This short little video shows one of my favorite captains of mine and me deciding by "Rock, Paper Scissors" on who gets to fly the next leg!

As a commercial pilot myself I cannot deny that this has happened.
We love you. Pilots look like super humans to me.😊 i feel shy to talk to the pilots when we land just want to say thank you mostly when the landing is perfect because i tend to get dizzy easier 😅

Over my nearly 50 years as a professional pilot (over 40 of which were in the left seat), I started each trip by working backwards from any airports that were restricted to captain-only landings. That determined who got the first leg. Then, we alternated for the rest of the trip.
I always thought it was strictly the captain's discretion. I'm just an enthusiast but I felt that if an emergency situation came up I would take control as the captain so I might as well have the controls on landing and take-off situations anyway. On the other hand maybe flying is the easier task and the captain might be better at spotting problems/ knocking out checklists, while increasing situational awareness.
@@MajorBorris yes, the captain is the one who signs the dispatch paperwork and is ultimately responsible for the conduct of the flight.
The captain is also a trainer with a duty to help develop future captains. That means letting the first officer have a few legs. But, the captain always has the prerogative to take the controls -- or to simple supervise -- anytime he/she deems appropriate.
I have considerable time in the left-seat of of aircraft with flight engineers. In many emergency situations, it is appropriate to let the first officer fly so the captain can more easily work with the flight engineer to manage the checklist and because he/she can watch what the engineer is doing on his/her panel.

I've done that on so many of my flights the guys always thought I was joking. But it's a really good way to keep things a little calm.

They ask the passengers if they want to see a fireworks display or not.

You're right.
Not true! If the person on the right is a check pilot, then the person on the left could be a first officer undergoing training or a check flight prior to promotion to captain. Also, it's possible for both pilots to be captains, although in that case the one on the right can only be pilot flying if they're a check pilot.

It's more like the person on the left is the Pilot in Command cause there can be more than one Captain
I show you a good way: if you’re cleared for right traffic pattern, the pilot on right lands, if left pattern then left pilot. This is better because the pilot can see the runway on downwind

If you look at the cockpit, there are 4 engines, meaning it can only be a few aircraft. Either 747, A380 or the A340, looking further into the details of the cockpit, there's 2 visual interfaces in front of the both of you, one shared screen, in both the A340 and the A380 there's more screens, now we know it's a 747, to find out which model, probably the 747-400 but I'm not sure
I think it’s actually an EASA documented recommended procedure 🤪
During my fliying years as a line captain, I used to give to the first officer those legs that appears to be more interesting or challenging. Thats the way I was treated during my days as a copilot. I also used to reserve for me those approaches and landings in very rough weather.

general rule of thumb is 50/50 time who flys, and first officer choose which flight he be flying, (is there is NO restrictions like on that airport only captain is allowed to land in normal situation)

You should use Sheldon's version, Rock Paper Scissor Lizard Spock (from The Big Bang Theory); makes it more interesting (but may delay flight though since it could take longer to settle).
Plot twist:
