- There isn’t an actor quite like Jack Nicholson. There are not many actors who can have a career that spans 60 years and still pull out compelling award-winning performances.
Nicholson has acted in every genre imaginable and whenever he is on screen you can’t help but be captivated by his presence and charisma. Even when he plays villains like The Joker, Jack Torrance, and Frank Costello it’s hard to take your eyes off him.
But lately we haven’t been seeing much of the screen legend. You can’t even find him in his usual courtside seat at Lakers home games. Here is the real reason you don’t hear from Jack Nicholson anymore.

He had cancer I think just after The Departed so I'd agree he probably felt like acting wasn't such a priority anymore.

James Cagney was on set on a very hot Summers day in 1962. filming "321". He took a break one lunchtime and wondered why he was working in the studio when he could enjoy the beautiful weather. He only acted to "put the bacon on the table", and announced his retirement. He became a farmer.

I am glad Jack is still alive with us. He is so cocktailed energy & life. Hilarious, serious, gifted, interesting, scary, versatile, unique ..What more have I missed out? Jack still has so much more to give...legend entertainer. Nobody else like him.

He's old , has been in tone of well known movies , won many awards and has earned well over billions of dollars. He is a legend that will never be forgotten.

Jack Nicholson has nothing more to prove to anything or anybody anymore! His legendary movie career and accolades speak volumes for themselves. I'm quite certain that he's earned the respect of everyone out there in the Hollywood community.

80 isn't really old anymore. Life expectancy is on the increase with more and more living to 100 and beyond. Look at Eastwood, 87 and the next film he will direct is in pre-production. Long live these brilliant men.
It's not about age, the man simply wants to enjoy the rest of his life instead of working until he dies.
I think that's common sense. Why do most of us work ?! The answer: so we can make enough money to live a good life. The truth is 90 % of the people on Earth don't enjoy their work, it's just something they have to do.
It's still considerably old. The average life expectancy of a man is only a few years older. Eastwood or Betty White are the exceptions

I'd assume it was production issues. Usually if a movie get's too many rewrites and reshoots the costs will eventually add up regardless of genre. Still it's a baffling amount that you'd expect more from an action blockbuster :P

Absolutely love Jack Nicholson. Let him enjoy his twilight years. One Flew over the Cuckoo's nest is still my favourite film, 37 years after first watching it. Brilliant film with superb performances from Louise Fletcher, Brad Duriff, Christopher Lloyd, Danny Dee Vito, William Renfield and many others. And who could forget Scatman Carruthers as Mr Terquel and the big Chief.

Just watched “One flew over the cuckoos nest for the first time.” I can’t believe it took me so long. Loved it! He is an icon!! “Somethings got to give” is one of my favorites. And “ The Shining?” Wow!
It's so very hard to believe he never enjoyed acting. I have always loved him as an actor. I can practically quote line for line the movie As Good as It Get's. That's my favorite.
