos haha. If the client wanted hardwood throughout, that's another story. $$$
I’m with your wife on this one. I like that it blends in with the walls. Gives it a nice built in look.
I love how it turned out. The only thing I might have changed is not painting the green line on the stain shelves at the very top
She’s right on matching the color of the cabinets to the wall. 👍🏻
Fantastic build, and the colour is just amazing, well done 👍
The final product is gorgeous and the price point was lower than I expected! Awesome!!
Came out great. I wish I had the skill and tools to do this. Good job.
I agree with Irina! I like the same color as the walls and then shelves being the contrast! looks great!
same colour for sure! all looks awesome! favourite channel!
Nice build, I’m with you, I would have preferred a contrasting color for the whole unit.
Great project. I am looking to do a similar one in our basement. I like the color matching the walls.
Turned out great. That green is a nice color of paint
Thanks for posting the price of materials!
I like it as is its beautiful
Wifey was right about the color being the same as the walls. It looks seamless with a pop of contrast with the shelves. It's beautiful.
Love the look, great job
I'm going with Irina on the cabinet's matching the walls with the shelves as an accent purely because you used a marking square to close the lid of the tin!!!! OK, I like it as well, but even if I didn't, using a "prissision" instrument as a hammer is really painful to watch 😭 😆👍👍👍
