    Wow, the memories of this game must have been lost in the recesses of my mind, but seeing you playing brought it all back. Even the cover made me remember of those fridays when you could rent 2 games and return on monday. Good memories.

    This game is actually a tie in to the 1990 Japanese movie Zipang (which also the PC-Engine version of Solomon's Key is based on) and the game is named Jigoku Gokuraku Maru in Japan. The game is developed by Human Enterainment and Human Creative Group (now Spike).

    Yo, dudes. You can exchange chips for life when paused. If I remember correctly it's just by pressing up and down. You def would have cleared that last boss if you traded chips for more life.

    Man, I remember playing this at my friend's house. It was one of those great hidden gems that no one seemed to play growing up. We rented it 2 or 3 times from Main Street Video, Bellevue, NE.

    I had this game when i was a kid and i still have it to this day, one of my favorite games on the NES, the gameplay is fun and the music kicks ass. When you pause the game you are able to turn chips into health and health into chips (pending on if you want more ammo for a weapon or not)

    This game is based off a japanese movie. The cutscenes got changed for the American and European version. One of the cool features with the game is if you pause the game you can get more health or chips by pushing the D-pad up or down.

    The Matrix way before the Matrix, LOVE this game!! I played this game for most of my life, it has great gameplay, awesome special abilities, an hp/mp swap function (during boss fights, when you press pause, you can swap your chips for HP and vice versa), cool special effects, awesome difficulty and a perfect f*cking soundtrack!! The Stage 5 track is just absolute perfection!

    @Mike I usually don't comment on CZcams videos but as you were fighting cyber Audrey I was laughing my butt off because I felt your pain. It brought back those memories of when I was a kid playing games like Batman and Ninja turtles, and my nerves and adrenaline was pumping so much that I would have to turn my baseball cap around and when I did that I wasn't messing around anymore

    There's a trick you can use during boss battles: if you pause the game during them, you can press up or down to convert your chips into life and vice-versa.

    I've finished this game insane amount of times. I absolutely loved it as a kid...good old times :)

    I cant believe they played Gun.Smoke and Quantum Fighter recently. Those are my favorite 2 nes games from my childhood. I think I've even recommended them both on this channel's comments before. Such good games!

    I loved it as a kid. It's one of those obscure nes gems. No one seems to know about it. I played it in 4th grade when it came out. It gets pretty tough at the end. The last level is the worst.

    Crystalis is fantastic! I played it and beat it as a kid, and found it to be on par with Zelda as an adventure game. Mike, you would love it. James too, but I feel that Mike would frikkin love it.

    Mike: "The controls are really good. The jumping mechanics are really good. I like being able to jump off of stuff. I think it's kinda neat how you can hit things with your hair. It's kinda unique." Mike, good sir, you have just described Shantae, one of the few 2D platformer franchises that isn't dead in our modern age of gaming. It's definitely a series worth checking out.

    journey to silius would be a great episode... It is a very challenging game so practice up! fun fact: it was originally designed to be a Terminator game! some of the best nes music in this game.

    Mike, let me increase your enjoyment of this game: you can give lower and raise the health bar by adding or subtracting chips by pressing up and down on i think it's the pause screen.

    You can trade chips for health and vice versa when you pause, like in Astynax. Also, I believe with each boss you destroy you get a special weapon in your inventory to use. Try using the dynamite on the last boss you guys were fighting when it's on the ceiling.

    There are more than one special weapons you can use. In the final stage you can even convert your hp and energy.

    If you read the story in the american instruction manual. It is stupid close to assassin's creed. Him being a kabuki dancer inside the program isn't random it's because one of his ancestors was a kabuki dancer and so his mind represented him as his ancestor inside the computer he's attached to.

    what's up James and Mike? after I saw this video a couple of weeks ago I ordered a copy of this game. I just got and so far it's really fun. I like the style because it reminds me of batman, and the flipping around and grabbing on to walls definitely reminds me of ninja gaiden. I was the one who was pestering you to play Castlevania 3 and you finally did which was awesome btw :)

    You get a weapon's upgrade for each boss you defeat. For that boss you died on, you should have used the triple shot which would have enabled you to hit the boss when it was sitting on the ceiling :)
