The BEST redfin perch fishing that I have ever had

  • In all my years of fishing, I can't remember ever experiencing redfin perch fishing like this. This was unbelievable. What an awesome session we had.
    In case you are wonderfing why I call them redfin perch, instead of just redfin, that is because in many parts of the world they are just called perch, so now my video will hopefully turn up in search results for people searching for redfin, or perch.

    Being inspired by your fishing lake Buffalo tinny fishing and the 2 mtr swell at home. (Bairnsdale).
    I headed over Hotham with my tinny and my dog.
    Approximately 100m of trawling had my first ever Murray Cod in the boat.
    50cm and released.
    Spent the rest of the day dodging ski boats looking for more Cod.
    Sunday morning trawling for redfin.
    Found a school of 30cm ish and quickly filled the esky.
    Threw about 20 back and kept 22 at 30cm.

    Robbie ol mate when I used to fish redfin in a lake in SA we used to put small redfin under a float bout 2M below float & cast it out in the deep water * the biggest redfin I caught this way was approximately 45 ish cm

      @robbiefishing  Před 3 lety

      Hi Dave, that is a beautiful fish. You may nit believe this, but on this trip I caught a tiny redfin. I Decided to put a hook through its back and lower it back down. LOL.
      Out of habit, I threw the fish back in the lake, the went on to completely re-rig my bait rid with a lather hook and sinker, and then looked down and said "Where did I put that small redfin". Haha 🤣🤣🤣

    good session :) are redfins native to australia? cause they look identical to the european Redfin Perch.
    decent perch though. caught my record last year in my favorite lake, 54 cm and 3,3 kilos. on a 0-4 gram rod. now that was fun ^^
    cause if they are the same speicies, then i got some tips for ya! especially regarding the times where you cant get them.
    they are very sensitive to airpressure, due to the fact that unlike most fish, they cant regulate pressure in their swimbladder proper.
    so the magic limit seems to be airpressure abot 1009. bellow it and they are extremely hard to get at.

    • @robbiefishing
      @robbiefishing  Před 2 lety

      Thank you so much for the fantastic tip mate. Yep, these are the exact same ones that you catch over there. They are perch in Europe but we call them redfin. Sometimes we call them English Perch.
      Thanks for the great tip about air pressure. My biggest is 43cm. WOW a 53cm model is truly enormous. Well done.
