- In this episode, my buddy and I go trout fishing while we backpack in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Along with the beautiful views, I also managed to catch a fish worthy of cooking up in my first ever 'Catch and Cook'.
Sit back, grab a beer, grab a coffee, grab something nice to sip and enjoy!

Those mountain reflections in the water are really beautiful Jonathan. Love them. TY for taking us along. :)
It was surreal. Thanks for watching
Came for the fish, stayed for the WOOHOHOOOO! You da man Yentch!
Woooo! Thanks for watching
The scenery is absolutely Beautiful! Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
I agree! Thanks for watching
My soul yearns for some adventures like this. Great video!
You may want to consider getting some polarized sun glasses - they help you to see through the glare on the top of the water so it's easier to see if there are any fish close by or obstacles you need to avoid.
Yes definitely gonna be picking some up soon. Thanks for watching
Doesn't get much better than that. Awesome mountains, blue sky, and an alpine lake all to yourself. The trout was just icing on the cake. Thanks for the video.
Totally agreed. Life is good! Thanks for watching
I’m moving to the seirras from Missouri in 3 days!!!! Can’t wait
Your going to love it!🎉

Beautiful video and music. Brought back wonderful memories of when I hiked the Sierras just west of Lake Tahoe 50 years go. Can't do that anymore, so can really relate to your fine videos.
This must have been a great trip, breathtaking scenery! 🏞🌲
Beautiful scenery.
Awesome video!! I can't get enough of the Sierras. Nice work!
I love your videos - really enjoying this adventure. Glad you finally caught a fish:)
OMG, Jonathan, the scenery is breathe-taking, the reflection in the water, the beauty of God! And the trout, WOW! I can almost taste it. You can't get much better than this. I'm still loving your coffee "whooooo's"! Coffee Mocha, num, num, num! I'm a 70 year woman with health issues and can't get out and walk like I used to. You put in so much effort in editing and picking out the best music to share your adventures with me. Greatly appreciated! Keep safe. God bless!😘
Happy for your first catch and cook!!!

Loved the mood music. A very nice touch, with the great views. Catch and cook is cool. Congratulations.
You know I’ve always wanted to visit California and I’ve loved camping since I was super young and these videos not only bring back childhood memories but make me want to travel and see new places. Keep em coming !!
Woot woot!!! I knew you could do it!
I've always thought of myself as more of a gatherer but, I may give hunting a try now. Thanks!
You are living the dream!!!
Good job. You've now entered the fraternity of legitimate anglers. Plus you cleaned it and ate it. Your under the spell now. Be safe. Blessings
Gorgeous views! Congrats on catching your fish.
Your video brings back memories. Many yrs ago my husband & his brothers & I would hike in 2 miles or more to camp & fish. One of us would pack a light small pot to boil the water for coffee & such. And another would pack the cast iron frying pan. Some rice, potatoes, flour, oil, & seasonings to spice the fish or crayfish caught everyday. The cooked fish head was always fought over. It's the tastiest part, along with the eyes.
Love the classical tunes brings videos to life
Relaxing, stunning views, excellent music accompaniment... Thanks, Aloha
Thanks for watching
Super cool video. Thanks for sharing that with us👍😎
I am glad you caught one!
I so enjoy watching your videos and congrats on your first "catch and cook"!

Absolutely Beautiful congratulations on your fish catching.
I'll say it again. Your videos deserve so much more views and you deserve more subscribers. More power to you Jonathan! ☝
Most gorgeous place on earth. I'm blessed to be able to experience it
Wow , Cool stuff ..I used to live in Carson City just down the hill from lake Tahoe . Killer trout fishing everywhere .
Just had fish tonight and now I'm watching this video, cheers man
Very Kraig Adams-esque video. Love it. I watch every week. Keep it up! 😁

Glad you enjoyed. Cheers
😋 now I want fish, it looked tasty, enjoy your trip💗
The Sierra Nevada is beautiful. You get too close to the edge Jonathan Yentch. Careful dude!
Beautiful reflections in the water of the lakes and trails. Lol! I could taste that fish! Yummy and congratulations. Loved this video. Awesome. Keep safe and see you next time🌺😊!
Just found your channel. Big fan of the Sierra and especially trout fishing those majestic high alpine lakes. Yew!
Absolutely stunning. Really enjoying your channel.
Beautiful video quality ! upping your game ! great fish cook'n too :)
Another great video
Thanks for watching
I found the best trout fishing are the lakes on the June Lake Loop. My brother is well known for his trout catches in the area. He's never been skunked in all the years he fishes up there. He lives in Lake Arrowhead and parks his fifth wheeler up there somewhere during the warmer months. In the winter he stores it in San Bernardino. Beautiful hike and great photography work, Jonathan.
Oh my!that's a beautiful area
🙋🏽♀️I really really enjoyed this video 😃🐟congratulations on your catch
What’s crazy is this is my backyard and I have yet to do a backpacking trip..
This video is very motivating thank you!
Need more of these type of videos
That place is BEAUTIFUL 😍
Agreed!
Wow-That's very bold of you in climbing up those rocks, but I'm sure that it was definitely worth it-so beautiful!🌄Now that's a bear🐻 container! I'm glad that you didn't give up on catching fish!🐟 For your fish, the seasoning- nothing to it(sea salt, pepper, and olive oil) and for cooking it- easy peasy (a frying pan and a stick to use as a spatula)!🤣😂 Great meal!! Yep, I was expecting that!☕(but with chocolate 🍫,that is a game changer)!
Loved it
I have a rod just like that and I am glad to see how you are supposed to use it. Thanks!
Congrats on the first catch/cook. You can't beat fresh fish.
Thanks! It was delicious
My most favorite place in the world- high Sierras. I never tire of gazing at all that granite.
You are so blessed to be able to live like this
Really enjoying your videos Jonathan! Going to be converting my ford escape for camping and definitely gonna visit some areas in the PNW! Keep up the great work 👍✌
Nice video…Beautiful lake.
Cool thanks for sharing have a good one 🤘☮️🖤🍀😜🤟🦋
Thanks for watching! Cheers
Hell yeah, brook trout are my favorite to catch and cook. Got me excited for the sierra this summer. I'll be up in the mountains for the next couple days but sadly no fish at the lakes I'm heading to for this trip but I'll put up a video. Catch and cooks definitely on the next couple trips though. Just subscribed, hope you put out more videos like this
living the dream
Congratulations on your catch 🐟 Beautiful hike
Thank you! It was a beaut
Hell yah Great video...... nice beautiful views
Love this spot my guy
Awesome video man
Your video's are stunning and intertaining.😊
Loved the piano music.
I’m backwatching your videos and yelling through my phone…”its a trout stop setting the hook !!!’ Haha. Just Keep tension. Ive been fishing the Eastern Sierras for almost 30 years. Beautiful country. The Western Alps.
Good Job!
Getting prepared to head up to the High Sierras to fish. I have the same bear canister. Heavy but like you said it is what it is. Great video as always.
Enjoy your time up there. The bear can is definitely worth it though to ensure your food stays safe lol.
Good job.
Cool video bro!
Great video!!!
Thanks my dude!
Hey Gm Jonathan Way cool on the fish
Beautiful stuff! Glad you got that skunk smell off ya'. LOL. Congrats!
Congrats!! Trout is so yummy.
It was delicious
Enjoyed the video very much:)
Glad you liked it :-)
Hey great job Jhonatan!! love from Htown!
Thanks for watching, cheers!
You sure know where to find the best view 👍
There’s no bad views in the Sierras 😅
“You gonna eat the skin”
“Hell nah I ain’t eatin that sh!t” hahah
Thanks for the video. Absolutely beautiful out there.
Brookies in the high country, the best ! Caught those with a gold hook ,no bait in the wemenuche wilderness of Colorado ,whilst Elk hunting ! Best eating fish .
You should do a video on your hiking/camping gear
Great catch btw
Defiantly would have a drink before walking that!
Yes, certainly did enjoy watching your video.. I was so happy you actually caught the size you can eat. When will GF come on the fishing trips with you???
Save the best for last, the signature coffee “wooh!”
Woooo! That chocolate coffee was extra good
Looks awesome up there. Bet you would of had a great day on the fly (hint, hint). High alpine lakes are great for dry - dropper rigs. Tight lines!
And you get to eat the premier taste treat of the Sierra 'Golden Trout' tastes better than any trout you've tried. Altitude keeps them exceptionally tasty🎉
Beautiful place. I had seen footage of the High Sierras when I was researching the PCT. One day I'd like to make it there. Congrats on the fish. I am just too chicken to handle the fish. The fishing part I can deal with, it's the killing and cleaning part that I don't like... :)
You have the most amazing intros between the drone shots and music. Major Kudos. And how about that squirrel? Gotta be the fattest one I’ve ever seen.
Dude that would be one fat squirrel 😂. I believe that animal was a marmot.
You should've hung your Ursack in a tree and not left it tied to something like a tree trunk or on the ground. Hanging them is the best way.
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS location you're at here though. Love it man! Keep the videos comin'
Small container of lemon pepper works great for catch n cook backcountry trout
I'd recommend looking into Tenkara (Japanese fly rod) very compactable and great for high mountain lakes. Great video as always.
I’ve been considering getting one. Looks like a lovely style of fishing. Cheers!
“So far so good” 😂
That marmot looked like good eatin.
Awesome video man!!!! Maybe I missed it but what trail is this dude?
Nice legs man. Good job on the catch but yeah i would of cut up the fish to fit the pan. Should of gotten a canopy for the Tundra. Can't wait till you get to Alaska.
The best video out there. Can you live there.🤣
Stay safe god bless
Love California
