- The fishing was insane on this evening. I caught so many fish. Macquarie Perch, Golden Perch (yellowbelly) and more... The bites were non stop as I just caught one fish after another. Some great fish and some not so great fish.

As soon as you mentioned Eldorado. It gave me flashbacks to one of the greatest bakeries that only just recently closed "The Firebox Bakery" one of the best Bakerys in all of Australia ironically in one of the smallest towns
I had heard good things about it, but never actually visited. I have a feeling that my friend's son and daughter in-law use to own it.
I filmed there about 18months ago.. it's likely I meet them :)

Haha I'm a shocker for it. Thanks mate. This is a real Macquarie Perch hotspot this one. I am a part of a citizen science program with Victorian Fisheries to help monitor the Macquarie Perch movements.

@@robbiefishing yeah we are all good finally got it back last night, our area is running off generators apparently, was a massive storm Xmas night I’ve never seen anything like it was apparently a tornado with 160 to 200 km/hr winds and we were right in the middle of it

I've been watching your channel for a few years and I've noticed your catching more Maquaris and Yellowbellies, and the quality of them is mostly getting better.
Thanks Robert. That is a great observation. Both fish have been stocked into this area in recent years. Macquarie Perch are endemic to this area but had become extinct from the entire system. There's been a huge amount of work behind the scenes to bring them back, hence why they're totally protected.
The recovery work has been amazing.
The golden Perch are a much more prolific species, but this is a little bit upstream of their natural range. Without stocking there are very few in the system naturally.

Gday Robbie I have no clue if it would help or not but I have caught 2 of the Macquarie perch in Trawool (inbetween seymour and yea) in the Goulburn river around 30cm I do have photos to provide if you want but just thought you might like to know or let the scientists know keep up the good work mate

Usually 6lb mono if I am bait fishing.

Hi Catherine, no I don't eat them. I have tried and they are terrible. I have tried several times and have found a way to make them taste OK, but the bones are horrendous.
Didn't want to watch these fishing videos of you catching all these fish while we are camping at Lake Fyans and catching nothing. Putting in the hour's but only got 1 redfin.😢
