    Arguably his best pass of the year wasn't on here. The 22 yard pass to Cooper Kupp on that superbowl winning drive. It was a no-looker and it was absolutely perfect, in the biggest moment.

      @@user-op2bh7rc9z I think Highlight Heaven uploaded a zoomed in version of it. Watch it again, because it was actually legit impressive on rewatch, lol. Stafford was staring and even facing his entire body towards the right side, then he threw the ball to the left across his body right into a tight window down the middle of the field, which was a perfect play considering it faked out the safety just enough to get Cooper open. It was a legit no-looker.

      Bro that might be the greatest pass of all time lol seriously just the balls on this man to even attempt that on a game winning drive IN THE SUPER BOWL LOL and dude had he not done that and had he not thrown it absolutely perfect that play goes nowhere and Bell has a legit shot at snatching it but Stafford played that boi like a fiddle😂😂 seriously at the time I remember saying bro that’s the best pass of the game period just the window he got it in…then I realize it was a no looked and my god that just elevates it to literally one of, if not THE best pass of all time. Certainly in Super Bowl history because he didn’t do it just to be fancy he did it because that was the only way that route had a chance to pull the safety towards the TE and my god it worked perfectly and was seriously a perfect pass even if he was looking but he wasn’t and I just cannot stop tripping over it. Makes me wonder what Bell thought of that play lol I’d love for someone to ask him so what went thru your mind when stafford made that throw while looking at the TE…cause I can’t imagine anything other than it was the most insane thing I’ve ever seen before lol

    Matt Stafford's career is now a prime example of the thing most fans seem to have forgotten over the years. Football is a team sport. Not a QB sport. It doesn't matter how great you are. If your team isn't good enough you're not gonna win a ring. That's just the simple truth of this game whether people like it or not.

      Peyton had good receivers for pretty much his whole career: Reggie Wayne, Marvin Harrison, Austin Collie, Demaryius Thomas, Julius Thomas, Eric Decker, Wes Welker. The list goes on and on. Most of the time a QB does a good team around them to win a chip. There’s a reason Stafford demanded a trade from the Lions. He knew the Lions were nowhere near a Super Bowl team and knew the Rams were missing a QB and look what happened.

    • @james_ford86
      @james_ford86 Před 2 lety +4

      @@matthewjoseph236 Stafford didn't "demand" anything. He went to the GM, according to both he and Homes, and asked for a trade, provided the Lions could find a good deal that would be mutually beneficial. If the Lions had not been able to find a trade that was worth a talent like him, Stafford would have sucked it up and played out the last two years of his contract, then left in free agency, depending on how the rebuild went. Stafford has never been a selfish player or diva, and he's not the kind of player to "demand" anything from his employers. More players should strive to be like him, a class act and true professional.
      The reason he didn't want to stay was simple: The Lions were going through yet another rebuild and, realistically, it would be at least 2-3 more years before they were competitive again, assuming everything went right. By then, however, Stafford would have been 36 or 37 years old and firmly in the twilight of his career. He wanted to move to a team ready to compete now so he'd have a chance to win while he was still young enough to keep playing at an elite level. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, but Stafford is the kind of guy who has the integrity to honor a contract if he doesn't have any other choice. He's not the kind of guy to just retire because he didn't get what he wanted.
      Anyway, I'm glad for both the Rams and the Lions in this trade. Both got what they wanted, which is rare in the NFL. The Rams got a Super Bowl ring and a Franchise QB with about 4-5 more years of really good play left in him, while the Lions got multiple 1st round and one 3rd round picks to help jumpstart their rebuild faster. Time will tell if those extra picks will help the Lions in the long run, but considering Brad Holmes (the guy responsible for drafting a lot of the Rams' current players) is now the Lions' GM, I'd say their chances are pretty good to hit on those picks.
      Also, Holmes did pretty well in his first draft as the Lions' GM. He landed a stud offensive tackle in Penei Sewell, who had his ups and downs early on in the season, but played extremely well for a rookie as the season wore on. He also landed a starting caliber NT in the 3rd round in Alim McNeill who really played well last year. He landed a WR in the 4th round in Amon-Ra St. Brown who took some time to get it going but seems like he'll be a stud in the years to come, based on how he played in the second half of the 2021 season. He took a LB in the 4th in Derrick Barnes who still needs some work, but flashed some nice speed, instincts, and tackling ability in his limited rookie action. He'll be one to watch moving forward and could become the Lions' starting ILB in the next season or two. Jury's still out on Levi Onwuzurike, the Lions 2nd round DT, as injuries derailed much of his offseason and early 2021 season. So, we'll see if he can stay healthy moving forward and become a meaningful contributor or not. Ifeatu Melifonwu, CB, was taken with the 3rd round pick the Lions got from the Rams. He played well in the limited action he got before landing on IR. Jury's still out on him as well. Jermar Jefferson, RB, was a 7th round pick, so not much was expected from him. That said, he made the team and even had a few good runs + a couple TDs, so that's not bad for a 3rd or 4th string RB pressed into action due to injuries.
      So, all in all, Holmes hit on 3 out of his first 7 picks, with the jury being out on 3 (meaning they're not obvious busts yet), and getting more than was expected of the 7th round pick. That's really not bad, especially considering his first round pick was a huge hit and he got the steal of the draft in St. Brown in the 4th round. If he keeps this up over the upcoming draft + the next, I could see the Lions contending in the not so distant future.

    I’ve always loved Matt Stafford. This year just proved he was a Top 5 QB in the league despite leading the league in interceptions. Along with Rodgers, Mahomes, Burrow, and Allen, he’s in the Top 5. All he needed were the right players around him to win the chip. Everyone wanted to blame Stafford for his issues in Detroit when he only had Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate pretty much. This year also proved Detroit was the problem. I would have replaced someone on here with Brady had he not retired however. That’s why I said in the league.
