  • Joe Pesci has won acclaim for his wide range of roles, as he can do serious dramas like Raging Bull and laugh-out-loud comedies like My Cousin Vinny with equal skill. However, Pesci stopped acting full-time in the late 1990s, only appearing in a few assorted projects in the years since, leading many to wonder why he’s spending so much time home alone.
    It’s actually quite complicated, as it involves a music career, a few famous exes, and even a hitman, so strap in. Let’s take a look at the real reason why we don’t hear about Joe Pesci anymore.

    i saw Joe at a restaurant in NJ a few years back. He actually apologized to my wife and i b/c he and his friends had thought the restaurant was empty, so they were cussing up a storm. They only saw us on their way out. We didn't care; we couldn't see Joe et al from where we were sitting, but we heard their whole convo and it was one of the most entertaining lunches I'd ever had.

Mark Ruffalo would be an interesting choice. Same thing with Joe Pantoliano, maybe vincent D'Onofrio... Chazz Palminteri actually might be a very good choice as well. Also Andy Garcia. But we still need more young bucks... Michael Imperioli maybe... :D Or Milo Ventimiglia... I dunno... But there will neeed to be a good number of "soldiers"... Maybe time for some new talent/younger actors, with this movie...

    He was nuts in Goodfellas but supreme in Casino.

    • @visionvanson
      @visionvanson Před 7 lety +16

      I tell people this all the time. Although he won an Oscar for his role in Goodfellas, and while it may have been a slightly better movie, he had a lot more scenes in Casino. Not only that but the dialogue between him and De Niro in Casino were some of the best I've ever seen in cinema. He could have easily won an Oscar for that role as well but I guess since he already won an Oscar for a similar role in Goodfellas he gets a lot more praise for it. However I too thought he did an even better job and played an even more ruthless character in Casino.

    • @boatymcboatface6969
      @boatymcboatface6969 Před 7 lety +16

      He was heavily underrated in Casino. The scene with him and De Niro in the desert was the best "argument" acting I've seen to date. I'd love Pesci to come out of retirement and get back into acting. Gifted actors like him need to teach some of today's actors a few lessons about the profession.

    • @boatymcboatface6969
      @boatymcboatface6969 Před 7 lety

      Yeah exactly!

    • @visionvanson
      @visionvanson Před 7 lety +2

      You're right it's not all about Pesci being in more scenes but the roles he played in both of those movies were very similar and weren't distinctly different from one another. That kind of gangster role is what got him the Oscar in Goodfellas to begin with. So what I'm saying is in Casino you get a bit more from him as that type of character which fans of Pesci like myself may have enjoyed and appreciated a little more because he was in more scenes and had a lot more dialogue between him and De Niro that wasn't scripted in Goodfellas as much as it was in Casino. Not to say one or the other is the better movie because I love them both but as far as Pesci and De Niro's work in both of those classics I would have to say I think they gave an even better performance in Casino.

    Why doesn't anybody talk about his role in "The Super"? That was one of his funniest movies by far. He plays a Jewish slumlord named Luis Kritski who gets court ordered to move into his own building until it's brought up to code and from there it's hysterical. If nobody has seen it I highly recommend it as it is definitely one of my all time favorite Joe Pesci movies.

    I grew up with Joe Pencil in Belleville , NJ. He played hollow body guitar and sang songs , also did stand up comedy. My favorite was him doing porky pig at Yankee Stadium. I laughed so hard I cried.
    I first met Joe in 1959 at Saint Mary's C Y O. My mom just had been ill for a while . My cousins whom which I sang with , told me we were going to the dance at cyo.
    That night on stage with his band was Joe. He sang a song called My Mother's Eyes. No need to say tears came to my eyes thinking about my mom. He noticed me crying ,.when he came down he asked if I was ok. My cousin explained about my mom. I can go on about growing up with him , and the four Seasons and others in Jersey ,but we all don't have that much time. Lol.
    I lost contact when I went off to school to become an executive chef.
    I'd love to see Joey again. I got a million stories I can tell you about Joe Pencil. All good.
