*This game is really good. The sprites were well drawn and the controls were like Street Fighter so special moves were easy to do. ✅😃*
Favorite game
But why not just have a designated button for mutant powers instead of doing street fighter movements lol. Snes controller had enough buttons
Um, excuse me, Magneto, best mutant, because he has "neat-o" in the name!
Why did you say that? It's a bad pun
@Landon Letterman
" You're telling me people like that 'neato' is in your name?"
"You look like a teenage girl's tube of lip balm."
@@kevlarvest7375 "Huh, most people say I look like a giant walking purple dil- _I MEAN-_ Yes, *lip balm,* that's _exactly_ what I look like!"
Game is so underated, an X-Men beatem up by Capcom, what else could you want?
cheesebufer two player
I would be hyped as a kid, having such a game.
But playing it now on the Mega Drive, those games are not such as good, as they could have been
More than one life. (not having to start over from the beginning with every death)
@@Protoman85 If only every game had the replay feature of Switch Online.
Anyone miss the videos being in the basement
So Mike "who is your favorite X-men character?" Mike "T n A".
Wolverine doesn't just have the healing factor and adamantium skeleton/claws. He has superhuman strength, speed, agility, and stamina, AND vastly heightened senses (particularly his sense of smell; he can even smell certain forms of EM radiation) as well as "animal instincts" which help him survive in the wild or in combat.
This was my jam! My dad and I picked it up from a pawn shop when I was young. Best pawn shop grab
James misses the opportunity to say, "Aaaaaaaaass!"
I loved this game as a kid, it's probably my favorite beat em up of all time
Great choice, James and Mike. One of my favorite X-men games ever. The controls take some getting used to but its not bad. Love the music in this one too. Another great video
+Christopher Martin
It's not like you have a lot of options for good X-Men games, though. What, the arcade game and this one?
Xmen Legends
Xmen Legends 2
Xmen - Genesis
X2 - Clone wars
Xmen children of the atom
Xmen arcade
Take your pick
There's plenty more.
Clone Wars and Legends 2 were both awesome for their times.
I don't like it when the character you play is so huge.
The controls aren't really that odd compared to Capcom's other fighters and beat-em-ups from the era. The control scheme here was more or less a hybrid of those two styles.
Wolverine's abilities include healing factor, mutant immune system, hyper keen senses, increased agility. The Adamantium claws are not an ability, the bone claws that the adamantium bonded to are technically an ability.
robin joined batman super early on, he wasn't a 50-60s addition. most sidekicks were added to superheros during WW2 because then the sidekicks would be the readers proxy and the heroes could be their proxy dad.
I love X-Men. Especially 90's X-Men.
It took mike so damn long to figure out to hit the sentinel lol
“Is the adamantium the name of the blades?” 😳
Sounds like my aunt.
The material it's made from
They're both huge nerds, but they also know fuck all at the same time xD
Hah, everyone knows that's the name of Logan's healing factor.
These guys....I swear
Talking about the Origins movies, The Wolverines Origins tie in game was suprisingly fun and brutal to play. You guys should try that sometimes on this show if you have an xbox 360 or ps3 or pc.
khululy p if I recall correctly, Mark Hamill played Logan 😎
nobodyinterestingyou aha your are right. I never played those, but saw some advert in a magazine awhile back.
Yep, that game is fantastic. Violent as hell.
Robert Turner That was the game on ps2, GC, and Xbox. Wolverine's revenge.
Howard_the_Duck A very loose tie in at that lol
This is actualy a very good game. My personal favorite of the Xmen in the old consoles. I always though that the Nerd didn't mention it in his review because it wasn't a bad game... but i guess he just didn't know about it?
Now i want James to do a RE-VISIT of the xmen games and add also some of the new generation ones, that'd be a mega episode!
jose juan andrade I want to see him do X2: Wolverine's Revenge as the Nerd. I have never raged so much before or after playing that game. It was fun but damn I thank God I don't have claws because of that game.
X-Men 2 for the Sega was fantastic, so he didn't just review bad games in that video
SurfintheHighway, agreed, that is not a bad game, but it had that stupid flaw where you need to reset your genesis, which i think is why he included it.
Wolverine is 5 ft 3 (1.60) and 194 lbs (88kg), They always change the characters...
James: "Yeah".
Jim Lee's character designs are still iconic.
I owned this game as a kid. definitely worth playing the whole thing. just make sure that you look-up how to do each character's moves beforehand.
Capcom later made a SNES Marvel Super Heroes game in which the characters had the exact same move sets as this one. Both great games that once you get the controlls down, you can beat in one seating.
Love how Mike looked at the camera after he was listing all the female mutants as his "Favorite" ;)
2:54 😏
I had this game and it's one of my favourite Super NES games still today, good memories :)
"...but it's a pretty long game." Not really Mike. You can get through the whole game in less than half an hour if you know what you're doing. Also, sadly there are no additional playable characters.
I honestly wish they did that unlock an additional X-man after you beat the game it would have been nice
I could never get through it as a kid. I was shocked when I played it last week to find out it only took me three hours to beat it, and that’s with quite a few deaths.
that cyclops part with hover bike, smh
"Is Adamantium the name of the blades?" - James Rolfe, 2018
One of the best aspects of the game was unlimited mutant power use. No build-up meter or health loss for using Cyclops's optic blast or Gambit's cards.
I was worried you guys forgot it was Monday
used to beat this without getting hit. One of those rare games, like Jurassic park 2 on snes co-op.
You like the Jim Lee era of the X-Men looks.
This game was actually great once you learn the moves. Since it’s developed by capcom interestingly the moves are done by performing street fighter like button combos. Try a hadoken or a shoryuken.
Clone wars is really good but very hard. It has really good feeling movement and jumping. Probably favors wolverine a bit too much because of his health regeneration, but night crawler is super enjoyable to play too.
Ever play the original? From what I remember, Clone Wars was a cake walk in comparison. Or maybe because the Clone Wars had bigger sprites, more fluid animation, and was a hell of a lot more fun to play.
Brunch it's a good game until that level with all the gold techno versions. That gauntlet is too hard
Justin B I did. It had some unique aspects but like you said, X-Men 2 was so much better all around. But I liked some of the levels and their aesthetic. Until that goddamn reset part
Wolverines music was one of my most favourite tracks in any video games.
Cyclops' military transport team was also great. Loved the music in this game!
I completely agree😀
Gayle-Ann Rumsby You can tell that the makers of this game liked wolverine.
Man. My dad got me this game when I was a child. It was really hard for me to progress through the game. I was never able to finish it.
"i'm familiar enough " "is that the metal that they put on his blades"
They aren't familiar enough in my opinion
Nice seeing you at Too Many Games, James!
Technically the gambit thing could be possible considering that the ninja turtles were mutated by the same chemicals that Matt Murdock got blinded by, him being the daredevil and gambit being in the X-Men means that they're in the same universe, ergo gambit could beat up the ninja turtles and pillage their plunder.
One of my favorite SNES games Period. This was like a precursor to my other Favorite series, The Capcom Versus Series.
Great, that the SNES gets some more love from ya
Compared to the SNES the Genesis was shit.
Snes has better games graphics and sound but yes some games have slowdown but some Genesis games also do.
Deadpool isn't an Xman
You guys should play Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks soon that's my dream gameplay on James & Mike Monday's!
The X-Men cartoon series had extremely complex plots. I was watching it a few years ago on Netflix and every now and again I had to remind myself what had happened in each episode trying keep track of it and it overlapped so much it got crazy. So much going on.
Forward forward atack up up atack down forward attack are the super powers they don't know about them
forward down forward attack is another one for Psyloche and Wolverine. Also, forward down attack let's Cyclops shoot his optic blast while ducking.
Everyone's head is tiny in this game, like the goombas in the Mario Bros film
especially Wolverine lol
Game is called Apocalypse, but I could of sworn the ending boss was Magneto lol. Loved this game as a kid though.
Why is White Queen your favorite X-Man? That is a genuine question I would like to be answered.
I LOVE THIS GAME!!! It was a childhood favourite on the SNES.
Such a great game! This one is ideal for the Angry Video Game Nerd as it is so hard, especially with characters like Beast who get overwhelmed and surrounded easily. Cyclops is good against that with the laser. Can't blame you guys, Psylocke looks smokin' lol.
I recently just covered the main theme song because it is just so epic. Reminds me of the Mega Man X OST.
You can tell it's Capcom by the reused Megaman X sound effects. The robots walking especially sound like the mech suits.
Thanks for playing this. Brings back a lot of good memories.
James and Mike Mondays AND X-Men - My two favorite things, and the game was good. Mon ami.
One of my favorite games. Playef through it last weekend. You play through the later stages with different characters. Gives it some replay value
Remember when.. a Marvel game utilized the X-Men. Been awhile since an action platformer like this was made. Challenging, but worth it.
Definitely a hidden gem with this game for sure. I loved it. You gotta look up how to do all their moves and get some practice in but after that it's a fun challenging game
The X Men deserve a great game.
It's called X-Men Legends 1 & 2
Blaze72 new game and this is called stupid.
One of the best X-Men games, the gameplay is pretty good, there's special moves which are performed like in a fighting game, back when Capcom used to make great games and used that Marvel license to good use, a shame they don't make great games like these anymore.
"Is adamantium the name of the blades?"
😬
I remember playing this game i had it . Memories
This was a great game that I forgot all about. Except for Rogue, this is the 90’s blue team which was the more popular of the two X-Men titles.
Every X-man has had at least 1 solo book. Most have had several series.
James, I have that Led Zepplin shirt and goddamn this game is brutal.
I could actually beat Super Ghouls n Ghosts as a kid but not this.
Software Agents TV it's actually not that hard
The problem is they didn't know the button combos to use the X-men powers. That's like playing Ghouls without being able to jump. The game is a mild challenge when you know how to spam Wolverine's dash and Cyclops' optic blasts.
Yes, but that was about 13 years ago. I'm pretty bad at Super Gn'G these days. The game requires A LOT of memorization and split second reactions.
this was my favorite xmen game because wolverime didnt take damage with his claws out
You can climb straight up the walls without jumping back and forth, and attack upward. It would have made it much easier to do that instead of jumping back and forth.
Gambit looks like he knows his way around a pole - Archer
I rented this game so many times. I remember it being really hard to get through a few levels as a kid.
You guys need to do shaqfu a legend reborn relive the classic snes game but now playable
bigevilworldwide1 shhhh but they might not know that
YESSS MY FAV X MEN GAME! Got this game as a 4 year old, such great memories!
Omg... nostalgia bomb. I'm getting all tingly inside remembering this game.
So glad you guys finally played this game! You should play marvel war of the gems for snes next, this game is more or less a spiritual successor to that game.
Remember when Cinemassacre used to "try" when making gaming videos. Pepperridge farm remembers.
James and Mike, you guys kick ass. Thanks for all you do!
This game was my childhood, damn, is nice to see this again.
I have this one. Never flipped it...the punch sounds, and most sounds on this 🎮 are very satisfying to here...
I owned this game as a kid and loved it. I still play it sometimes.
This was a great step up from the LJN shitty X-Men games like Uncanny X-Men and Arcades Revenge. I’m surprised the AVGN didn’t do a review on Arcade’s Revenge being that that game had was too many flaws for a 16 bit game and unforgivingly difficult. My only complaint with Mutant Apocalypse was that it should’ve been a two player game in the Double Dragon or TMNT style.
I never played this game before but there was an X-Men game in Sega that me and my cousin usually played in the '90s.
You can play as Gambit!? HELL YEAH
This is probably my favorite X-men console game. It’s not that hard once you dial it in. I’ve definitely walked away from it a few times as a kid tho.
X-Men Awesome I Have So Many X-Men Comicbooks.
Love and grew up on this game, who’s love to see you guys beat it after you’ve trained some more!
I remember playing this game at like 4 or 5 lmao, good times
This game is awesome! I remember the Christmas i got it. A side scroller beat’em up starring the x-men with unlimited use and f their powers!?! So good! With individualized stages in the beginning, and then you get to pick who you want to complete the game with. Why was this model not used more often?
I loved this game as a kid. It's the only thing I wanted for Christmas the year it came out. I beat it again and again.
Poor Mike, forgetting Deadpool.
We have less skill than kids from the 90's
Love your content.
I played this games so much as teenager, psylocke is my favorite character, so much fun.
This was a favourite of mine back in the day. Not sure how it feels nowadays.
Gambit does M.Bison scissor kicks.
James and Mike are two of the coolest guys on CZcams.
Im guessing they're gonna not the mutant abilities because theyre command inputs unless in easy mode.
Surprised they found em lol.
Please never stop making videos! Love your work James and Mike!
Would you check out "Snowboard Kids" on Nintendo 64, im not sure if you would love it or rip it to pieces haha
Had the wolverine stage theme to this as my ringtone all last year
I remember this game being super hard as a kid, with Psylocke's stage being hardest of the bunch _(admit it, we've all paused the game when doing Psylocke's leg sweep)._
I could never throw Gambit's cards or use Cyclops' laser on command, so I'd just mash buttons and barely get through the stages that required them.
The presentation though, especially the music, made this game worth playing alone. Whenever a Sentinel would appear as a boss, it would always be a badass moment as a kid.
Snipe M.D it's really not hard. You kinda made it much harder. Don't know why but I figured out the button presses fast. Maybe cause I like SF
Omgorsh, take me back to when I was young. I loved this game. Total replayability
I loved this game back in the day on the SNES, I think I even owned it! Thanks guys! :)
I think I rented this once a long time ago.
It's insane you guys never played this one back in the day... Probably the best xmen game. Great vid btw.
One of my favorite game from my childhood
This was the last SNES game that I got from my parents as a gift. I got it for one of my birthdays.
Took me awhile to beat this one but its one of those games that make you want to play it more and more until you do beat it
