    Somehow for me the export from Open Street Map doesn't show up on Illustrator properly, sometimes it doesn't appear at all, only grey squares and other times the writing is corrupted and the streets aren't nearly as detailed as promised

    Great tutorial, thanks! But I can't seem to open any map I tried because Illustrator shows me this message: "Clipping will be lost on roundtrip to Tiny
    . There are too many nested groups than allowed in Illustrator. The file may not open correctly." And then just opens the map and it's a mess. And I'm not that skilled in Illustrator to find a solution to this. Any help? Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks a bunch.

    when i downloaded as SVG, a popup appeared telling me that 'Clipping will be lost on roundtrip to Tiny' and everything was transparent. I tried raising the properties and width and colour byt nothing worked. I checked if there was a layer covering it or whether it was being hidden.No joy. Any help?

    Open street map seems to not want to let me download SVG files right now due to too high server usage. Did you run into this issue? I read on a forum that if the servers are above 25% load the site doesn't generate SVG maps for download or something.
    Waited about 20 minutes and I got a download of my city. Thanks a ton for this tutorial!

    When I open the.SVG file, I only get the picture I see in OpenStreetMap, with only two layers. I do not have the information and the layers and outlines that you get in this video. Did you do something else to get it like this? How did you open the file in illustrator?

    • @Warfeous
      @Warfeous  Před 5 lety

      Hi Linnea, thanks for your question. If you download an SVG version of the map from OSM, you won't get things organized and labeled in layers, you need to select and organize them yourself (although you can dig through each generated later in the Layers panel in illustrator).
      To get something more usable, you need to use an app like Maperitive to export the map to illustrator. Maperitive lets you define the color, strokeweight and visibility of items in the map-allowing for a lot of customization, but it's more technical.

    • @Warfeous
      @Warfeous  Před 5 lety

      I've got something you'll love - apparently Illustrator users can now use this extension to get vector maps right into Illustrator with no fuss. czcams.com/video/CwSj1ajy8SE/video.html THAT MAKES IT EASY! ;-)

    • @lhdy
      @lhdy Před 5 lety

      @@Warfeous Hi! Thanks for the answer. What I meant is that I don't get any layers at all when I open the .svg file. Even all the uncategorised layers as you show in your video. So I can not change the font or colours, or anything that you show here.. I wouldn't mind having them unorganised, as long as i can manually go in and change them. I am just making one poster.
      Maybe I am doing something wrong? Or OSM have changed their saving methods?

    • @Warfeous
      @Warfeous  Před 5 lety

      Hi Linnea, I tried this to see what you meant and noticed the SVG versions are raster-based (not editable), but the PDF versions are vector and can be edited. Ask OSM for a PDF version and open that PDF in Illustrator - that'll give you all the layers you are looking for.
      Have a great day!
