- This bowl turning video does not end in success BUT some great lessons were learned along the way. I also wanted to show a new wood dying technique I have been playing with in hopes it will inspire other woodturners to give it a try and see if they have more success with this wood dying process. But hopefully this woodturning fail video will show you what not to do in woodturning and especially when it comes to dying your wood bowls.

Woodturning and resin turning are incredibly fun hobbies to get into. As you can see by this video you can definitely get very creative. If it is softer than metal and dry you can most likely cast it in resin and turn it on a wood lathe. I think you need to pull a Stewart Furini on it. Add some reds and yellows and oranges and so on. You never know, it might look interesting. Have a good 1, Dave.
Could of been a cool route. Come back next friday to see the finale. Lets just say when it was finished the bowl sold within days 👍

I believe you’ve got a good thing going there. I don’t know what you’ve got in mind, so I cannot advise you. But I do think you may well have taken too much off, even before you took the scraper to it. It will be fun to see where you take this one to.

I think it should work nice with the Shellac. I have i think 3 videos on where i experimented with food coloring on some of my pieces and my favorite of the three was my Fever Tree Crotch bowl. I just don't think you can mix Food Coloring with Shellac as it is water based.
Ill come check it out. Please feel free to try out the technique. I think it has potential
@@RatedRWoodturning i would love to, but its very difficult and expensive for me to get my hands on Shellac here in South Africa. Its not so freely available here.
