True story. In 93 when I was 12, my friend and I were hopping a fence near my apartments trash bin looked down and found a Sega Genesis in the dumpster. It was thrown out because the prong where the controller inserts was bent. It was an unbelievable find. We could not believe it. We bent the prong back. My friend gave me a controller, a game or two and I was set. I still cant belueve that happened to this day but it did.
That's awesome especially for the time. I bought my sega when it was bundled with sonic one and two.

Holy fucking shit! This is it! This is the game! I remember playing it when I was a kid and having fun. But I could never find it to play it again because I could never remember the name. All I could do was try to explain it to people. Thank you guys SO much for playing this and to everyone who suggested it. Seriously.

I stumbled across this game as a kid at a pawn shop and my dad bought it for me. I LOVED it as a kid. This is what the Beetlejuice NES game should have been like.
Was hoping you guys would review this someday. This was one of my favorite Electronic Arts games back in the 90's next to General Chaos and Mutant League Football.

Has this game as a kid back in the 90's. My fav two scares is when the rat runs into a food blender. The other is the toilet monster. He lifts up the toilet seat and starts throwing turds around the room lol.

I got this game as a gift from mom without asking or knowing what it was at all. Very entertaining going through seeing all the scare animations. This Dragon Warrior (Mail order with all the maps), and World of Illusion starring Mickey and Donald were games I did't ask for but turned out to be very memorable.
I love it when Mike's in character. He always commits, even when it's off the cuff like this one :)

I rented this from Jim's Video so often I basically owned it. Loved this game to no end. And yeah, the dungeon sections SUCK so of course the final boss fight takes place there.

Oh my God! I totally remember this game. I've thought about this game many times over the years not k owing what it was called. I knew it had something to do with "Poltergeist". I rented this bunches from either Blockbuster or PicAFlick as a kid. Always thought it was cool because how interactive it was. Awesome guys.

J Smith Sorry you're not informed but you can buy a physical copy of the translated cart. Also it works on regular Snes, Retron 5, and a few other clone systems. By the way, they do play roms, they did review the NES & Snes Classic.
Smokey McJoint I'm sure they already have a copy between the 3 of them and also there is no more purist to gaming when it comes to reviews. I like seeing great games played no matter how it is done. Sorry but different regions got some awesome games others didn't.
I can't see why playing a rom is such a big deal. Sorry but there were games different regions never got and we finally have a way to enjoy them. I don't like people who profit off of them but more for an archival perspective. I enjoy playing games with my kids that you can't find anywhere anymore. Plus who has an extra room dedicated to storing all the carts, consoles, accessories or the money.

This is one of the funnest games for the Genesis. It's so simple but so satisfying to play.

I read the Stallone Poe script, and it was pretty good. He was actually never going to play Poe. At one point, he was thinking of casting Sean Penn in that part.

This is one of my all time favorite games and I am glad it is finally getting recognition,
Hey fellas, just wanted to chime in: Doctor Gordon (Carey Elwes’ character) DID actually survive - Jigsaw saved him and nursed him back to health, then had him kill off the apprentice dude, who had killed Jigsaw’s wife.
The implication is that Elwes and the others from the survivor support group were going to continue Jigsaw’s work, its possible the new movie will feature Gordon and the others.
When I wasn't playing Sonic or Mortal Kombat on my Genesis, I was playing Haunting.
I love how Vito just runs out of the house and abandons his family.

I've been fascinated with trying this game since I saw Pat's review of it a few years ago.

OK, I absolutely, positively looooooove Haunting Starring Polterguy!!! 😀 👏 🙌 It is such an entertaining and unique experience! I constantly played this game when I was a kid. I just couldn't get enough of it. I never have been able to beat it though. It's definitely one of my all-time favorite Genesis games. In fact, I still break it out and play it every once in a while. I'm just so glad James and Mike finally tried this game out. It deserves to be much more well-known among classic gaming aficionados. I highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys playing quality and original Sega Genesis games. 👍👍

Yeah, it's a real shame. Luckily the kinda made up for it with 1995's Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat, easily excuses the 50s with its bad animation and then Baby Felix & Friends with its horrible concept (and continuation of the 50s felix design. I'm still disturbed that the 50s version of felix doesn't have whiskers)

I got this game for Christmas one year, I can't remember if I asked for it or it was something randomly gifted to me but I loved it.
I've never been more afraid for someone's life than when Mike took out that mask. He sounded positively deranged when he said he was gonna go get it.
I thought James was about to get slasher movie'd.
Oh my god. I LOVE this game. This was one of my favorite games as a kid. My Dad and I played through this game so many times.
A few explanations. Each color it shines means the different kind of haunt you can perform, some take more ecto than others.
When you run out of ecto you end up going to the doorway to the underworld and you are trying to collect enough ecto to return to the land of the living. You can play the whole game without ending up there but you need to be efficient.
You also get some powers you can use once per level, these are super useful once you find out how to use them.
You are playing a dude that got ran over because his skateboard was defective, the company that made them is led by vito, the dad. So he is getting his revenge.
This is a points game, the more efficient you are the higher score you get.
Any more Questions James? Id be glad to answer them for you, I played a lot of this when I was younger.
I loved this game when I was a kid. It gets challenging later on because the people get harder to scare and the dog starts aggressively following you. His barks drain your ectoplasm, and you can't rid of him usually. It was well made for its time, definitely a forgotten gem for the Sega Genesis library.

This was my favorite genesis game back in the day. Nobody knew about it except whoever put me onto it. Every one would be like what game is this. Somehow it was the only video game that survived my childhood and still have it complete in box

lol mike putting the mask on and doing stallion impressions was the best part of this video.
I fucking loved this game as a kid. Game play wise, there isn't much to it. It's basically a puzzle game with a really unique premise. The trick is to jump into as many things as you can quickly, and time the bigger scares(the ones you're stuck in until they go off) and the controllable scares until they're just about terrified and then pop those as they're running. More scares = more slime when they run.
One of my favorite scares as a kid was the upper bathroom toilet in the second house. A little ghoulie pops out of the crapper and starts flinging literal shit all over the place.
I think he switched into Andrew Dice Clay at the end there.

Haunting. I had this game back in the days. It''s pretty easy to clear all 4 houses without once getting to the underworld. But in the last house there is a twist so stupid, that I never was able to beat the game.
I used to play this game a lot as a kid and it was super hard to beat. I never could get past the third house with that flying head and dog that could see you. Put hours into this game trying to beat it and never could. It's on the bucket list now.

This game was my jam as a kid. I played through it so many times, just so I could see all the animations. If you jumped in one of the toilets in the second house this Ghoulies looking thing would crawl out and throw hunks of poo everywhere. 😂

I also wonder since it's an EA game if any names attached to this game later worked on The Sims franchise. Cause years after this was released and The Sims came out some aspects felt similar or influenced to me. Electronic Arts hands down made the absolute best games on the Genesis.

I remember playing this as a little kid on an EA games collection for PSP. The dungeon part used to always confuse me and I died constantly so it wasn’t really my favorite game on the collection. That title would have to go to either B.O.B. or Road Rash.
