- Long time no see! In this video, I teach you guys how to make a City Map Poster for your room or house using Mapbox and Adobe Illustrator. In the coming weeks, I am going to make a video on how to make DIY frames to hang these up on your wall.
I will continue to upload design, photo, other visuals, and random life videos to this channel. Whatever I feel like making :) I look forward to making videos and sharing my skills and story, peace!

Thank you. That is an interesting video and method of working. The only remark I have is that you could have done it in Photoshop or InDesign as it is not vector graphics. Sometimes illustrator makes the file heavier and might not be the best choice for sending a poster to print, unless it's a vector image.

im having hard time finding any legal/agreements over how far can we use the maps. Do you have any clue about selling artprints based on the maps we create from Artbox?, thanks
Don't bother doing override opacity crap. Just click the filter icon at the top when youre in the layers section. Type "label" in the filter. Deactivate (hide) everything with the word label in it (at the time of making this comment, the hotkey for hide is "V" once you've selected an item in the menu)
If you can't find the filter icon, look at 6:36 up at the top left of the screen. It aays 70/70 next to it. That icon is the filter.

I was about to make my maps and sell these on Etsy etc but unfortunately, that is not possible right? Are there other possibilities where I can make use of my map-making skills for profit cuz getting a hospitality job in this day of age is nearly impossible

I guess I will win a trofee with the simplest question of the month of June: I want to show all the buildings in my little village (fill in black color). I see them when I zoom in to the village (zoom=16), but when i zoom out, to 14 or 12, i lost the buildings and can't see them anymore. There must be a simple solution for it. But unfortunately I can't find it.
Do you know how I can see the buildings while I zoom out the map? :)

What printer would you recommend for this type of print
You don't need to click the "+" -- just click anywhere on the menu item. Small thing but its a mild QOL increase imo.

Any idea of the copyright status of map posters made using this method? Can they be sold?
So do shops that sale map posters generate it via sites like this and then just sell it? Is that legal?
I am only able to download the map in 72 dpi in spite of putting 400 dpi while trying to export a high res pdf/jpeg. any clue on how to do it?

When creating an account I have to fill in credit card information, but I don't have one. Is there another way to use mapbox? Or is there another similar website?

You can edit that out in AI or in your RIP software

So this Mapbox software which is apparently used to make these map posters with Illustrator - how can I know if it's free for commercial use for an Etsy shop? I can't figure it out from their website, only if it's a mobile app or something because they count by users or something. This stuff always gets sooo confusing when I get into the specifics, and no one ever cover the specifics in YT videos. So I always end up giving up because I'm too scared to violate copyright laws etc.
