- Did some exploring in the Appalachian Backcountry, this past fall. We spent 2 nights backpacking and fishing a beautiful river system filled with a thriving trout population. The weather was perfect and the leaves were just starting to show off their colors. It was a great weekend but like any trip, we were in for some surprises...

Scottie, you could make a video on the instructional manual of a 1980's VHS player and it would be the most inspiring thing I have ever seen. It just really helps I like fly fishing, which makes this all the better. However, no matter the subject you would crush it. The highest praise I can give some one.
I loved fishing out west, but there is something really special about trout fishing in the Appalachian Mountains. I don't know how to explain it but i'm sure you understand.

Love your respectful etiquette for the fish. They are fragile and you guys do a great job at being conscientious for catching and releasing them.

Definitely one of my favorite channels to watch. The Short Bus series gave me inspiration to pull out my old Cabela’s brand fly rod I bought years ago and actually try to use it! If I have any luck this year, I’m definitely going to be upgrading to a better pole and reel.

You see tight loops northern exposure video? I'm considering moving there after school. I'm intrigued by the brook trout population and the Atlantic salmon although from what I've read there are no real ocean runs, just landlocked.
@@j22dubz the Penobscot river has the largest run of Atlantic salmon in the state but it is still extremely small. This past summer there was a little over 1400 fish. Encouraging compared to years past but I don’t expect them to make a comeback.
You realize that inviting the Internet to come fish Maine is a mistake, right?
On top of that, 99% of Maine north of the coast is private land and water, and the fishing that is accessible to people is heavily fished & widely known about.
Great video, the kind of fly fishing i love, unfortunately with my lung problem, i cannot hike like that anymore but i continue to fly fish with my van camper and find places close to the road where i dont have to climb mountain to satisfy my passion. Thank's kids for the vid and stay safe.

Nice little stream. Rule #1 when camping in bear country: Don't cook or hang your food where you sleep, do it far away. Don't want to attract bears to your tent, do ya? They can smell everything!
Yep, we hung the bag far down the trail from camp and put the food up as soon as we finished. But I do agree that cooking away from camp would be best next time.
