- Learn how to create high resolution custom Google maps in under 5 minutes. These maps are vectorised, allowing you to edit each path in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
This tutorial will teach you how to create custom google maps using Snazzy Maps snazzymaps.com/ - this is a free service that I have no affiliation with but find extremely useful for creating custom maps or plans in google maps.
You will learn how to bring custom maps into Adobe Illustrator and turn them into vectorized objects. This allows you to enlarge the custom google maps to whatever size you want without losing quality or resolution. You are also able to further edit the maps and turn them into high quality, custom maps or plans for your website, presentation, or anything else.
Snazzy Maps has a huge collection of custom map styles and presets you can choose from to quick insanely quick results.
I have started using this process for not only creating custom google maps, but also architecture site plans, location plans and master plans. Being able to quickly generate these maps will allow you to create stylised plans for your own architecture projects.
These custom maps are fantastic for site analysis diagrams or site plans.

what is vectorized maps?
Thank you so much!

Hey bro, would you know if you can remove some of the labels for some places? In the map styles it seems the only option is all on or all off. Also, if i were to do my own a custom marker, do you know which dimensions it should have? Cause the one they provide only says 36px. Thanks!
U r an amazing teacher
Thank you so much!
Hi, thanks for the wonderful video tutorial. I like your presentation video. Can you please share which app / software you have used to create this screen share video? Thanks
Thank you, God Bless 😇
Thank you Sukhpreet :)
If you want to search for a specific spot, there's a search bar in the upper right hand! Thanks for sharing this fab video! x
They also have a new Beta feature called "Build a Map" that allows you to search an exact location!
Hi Kyle, thank you for this video. For some reason, my computer is not allowing me to download a basic map off of Snazzy Maps. It is saying it is picking up Malware on the site. Have you come across this before?
Great video, thanks for keep it simple and easy to understand! Is there a way you can smooth the lines after you have vectorised it (for example. all those jagged and point bits when you changed the stroke colour to red) in AI? I also use the trace image in AI for maps, but I have issues with the outline strokes. Thanks!
Hey Rosi, good question. I'm not sure if you can rebuild the lines to smoothen them out. It might be something you have to google. Please let us know if you find a solution! Thanks
If you open the image trace window (window > image trace), you are able to mess with the tolerances and thresholds, to get the kind of lines you want. Try expanding out the advanced menu and playing with the options there. Hope that helps!
Do u know a wind analysis website that u used to use, u can share with us?
Good video 😊
Thank you!
Thanks a lot, getting a proper map off of google is impossible, this helps a lot
Really glad to hear you find it useful. Thanks for watching
Hey guy - I have a question according the magnetic shift - Now we have the "holy city - maybe Jerusalem or Mekkah or Medina" where will be those cities if the north will be the south and the south the north? and what if according to this also the west might get to the east and the east to the west? - I mean this could be a diagonal place somewhere in the ocean - wouldnt it would be cool if there might be Atlantis?
I don't have Illustrator, or any Adobe products, can I use Lightburn or Inkscape instead to finish the map?
All roads form a compound path. How can I split it if I want to change the colour of only one road. For instance, if I want to show a hierarchy of different roads. Thank you!
Hi Kyle, Great tips thanks for sharing. However i am wondering if the image trace quick action is a plug in? I can see the actual image trace option in illustrator however not under what your interface looks like (under the quick action tab) also your tab of image trace seems a lot easier to use, did you customise it into a quick action? or is it a plug in? thanks!
Open your "Properties" menu and drag the slider at the very bottom. They are hidden initially, for some reason. *shrug*
hei man great video great discovery thank you. got a question though, do you have idea on how I can remove all the writings?
Thanks! You can remove any of the text in the settings from snazzy maps. It might be under “labels” or something similar
i've recently (actually for about the past year) been thinking about studying architecture, any way i could contact you to inquire about a few stuff?
How can i rotate the map on snazzy maps?
didn't knew Ubbe made architecture tutorials lol
Skål!
can i import these maps to garmin?
Export button isn't available. SO I can't download the map.
is there any way I can choose a specific area in google earth and then just remove the other islands surrounding it so i can get a good picture of a geographic area of the place i chose?
Not with snazzy maps I don't believe, but you can easily crop it out using Photoshop or a similar software (GIMP is a free version similar to photoshop)
I need to create the whole map of the city of Buenos Aires, in America. The problem is that the maximum resolution of 1000 x 1000 pixels is not enough for that purpose.
will this work like an actual map? I'm wanting to create a map specific for my golf cart rental business so renters can enter in an address, and have a "golf cart" route to get to that location.
Hmm, it would need some extra work done in Photoshop or similar program but would make a great base map for that. Cheers
I don't see any UI for downloading maps. I believe it's been removed.
how to add alocation send to me to customize it
Stupid, random question....are you in/do you live in Tasmania? Just curious....I've always wanted to go there!
Unfortunately no! I would love to go there also. I live in South Australia and plan on going this year :)
Why don't you just screenshot it and then image trace > expand?
I wished Adobe Illustrator could detect straight accurate lines like in this example better. I am not satisfied with the quality of the result, been trying this approach with different settings many times. it has gotten better over the years but it just doesn't keep the quality of the original map lines.
Does the map show the buildings near by
Yes it can
what is vectorized maps?
I am kind of confused because Snazzy maps doesn't let me customize anything!!!
Hello my friend,
I'm Mehmet, I want to create a map design and sell it. Is copyright or license required? Thank you,
Hi Mehmet, I'm not sure exactly sorry. You might have to check with snazzy maps website or get in contact with them.
It's not that Snazzy puts out the vector. So it's still traced, and you cannot just select a road (as it is outlined, and all roads touching each other are 1 object). I know there are options to actually download a vector. A road that's a line. Gonna search for it, and hope to get back with the results.
Hi, I used snazzy too, but somehow my account disapeared or was deleted, what do I do?
You can create another account
there's a little magnifying glass to search for the location in the top right corner ;)
It would be much better if I could download it as vector. The auto trace feature in Illustrator isn't always the best.
True! I wish that was a feature too
but how about if you need streetview, exact address and surroundings?
You can search for an address with the search button in the top right corner of the Snazzy Maps map
@@kylesinko yes found it! Thank you!
Given the title, I was under the assumption the maps were going to be downloaded as vectors. If you're going to vectorize it yourself anyway, why not just use Google Maps to begin with?
You're given a lot more customization by using Snazzy Maps. Yes, it's not vectorised, but this short video covers how to vectorise it. Cheers
Trying to download and its asking me for an api key ???
You may be on the wrong site! Make sure it’s snazzy maps. It’s all on the website and you won’t need to download any software
It looks like Snazzy Maps has updated and removed the "download map images" feature. It's now only showing options for website utilization@@kylesinko
@@ContractorGrowthNetwork No, you can download it before registering you can simply go to the style you want and just select the location it shows on the top right side after selecting on the left side you'll see a button for download click on that after clicking you can register and download directly.
The download button isn't showing?
You may not be signed in.
right top corner = looking for location
Thanks! I noticed that just after posting this video. Should help others cheers
Bro I've been coloring a map for a week now via photoshop
Hahaha I'm so sorry to hear :( At least it's the last time
i can tell this guy is australian in a second
😂They just sound happy which is cool
Umm, This had nothing to do with Google maps?? I'm trying to edit the style of Google maps.
It seems Ayatolla Google doesn't want us to download anylonger .....😐
Having issues downloading?
