- I keep getting this question from my friends, colleagues, customers and family about what your boss or what your IT team can see you in Microsoft 365 and Teams.
So what can your boss see you doing in Teams? The short answer is, everything. I'll show you some examples and do a deeper dive in this video.
Today, I'm going to address what we can see about your account inside the Microsoft 365 back end.

You're welcome. It really depends on the configuration applied but, yes, it is entirely possible.

What do you mean “you can see how often we were actually doing something”? Like keystrokes in another app
Can they see anything outside 365 like using CZcams or using mouse jiggler app name to prevent idle?
Not from the Teams backend but if you are using VPNs or have software that monitors usage, then yes.
can ms teams administrator take my desktop screen screenshot automatically without my consent, even ms team is not working in foreground ?

I was just wondering, if I test my webcam by clicking on the device tab in Teams ( so my camera is on, but only because I am testing it in the devices tab) I am not actually in a meeting or talking to anyone, can my employer see me through my webcam if I am only just testing the cam to see what I look like?

A few questions. 1. Are calls recorded or transcribed? Can the manager eavesdrop on calls. 2. I know managers can read messages but wouldn’t companies require them to have a pressing reason to? Or is it just company by company?
Calls aren't always transcribed. It depends what has been setup at the organisation. Managers can potentially eavesdrop and/or listen after the fact. The last question really depends on your company policy but I'd always assume your calls are recorded and transcribed on any platform provided by work.

@@CloudContext Teams can show which apps are used, right? So on a MS Wndows OS, it seems like MS Teams would show something in its analytics tracking to show that notepad was being used 8 hours a day, no?

Can a boss listen to what you say in teams meeting if it’s only an audio call?
Or is it just how long the call lasted but not what was specifically said?
Unless a third party tool is used, there is no recordings or transcripts.
If i use my microsoft edge web browser while on teams my boss can see it? And if i use other programs like whatsapp other applications outside microsoft 365 my boss can see it and know that i used it while on teams?
No, Teams isn't a monitoring tool or application control software.
@@CloudContext my computer has a work account network i think that is the name connected that i connected through teams, but i was reading a bit and saw that this is only for me to have access to content of the work. This allows the company to track what i do in background or other apps? thanks so much in advance!

Question though - if you have your personal email added to your corporate Outlook profile/app, can your company access and download those email items too?
Thanks Nick. No, they won't be able to access your personal mail in your corporate Outlook but remember, you're probably storing a local copy (some of it) of that mailbox on your device so it can be accessed from your machine if someone wanted to - although it wouldn't be live.

Depends on configuration, but potentially, yes.
can my boss read private 'chat messages' between me and my colleague..
An administrator with the right access can view your Team's chat messages.
Outside of the US, laws prevent this kind of tracking.
If my webcam is off can they still see me?
No.
So you also mean that my boss can read my personal chat with other employees on team??? really?
Hi Muhammad. It's definitely all recorded and can be accessed via a Teams or M365 administrator, so yes, the chances of your boss being able to get it from your IT team is very likely.
