Hope Newey writes another book. Would love to hear his detailed thoughts on all the options he has. He could go ANYWHERE.
Prob why he wants to leave RB right now. His stock, his worth is at an all time high. Might as well take advantage of that. I cant see him taking a similar position and would think it have to be a higher position as well
The first book was an exercise in narcissism and ego mania. Why on earth would you want another instalment?
@@unsaidatom2310what a strange comment.
Actually he can't, called a gardening leave clause. Or otherwise known as a non compete, he wouldn't be able to join a team until 27, start a design until 28 and that car see the track until 29. That would make him 70 years old. I'm thinking he's just ready to retire and have fun with all his other hobbies.
I think he's going to the south of France to enjoy his new sailboat
LMAO People with an IQ like him or other successful people like musk, zuckenberg always have to keep busy mate. They are not made for lying on the beach or for family activities such as birthdays of family or other loved ones.
I don't know. He's only been in racing for something like 40 years.
/s
Exactly, his Oyster 85 is finished, time to enjoy it before he’s too old.
100%.
How about him going into boat design stuff? Once expressed his interest in that. I’ve forgotten if he did actually get involved.
It is sad to see and hear about A. Newey leaving. Nothing is forever. Adrian will be miss dearly. His contribution is in measurable to and for F1. I would wish the best to this very talented man.
Its ONLY FAKE RUMOURS they keep repeating eachother
@@Redlingstein Possibly, but I said the same about Lewis to Ferrari the other day and I had to eat my words. XD I think it's retirement or Red Bull though. We'll see.
Ferrari has a unique advantage. They can offer him a “pick and race”-clause for their cars.
Ferrari can offer him everything. Facilities, chassis and engine, historic cars, le man’s team, prestige, challenge, culture, scenery, food, sea, money, Italian god status etc. He can do whatever he wants in Italy.
well said.
and don't forget, Ferrari politics...
true, I think the chance of designing his own Ferrari car is probably attracting Newey the most.
its Maranello - nothingville in the back of beyond
@@coolrunnings617vasseur is a racer though, and I think elkaan is well over not coming in second, I'd imagine those two will be throwing the kitchen sink and probably the whole house at getting newey
Going sailing on his new sail boat, at least for a year
I hope Mr. Newey has a wonderful "gardening" leave, he's a good man.
If you watch the passion he has out into his new yacht , you might realise he’ll spent a lot time sailing
I remember when you worked for Speed Channel and you would get Adrian on to explain F1 tech on the Red Bull - Adrian is a class act.
just imagine a LaFerrari designed by Newey. Also the potential of Ferrari building racing boats is a huge boost for both Adrien and the italian company.
Can't help wondering if he won't simply retire. Go out at the top.
Opening mountains of love letters from F1 teams and industry.
There's just too much money for him to cash in on just for a few more years
he wants to sail the world, watch his video inspecting his new boat
Hes 65 i think he will retire.
@@nakki123 he might, but for people like him, a lot of them can't let go. They love being in the sport. I really wouldn't be surprised either way.
ty Peter for the quick video
I hope he goes to Ferrari but I can't help but think he'd be smart to go out on top, retire, and enjoy himself. Go racing, go sailing, work on his own projects.
I think he tried the sailboat thing but realised he loved F1, it's his jam. Ferrari are favourites but Audi is the dark horse outsider!
It would be great fun if he joins one of the bottom teams, and then see them rise up the ranks ❤ a great story and adventure to unfold!
I also applaud PW’s channel. It’s one of the reasons why I haven’t bothered with Sky!
Would love to see him join Andretti, and add some leverage to get them into F1.
Imagine if he does and F1 still wont let Andretti in 😅
Yes that`s what i was thinking. Would be a great challenge for him that might appeal to him. And with the Gardening leave would tie in nicely when they hopefully make it on the Grid
What would he do? Andretti already pissed off the F1 owners and stands no chance of getting into F1. Michael has a abrasive side that pisses a lot of people off. That leaves INDYCAR and there is no need for an aerodynamics guy in the ultimate cookie-cutter series.
2028…Adrian would be 70 then 😂
@@mervyncharter??? Andretti has to wait till 2028 remember, Adrian is 70 then 😂
Jos was actually correct, the drama is tearing the team apart.

Hi Peter, it is always great to hear your knowledgeable opinion on most matters F1. Just in response to the coment about comparable engineers to Newey, being a Kiwi makes me biased but I have to say as a designer/driver Bruce Maclaren, performed well with the shortened life that he had and produced great cars even exceptional CanAm cars., just my thoughts but Maclaren could benefit greatly from Neweys joining, although Zac I am sure would have attemted already 🤣Keep up the great work Peter good to hear your coments on the subject.
Sorry I missed the live chat Peter. Just so you know, the EF Hutton comment was a compliment. EF Hutton was a large money management firm a là UBS or Morgan Stanley. Thier tag line in the 80's was : "When EF Hutton talks, people listen." - Cheers!
Love your work Peter!
Hi Peter, you need to pass this on to A.N
Your talent is unparalleled, your designs awe inspiring, massive respect to you, you’ve more than earned it. But for the good of F1 (competition) you can put your feet up, relax and enjoy all your rewards. You deserve it! 🏖️
When peter said Carlos and max at Audi, I instantly thought of the old small white guy meme “I’m gonna bust”
I hope he chooses to enjoy life now
I remember him well from the documentary on Jim Clark called "The Quiet Champion.
May he rest in Peace..
Adrian has just bought a new oyster yacht. I think he will be sailing off into the sunset
yeah i think so. but that would still mean the end of Red Bull domination
What?😂😂 newey has had hardly anything to do with rb 19 and 20.
Its pretty much all pierre wache@@nakki123
@@nakki123 Uh, no.
@@danabuch324 Uh, yes
@@nakki123 It doesn't mean that, in fact it's not likely that at all.
Red Bull has been attracting top talent and poaching other's top talent for many years, they have massive money, the best driver, and a winning history, they are loaded with some of the best engineers in F1. Adrian has been mentoring and developing those engineers for many years, Pierre Wache is basically his protege and any team would jump at the opportunity to get him. There are many credible sources saying, including Adrian himself, that he hasn't been as involved in the last two cars, taking a more advisory role and allowing Wache more freedom to apply his vision (how much, I don't know, but Adrian clearly has a lot of trust in Pierre's ability, as well as the other engineers).
Red Bull's future dominance is much more so tied to the performance of their upcoming PU in 26, than it is to Adrian Newey. That and just how well everyone else deals with the new regulations. Red Bull also poached many top engineers from Honda, to go along with the rights to use the current Honda PU technology for their new in-house engine.
Adrian is the best in history, but there is a massive team of brilliant engineers behind him, who have been working with him for many years, so Adrian would be leaving Red Bull in good hands.
Great talk, thank you
Thanks for a gre4at cast Peter .. Where does Joss come into this equation ?
Fun fact is that Wache and his team who is the lead designer, not Newey, again NOT Newey. Newey even mention this in the interview but British wont listen.
Do you know which interview or have a quote of what Newey said specifically there? Most reports I’ve seen (being in the US) is that Wache was second to Newey who was the Chief Technical Officer. I know Wache’s title as Technical Director is also a top role but I think internally it was suggested that Newey guided the direction.
What’s your point other than you have some sort of fixation with the British?
If Newey leaves RB he may or may not take senior members of his team with him. If that happens then Red Bull will need to restructure, if he leaves on his own they’ll continue as they are.
As I said, what point are you trying to make other than showing the world how defensive and worried you seem to be about the future of Red Bulls engineering strength?
@@sultanoftippoo3857 British always tries to avoid giving credits to max or Alonso.. where they always gave full credit to hamilton "another master class by lewis". Since Max or Alonso, its "look at how dominant the car is"' another "design miracle from newey" whilst its actually a fun fact that Wache and his team who is the lead designer, not Newey. They constantly repeat Newey and Milton Keynes. It embarrassing!
@@ALMX5DP Nope, its actually Wache who got idea from the airflow upstairs from Mercedes. Newey obviously is the highest ranking person in the technical team of RB but he also focuses a lot of his time on the RB project. Waché is actually the lead designer for RB in these regs so far and obviously the whole technical team of RB is absolutely insane.. He said actually recently, he also mentions its the team not him particularly.
@@bobkeul7682 Of course the British media will talk about British drivers, teams, engineers etc just as Dutch, Spanish media focus on Dutch & Spanish drivers because that’s all they can talk about.
The reality is the British have a rich heritage in F1 where Red Bull, Mercedes, McLaren, Aston Martin, Alpine & Williams cars are all designed and built in the UK. Of course key Red Bull people like Pierre Wache (French) Ben Waterhouse (British) Enrico Balbo (Italian) & Craig Skinner (British) are key members of the Red Bull engineering team but the fact remains many of your YT posts have an anti British bias, why is that?
Nation envy seems very strong with you. Just try to enjoy your driver winning races whilst it lasts and have a little respect for the 1,400 or so (Mainly British) men and women in Milton Keynes who have given him the opportunity to give him the machinery to win all his titles.
He will come join us out sailing around the world, he should, life is short and he needs to enjoy what he has left.
Come sailing !
Adrian Newey must have had strong reason to leave the RB galaxy. By staying within RB he was involved in the technical back up the F1 team proposed to the Red Bull Alinghi Racing team, lead by the Societe Nautique de Geneve, ex multi winner and next challenger of the America's Cup. America's Cup is the sailing equivalent of F1. Adrian's talent would have expressed itself in the deisgn of its foils and sails, with a unique expertise. Adrian passion for boats dinot overcome his need to leave.
Now we just need someone to spill the beans on Horner and Masi relationship
Masi? The man who agreed with all the team leaders in 2021 that the title would not be decided under a safety car, so he let them race? Ffs you lot need to let it go ✊🏻💦
??? Geez get back to reality man…
Masi was helping merc all season😂
Please Peter. Write books about f1 from your perspective over the years. I would read every volume of it.
I'd like him to go to Andretti/Cadillac. They have the resources and know for the best 26 power unit. Also he will have a hand in Indy cars which he prefers to F1.
One of Cam's recent episode's (Love your appearances on there btw!) he states that Adrian's contract will only allow him to work for another team starting in 2027. I would imagine a massive payout will be needed between the teams for Newey to work for a team sooner than that. Thoughts?
Pierre Waché !! RB17 hypercar-project !?
Wache renewed with RBR recently. RB17 is not finished yet no, will be finished in 2025 he said on RBR podcast earlier in the season.
Ross Brawn, epitome of the Peter Principle, and no mention of Rory Byrne?
Literally NO EVIDENCE of his happening at this time. Pure SPIN from news outlets.
So mr Windsor was right what are you saying now
Hi Peter, how about to Williams with a share of team offer
Thank you
So I'm sure someone else has mentioned this but he has had a oyster around the world sailing yacht built. He was always retiring. Watch the program about it on CZcams. You can't do long sails and formula one .
I wonder if Alonso decided to stick it out with Aston Martin because he knew that Newey was coming on board?
I tried to find out the source of this information, and BBC apparently has been able to independently verify a previous rumour through a source in high level in RB. Has Helmut Marko been spinning his story again?
Interesting point about Poor Carlos, I didn't think about that. But to have to leave Scuderia, when they just pick up Newey. Ugh. What a dream team. Yea that would be a kick I'm the nuts.
Mr.Newey should go to Andretti motor sports.
I doubt it but that would be great
Ferrari would be a great swan song move and a possible 4th winning car
Oh man. Newey with Hamilton at Ferrari together? That would be epic!
It’s the only thing on the cards, he’s been approached many times before by Ferrari, and now with LH headed there(he seems to have inside knowledge when planning a move) I’ll bet F1 are gonna bring Ferrari back and have them as the dominant face of F1, remember, it’s entertainment now not sport
Hey Peter massive fan I love your super in depth knowledge of everything f1. Here’s something really different that I personally would love to see Adrian do: pagani are my favorite car brand making the most beautiful street and race cars in my opinion. Horacio pagani and Adrian teaming up to make limited edition track and street cars with Pagani’s sleek design and Adrian’s aero knowledge that would be epic to see. One can dream
I wonder what Pierre Waché will do. I think al lot of the current design on the RB19/RB20 is coming from him.
Sorry if I am late to the news but has he officially announced that he will be leaving RB? Or is this just a speculation? Has any news outlet confirmed this with him officially?
Newey is a genius. But Waché is actually running the RB development
You could add a bit more gain to your mic levels. You are quieter than most videos
I wish YT would normalise the volume on all ads and videos.
Getting blasted by the volume in ads is my biggest annoyance with YT.
Fans of the only 2 time champion with 3 trophies in denial, mourning, and moaning in the comments section is hilarious.
Newey could consult for Andretti right away as they are not an F1 team yet 😊
As an owner of 2 Audis I like the idea of going to Audi. As an Italian, I'd love for it to be Ferrari. I'd be cool with it being Mercedes, Aston Martin or McLaren. This should be interesting to see where he goes.
Peter did you see the pic the other day from Zac B having lunch with Adrain with caption "I'll just leave this here"............
I think it be cool to see him go to under dog team to bring them to the top
Just watched skys report on it and it is not certain, might just be speculation

@@degeautdfanfirst emm the bias broadcasting corporation. Lol state propaganda mate
Speculation; RBR would of come out hours ago to squash the rumours.
The part about Newey's contract expiring after 2025 is certain though. It's just the early release for 2025 that's uncertain AFAIK.
@@colofsco1 they already did. there has been nothing official supporting this speculation besides random news outlets regurgitating the same rumor.
I think he's going to Maranello because that would be a challenge. He has won championships with Williams, McLaren and RB. Ferrari hasn't won anything since 2007 and they have pretty good cars right now. He just might be able to put them on top.
He was in Italy last week
Love your content! My theory is that: 1. Honda to Aston, 2. Aramco’s budget, 3. Lawrence will to win, 4. Lance’s vagueness about his future, 5. Adrian to Aston => Max to Aston Martin
What if Newey wants to downscale? What if he wants a real back-to-basics challenge? If trust issues really broke down his relationship with RB, James Vowles seems like the guy I’d want to work with. Williams would be a hell of a challenge, not that they could pay him what he deserves, but maybe he wants that coming-up-from-nothing sort of experience once more in his career.
I think Newey knows RBR are in trouble with their own 2026 power unit…
Hence why everyone is gravitating to engine manufacturers (Ferrari, Merc, Aston-Honda).
Will garden leave requirements apply, or how do they apply to the Newey/RBR situation?
If his contract runs out, there shouldn’t be any gardening requirements I believe
Peter, you started by saying you don't really know Adrian, but the next comment is, you know him quite well, one of the downsides to being a CZcamsr/content creator?
Yeah which one is it lol
If you watch him a few times you start to see these patterns. He doesn’t know as much as he wants people to believe he knows. It gets especially bad when he tries to finesse his way around technical topics 😂
@@MrEo89Funny you're still watching and commenting.
@@MrEo89Peter was Williams team manager in the early 90s when Williams were gearing up to dethrone McLaren & Senna. I think it’s safe to say to say he knows Adrian but perhaps not beyond a working relationship.
Newey leaving RB is good news on so many levels. Even if he decides not to re-enter F1 then it's a sort of justice for the exceedingly unpleasant Horner and punishment for RB sticking by Horner when it would have made so much sense to do the right thing . But hopefully he goes to another top team and all of a sudden F1 becomes watchable again.
Even if he does leave his RB contract is until the end of 2025, then one year of garden leave, so can't start working for another team until 2027.
yeah and he will be almost 70 by then
Those contracts aren’t worth the paper they’re written on, he’ll have had a Claus of some description in there that allows him to walk into the next team
"Flowers are only flowers because they fall"
“I don’t control the wind, I only study it”
I rather suspect he sees the power games from Austria. Egos.
If you read his book he hates that type of politics which is why he left McLaren.
Selfishly I hope newey goes to Ferrari so he can put put a second book detailing what it was like working with max, lewis, and charles. It was interesting hearing about the drivers, in particular seb and mark webber with their different strengths in technical development as well as the behind the scenes look
It's interesting that the MOST VALUABLE thing to happen to change a team's fortune is the move of an Engineer. Not a 7x Champion?! Guess that answers the Car vs Driver argument.
Adrian Newey knows how to live!
The way RBR appears to have been set up, the CEO does not have access to all deals and negotiations. What appears to be more surprising is that Helmut Marko can include clauses in driver contracts without the knowledge of the CEO. Those clauses may include HM being disassociated with RBR and drivers leaving because of this. Whole thing is strange. I appreciate HORNER making statements like “ no one is bigger than the team” and “ contracts won’t hold people if they do not want to work”
Except Horner does feel he is bigger than the team clearly. There are 4 main characters in this racing team, Horner, Max, Newey and Marko. Three of them are on one side, Horner is on the other. So if he really believed what’re says he could very easily save the team by leaving,
He has bought a 5 million dollar Oyster sailboat, I do facts, he’s going to sail around the world with his wife when his boat is finished and his RB 17 track car project is finished.
This shouldn’t be a surprise, he has build that team and organization and put Wache in charge so he has time to do what he wants to do.
Exactly. RBR is already prepared for Newey leaving at any point in time with Wache renewed recently too
The why announce or leak now?
@@qwj68boots if you have one fact for me of what is said let me know, I’m motorsport fan, not a F1 circus fan doing gossip and speculate about peoples motives, I’m from a relative decent country and culture that is not obsessed with destroying reputations and lives as the British are.
Peter, what really changed the dynamic is LH leaving to Ferrari… since then, it’s been great for F1 movement and excitement off the track as it’s been some what boring on the track
Not really, none of the RB drama has anything to do with Lewis.
I cant see him gelling with Stroll senior very well
Stroll senior is easy to get on with, why do you think Alonso extended there? Because he finds him impossible or difficult?
@@rorykeegan1895 Because he’s run out of options!
Hm, I think that since this IS about trust and feeling the team is a good environment, I could actually see Max wanting to leave for much the same reasons that Newey would leave, and especially after learning that Newey was off elsewhere too. It does look like the Max camp was unimpressed with Horner cozying up to the Thai part of Red bull to try and "go it alone" without RB Austria, so would he really feel that content staying there?
By all means Aston Martin Racing - Honda could potentially poach Newey AND Verstappen if they play their cards right! But nobody knows if Newey is retiring or not.
I was thinking the same thing, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Max sign for Mercedes in 2026…they’ll come good again
I wonder if marko will leave, join, Mercedes, and max will trigger his release
Early and go to Mercedes, jos is saying marko is out soon, and max contract is tied to him
could Newey become a "free agent" ? Could he offer advice (for a hefty fee of course) to any and all F1 teams?

I really don't think he will continue in F1 because Newy wants options RB17, Valkariye, racing, and testing cars. Other teams will demand he is 100% to build an aero team and lead it more-or-less from scratch... Regarding Red Bull, I think they are already putting a succession plan since Newy last contract renewal. He is 65, his contract expires before the active-aero era, for sure they have a succession plan.
Peter, would Newey thrive if he went to Ferrari? or would the sophisticated and pressured management structure mean he would never have the overall control as he has enjoyed at other teams.? so many designers of the past have struggled there because of its unique pressure. would he have the freedom and establish the creative environment he needs? great videos btw I love listening to your thoughts.
Turn up your Fing volume please!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is it possible he would consider doing a Gordon Murray and privately design race and road cars.
Hi Peter….when you say all these teams would love Adrian……..does it mean if he arrives, a top engineer needs to be let ?
Competetion will be levelled at last as long this stays an aero formula. As soon this moves to engine formula then bang Newey factor is neutralized.
Max will probably stay till 28 if the 26 car is competitive and Redbull Powertrains Ford deal works well...
Adrian at Ferrari with Lewis would be fantastic and would very much explain why Lewis is so comfortable with his decision to join the Scuderia.
Ah okay… pure speculations... I’ll be gone again. Have a nice weekend and I’ll be back for your impaccable analysis videos during race weekends
Audi announced Hulkenberg same day this rumour maybe link to Audi timing...
if asrian really loves the challenge i would love to see him at Haas
How likely could it be that Hamilton seemingly haphazardly signed up with Ferrari based on inside info that newey would go to Ferrari??
There have been plenty of WC cars that were not designed by Newey. And the current car has not been designed by one person. Plus the 2026 regulation change is very much engine driven, which is not Neweys field.
I think Max will not like Newey leaving, but mainly because he does not like the idea of the team falling apart and the Mateszitch spirit disappearing,
Newey is quite the Nationist for Britian, he wants to win! And will support Lewis at all cost!
Speaking as a huge Newey fan and even bigger Chapman fan.Having the best designer doesn't guarantee success even the best have more failures than winners.
I think we have our answer: There was a story of Adrian's wife caught house shopping in Italy.
Kind of think he just retires, but I also had the audi thought. VW has a massive amount of money, they must be worth more than any of the other brands. So they could outbid anyone. The idea of Max and Carlos going there too is extremely compelling.
In his biography Adrian mentions two key things on his motorsport engineering bucket list: going to Ferrari and working with Lewis Hamilton...
I have a hunch that whatever the deal is it was done long before the Horner entrapment/media-assassination storm broke.
Newey has always left teams in a rather disorderly fashion...
I’d laugh my @ss off if Newey went back to McLaren, trumping all these rumors about Ferrari, Mercedes or Aston Martin. I imagine Zak would have a few things to offer Adrian, outside the racing team. Perhaps some amazing road car project? Maybe a Le Mans entry or some other racing category?
Sneaky fast w/the story!😉
If he goes to Ferrari and returns them to glory then he would be spoken of in the same breathe as Schumacher
I believe if he does leave the only good option for him personally would be ferrari
1. No AM because there will be a conflict with dan fallows who himself is very highly regarded and expensive
2. Not Merc because they neither have the environment that suits Adrien (especially the merc of now) nor can they offer him a the prestige and challenge that he desired his entire carrier
3. Not Audi because,He already build quit a successful team from scratch also it requires time for new team to become a wc team and money is not a factor for him
4. Mclaren, this would be my 2nd option but he has already been there and won with them
5. Ferrari because, well its ferrari and he would get to work with Hamilton ( whom he said he'd like to work with), Fred and Charles. And he is also a ferrari fan
Also a wild guess would be Williams ( i would love that)
6. He will retire and sail off into the sunset with his new boat
Would love to see lewis n newey together
