Graphically, this is a good looking game for 1986.
Gameplay wise, even MORE so!...
Yeah the Master System usually looks way better than NES
@@wren9713
Hardly. SMB3 looks better than any master system game.
@@kekeke8988 this game was made in 1985 for the PC....lol
SMB3 was made in 1987-1988

lol no
Ghost House, a nostalgic favorite. Probably the best Sega Card game. Hate the reversed jump and punch buttons, though. There's a alot of technique to the game. Pay attention to the fireplaces, chandeliers and candelabras.
What's the one where you use the phaser gun protecting the little blonde haired girl from obstacles like baby boomer? Only released in PAL and South America I think...
That would be Laser Ghost I believe
That’s my Joe ! Sega for life ! I wish they would have looked into the game more , so weird at one point mike says ‘get the knife’ and I was like YES ! GET THE KNIFE !!!!
Tip... GET THE DAMN KNIFE! hehe
@SouporNintendo That's Laser Ghost.
James finally plays "Boo!: a Haunted House" that he teased so many years ago. Bats? - Punch 'em!
Still the Master System was Great and we loved it here in Britain
Blade The Bear
It was more for younger children, as older kids had Amstrads, Commodores & middle-class families had BBC Micros, lol
Yeah you got thet right M8💻
Rex Apis Yeah. I wasn't around then but I have an idea of what was like thanks to my Family
Tarlo The Boar, yes we did.
Great... for a doorstop.
Hey, this game came to Brazil as 'Chapolin VS Dracula'!! I used to play a lot in my childhood!!
Man, I was the weird kid who had the sega master system and not the nes growing up. While watching this, I kept wanting to yell jump on the sword! It’s funny watching you play a game I’ve beaten as a kid. Wish I was there to help out.
Me too... haha
Same
I only saw a longplay of it but I was saying the same thing.
YES! More Master System games please
Yes please 🙏
damn this one is a personal favorite of mine. my older brother had a master system, the first console i ever played, and this was one of the first games i ever played.
Master System because someone bought the last NES out of your hands?
This is a favorite from my childhood. Watching this video makes me wish i was there to explain some things to james and mike to help them out. Its nowhere as bad as theyre making it.
It's just the usual bias sadly that the SMS got from the states from people who are not familiar with the great system and what it has to offer
I'd love if you did more Sega Master System!
100% this
When fighting Dracula, you need to get the knife that flies around and use that to defeat him.
Like ive always said I love watching you guys chill out and playing old school games.
I owned the cart version of this game, i'd completely forget it even existed. Thanks for the epic flashback.
Would love to see you guys do Wonderboy 3 since you're doing master system games :)
If you listen closely, you can hear James' Nerd persona rising to the surface.
These videos make Mondays bearable.
Master System games always looked so intriguing in those white grid pattern packages. Definitely went a long way to encouraging me to get a Genesis when the next gen came along.
I loved this game as a kid, my grandmother had a master system so whenever we went there I would play this and a few others. The game actually pretty good if you know what you are doing.
It's good to see them playing master system games for a change
I was 10 in '86. In fact, that's the year I got my NES (gray zapper, not orange.). I was a hardcore Nintendo fanboy at that time, so I didn't have a MasterSystem. Thing is, neither did any of my friends. We knew about it, but like the TurboGrafx 16 or Neo-Geo a generation later, it was almost mythical because none of us had ever seen one. For the vast majority of kids, it was NES until the next-gen 16-bit systems came out, then it was either SNES or Genesis (MegaDrive).
I spent most of this video screaming "Get the knife!"
Bats really are the most common enemies in video games...which is really fun considering that real bats are virtually harmless.
i played this when it was new my cousin had the Master System you have to admit it was pretty cool that it played the cards too.
I love this game. I got it at Lionel Playworld in the 80s!
So this game came out a year before the movie Monster Squad 1987. That is very old. A lifetime ago in fact. Also I can’t believe these guys haven’t done a video for Decap Attack on Genesis. It’s a pure Halloween theme. Would love to see that.
Oh god you hit me in the memories. This used to scare the shit out of me
More master system games! :)
Way to represent Funspot Mike, I grew up going there as a kid. Greatest memories of my childhood. Fun fact the dragons name is topsnuf, that's funspot spelled backwards 👍 if anyone is ever in New Hampshire head to Weirs Beach
"Imagine punching Dracula in the face like that's your option"
The SEGA Master System is such an underreated system imo. It's got so many great games like the 8-bit version of Sonic 1 & 2, Sonic Chaos, Alex Kidd In Miracle World, Psycho Fox, Operation Wolf, Phantasy Star and Wonder Boy/ Monster World just to name a few.
Also, is James feeling alright? It sounds like his throat's kinda dry and sore.
Those were all game gear games, right? Isn't it the exact same system, except GG is a portable version?
Actually this is a very good game. You guys need more practice and to read the game manual. I loved this game as a kid and I was very good at it when I was 11.
I love Mike's William Shatner impression 😂
The lights only work a few times per level, whether you die or not. You can hit Dracula as long as hes out of the coffin, even in bat form, you just have to time your hits. Touching candlesticks makes daggers fly at you, jump on them to obtain it.
For those that don't know, this game is the epitome of "GET THE KNIFE" James and Mike didn't know and that's why they didn't get anywhere 🤣😉
James and Mike thank you so much for doing a review for this game. When I was a child this was my all-time favorite game on the Sega Master System.
The music seems really catchy.
Two years late but some advice... Jumping where the candles are on the wall will trigger a knife to fly at you which you can jump on and then use as a weapon for a limited time. It makes killing things significantly easier :)
Holy... I remember this game! If you jump on the knifes enough you can use them!
I'm naming my band The Five Draculas.
Isn't James locked in a warehouse?!
Nice! Do 'Golvelius' next! Was fun as hell and holds up
I wasn't even born in 86. This game is 1 year older than me. It looks pretty good for it's time for sure.
The guy you play as looks like a younger Spock
JustinLeeGames this is what really happened to Spock between Star Trek II and III.
Looking forward to Mike's inevitable full playthrough lol
You guys should use the 6-button Genesis controller instead. Much better.
Hah wow, I got this game for my Genesis+Power Base Converter in my collection like last month. Really like it!
It’s actually a pretty good game, but yeah it’s going to seem pretty cryptic if you don’t read the manual. All you had to do is read like one or two other bits in the instructions and the game makes sense.
Oh man, did I ever get nostalgic when they were testing the bulbs in this game. I've never played this one, but that's how we used to have to do it if we didn't know anyone with the game we were playing, or if the instructions were weren't clear. We had to do that with a TON of games back in the day
I for one enjoy James and Mike's "play by the seat of your pants" approach to video games.
here in Brazil this game is called chapolin vs dracula
I played it a lot!
Day 7... in the ghost house... Ghost butts... Ghost butts everywhere
I got this for my birthday as a kid. Played a bit, but also got phantasy star so I was hooked on that
I'm still waiting for a Sega MS mini. Hopefully they'll put this game on there.
The instant you started playing this game I remember it from being a kid but had totally blanked it from my memory. Awesome
Wow that bat in the title is pretty neat.
Play Popful Mail on Sega CD please.
My favorite thing about this is actually the picture on the box cover. It's so bad its amazing. It actually makes me want it in a weird sort of way xD
"you cannot live without this game"
Is what it says when you beat it.
There are 6 levels Jamers.
if james and mike played the die hard trilogy games for playstation, i could imagine that the humor would be just as silly as the abobo play through where you had the pee wee herman impression and that wheres the beef comment which is so funny, like the games are good, but its absurd cause sometimes hostages get in the way of the bad guys
Oh man im so glad u reviewed this game! Thank you!
Oh man, I remember this game being "modded" here in Brazil as the "Chapolin vs Dracula" game (chapolin is the mexican super hero created by Roberto Bolaños).
You guys also need to play the Mickey Mouse games for the Master System, Land of Illusion and Castle of Illusion were great games.
Bats are not only the most common enemies in games back then. They also almost always move in a sine wave.
Bats & drips from the ceiling have got to be the most common enemy in games!
"this isn't" - James
Speaks volumes
Bad hit detection seems to be a running theme on the Master System.
you missed the opportunity to put the background image for this video of a hand looking like it's holding the gameplay screen like the hand holding the cartridge haha
Good to see James taking a break from being possessed by a Polybius machine to play a game with Mike.
One of my favorite sms games.
I had this as a kid for the Master System 2. Remember playing it, can’t remember getting very far. Predator 2 was my favourite game I had for the Master System. Finished that one I remember.
this game was a childhood staple. Love it
Loved this game as a kid but I remember having it as a regular cart tough.
Spooky!
What a miracle you guys are playing a Master System game. By the way, this game was localized in Brasil as "Chapolim X Drácula: Um Duelo Assustador", in cartridge form. The game is cryptic and not that good but being able to play as Chapolin changes the experience a lot to me.
Painful to watch them consistently not try to punch Dracula in Bat form. Ghost House is a cryptic game of skill.
What? They did, but he seemed to hit them anyway without taking damage. Hitting him in bat form doesn't stun him.
Pause the game while he is in bat form, beat to a pulp.
reversalmushroom - the fist wasn't hitting the bat. Sometimes you need to jump to make sure the they make contact.
That's just bad game design, to all of us it seems like you cant hit the bad, it doesnt blink, change colors or anything to let you know that you're doing it right
It makes a particular noise when you land a hit. The game is cryptic and the instruction manual does not help.
I don't know why, but I always remember this game being called Dracula House. But I friggen loved this game XD this and Dynamite Dux were some Master System under-rated gems!
Yay finally a Sega Master System game! And one that I owned too! Been wanting you to review Sega Master System games for years.
I have this game at home. I tried to play it 2 or 1 year ago and I don't think it works anymore. Still there's charm to this game as it reminds me when video games where just...video games.
Ive been trying to figure out what this game was from a memory when i was young. Years ive been trying to figure out what it was! Thanks guys. This game was badass back then
Oh man, I have this game at home. Love it when you guys play games from my own collection
now you can not live without this game
This game was a real nightmare in my childhood ! The controls are clunky, the game is super hard and I think it's one of those I never saw the ending. When you kill a Dracula then realize there's another one in the same level...
Back to the future 2 & 3 on NES ... That brings back memories. I played it so much but never got anywhere. I wanted to like it. James & Mike should play that!
When James started talking about the controller, I was reminded of his Batman video where he was pissed off about the controller configuration on the snes controller with that game. Started lmao!
With games like this, I watch someone play them properly after I watch this video :D
Quite the Tongue on that ghost...
James sounds like he lost his voice. i have a feeling the next couple polybius episodes are going to have some yelling.
Smokey McJoint I doubt it. AVGN requires far more editing than J&MM. they definitely filmed this after the polybius videos.
it clearly says in the description this was recorded in september
David Ruiz september was only 4 weeks ago. the AVGN polybius special was probably recorded in september as well. and as i predicted, in the new polybius episode that was just uploaded, he yells a lot.
James is also collaborating with the Nostalgia Critic its likely James has been in Chicago for that which is why they recorded this stuff in september
jump on knifes and use them to kill dracula love vids this game looks good but looks like a b to get used to
More Master System, YES! I grew up with that system along with the NES and Intellivision. I'd love to see more people, especially you guys, playing the catalogue.
Punch the sword walk though the wall portals damnit this is a great game!!!
OMG I have this game! Played it last year and it still works after over 30 years.
You know what would've been cool? If Myke played by himself today, saying just "sorry guys, James didn't come today", and leave it to that. ;)
"Attack them all by PUNCHING. (Watch the red sparks when you destroy. The yellow sparks when you fail.) Except for the FireBlower. You'll have to jump over his head and attack him with your knife -- otherwise you'll get scorched and lose precious energy." - Ghost House instruction manual (1986)
Just seeing James play games is a welcome sight
Awesome, I had this game as a kid.. loved it.
This game looks more like a spooky version of Alex Kidd to me.
;3
"Day 25, in the Ghost House.."
*Your life burns faster!*
*Obey your Sega... Master!*
if you want another horror related master system game i would recommend Laser ghost on the master system its one of my favourite games for the master system next to psychic world.
you can see the place where you go through the floor, there is a sligthly different brick texture but you really need to pay attention
You guys should do Montezuma's Revenge for Master System next.
I guess Mike found James and somehow unlocked the door to the room with polybius :p
