    Also. Something people forget. The catapult type siege weapons are interact fire, meaning they can hit things out of a line of sight. Cannons won't shoot over walls.

    I used siege towers to load an opponents walls with longbowmen, and I protected my siege from there. It actually worked well, but you had to garrison and then drop them off up there.

    45:20 Sidge is op as fck. You have to throw 20 torches to destroy just one standing cannon. When an enemy has more of them or cannons move, destroying them is so hard to even without a cover.
    Yesterday I had a 4v4 game where enemies built an army made up of essentially nothing but siege weapons. They got a lot of mangonels, bees (china), bombards and springalds (Rus).
    They didn't need any cover for that because neither infantry nor cavalry could get close enough to attack it. We were trying to side or back attack, try to snipe them with our springalds but vs their aoe and anti sidge we could nothing.
    There is something wrong in my opinion, that mass sidge counters everything and the only way to destroy it is another sidge army with better civ's bonuses.
    In my opinion, units should deal way more with dmg vs sidge like it was in the AoE2 where sidge was a true supporting glass cannon that needed cover even when it was spammed. Oh! And in the AoE2 was friendly fire from sidge so when the enemy moved close enough, the player couldn't just spam attacks into the enemy and his own units because could lose them faster than kill the enemy.

      I had that problem too with this terrible map that had just one choke point in the middle in a 2v2. One player spammed bees the other knights and I couldn't get in range of the bees with springalds without getting attacked by the knights and trying to rush past the knights straight to the bees with knights and horsemen didn't work at all.

      If there’s no choke point, I’d suggest massing units that move faster than siege and going around to the back and killing all their villagers while they try to crawl over and stop you. Then run away and hit the next. Just keep playing Mongol-style offense. Don’t try to defend with buildings, etc.
      Also be sure to use the spaced out formation.
      And you should be scouting to see what they’re up to before they arrive at a massive siege army.

      the french cannons are absolutely ridiculous

    31:01 The nest of bees basically replaces archers. Turns out you're don't need em when you can fire batteries of rockets.

    I'm pretty sure that Shattering Projectiles (the english aoe-upgrade for trebs) has always been bugged and is literally not doing anything. Hope they fix it. Seems like so much fun if it works to use the treb as a mangonel from huge distance.

    15:34 I've got you. Firstly, you can use that to infiltrate people behind his walls before you attack, causing the disruption and a distraction to the real threat. Also, if someone is using ranged units on the walls, you can drop infantry directly unto them. You can follow that up with ranged units So they can't mass behind the walls. Although I can't imagine ever doing that Past the second age. Idk, though that's a really cheap way to get units behind enemy lines to cause disorder. That is a lot of population for a literal suicide mission though. Maybe throw a scout in there🤷‍♂️

    For testing purposes i would like to control 2 armies against each other from one PC just to mess around with the countering system. Is there such thing or do i need to do this with another computer and buy the game on that as well? I know there is counter chart out there but doing this test is fun for me.

    Siege Towers would be nice if you could just set them on walls and troops just walk up instead of having to garrison them in there

  • @MiroslawHorbal
    @MiroslawHorbal Před 2 lety

    Shame this was before the springald nerf given the effort you put in.
    One comment regarding shattering projectiles on trebs. I found it was actually pretty useful at punishing players who turtle up with armies behind walls. Also being able to safely block off a choke point from a distance by firing at the ground.
    Having said that, I doubt it would work well against a skilled player.

    how do you counter the war elephants? the description says its a cav and an archer but also a seige weapon. i'm confused cause i can't figure out what counters them

  • @danielbalder
    @danielbalder Před 2 lety +1

    They need to buff the culverin. It's redundant with the springald change.

    • @loudradialem5233

      Yes, but they can make springalds, so it isn't problematic. The Nest of Bees otoh...

    Under unique technologies, you should have mentioned that Mongol infantry can build any siege engine in the field with their upgraded blacksmith technology. That's a pretty significant miss. Great video otherwise.

    What I've found that's very annoying with my friends is an army of around 20 nest of bees. If anyone has a good counter for that please let me know XD

      Knights, mangonels and archers to kill the spears and crossbow defending the bees with few crossbow/spears mixed in to your army to protect your mangos from knights

    i wish units were visually easier to differentiate from each other. Everything looks to similar to each other compared to like starcraft. Actually starcraft is better in every way visually speaking and being able to tell whats what and the minimap on aoe4 also sucks
