I weny to eyemouth more than once last year. One time I even walked all the way from Reston station. Unfortunately Gunsgreen House was closed but it was a good day out - I liked the museum about Eyemouth and surrounds which had a lot about the fishing disaster.

Thanks! I’d intended to check out Reston Station but I ran out of time. A long walk though! 😀

I picked up watching this, from the notice board, that the family groups are further grouped together above their ships, making it even more powerful a tribute. Didn’t notice when I visited - but an excuse to go back. Also to try some of those chips!

It’s very moving! And definitely makes you want to research the history! I need to do Burnmouth to complete the set of memorials! 😀

Giocapazzis fish and chips are amazing - plus a top class cafe, Rialto. Just moved here - great place

Back in the 50's(yes, the 50's) my Gran and Mom and I flew over from the States and spent 6 weeks in Eyemouth visiting my great Uncle Arch(he lived in the Coast Guard cottages on the other side of the harbor) actually almost directly behind you when you are talking near the end. I remember great piles of fish on the wharf, wandering around on my own and this huge seawall...looking at it now, guess it wasn't so big, but I was only a kid. By coincidence my best friend moved to a village near Eyemouth 50 years later, so I have had a chance to visit a number of times...you just had chips, but let me recommend the fish also, have eaten there twice!

That memorial is stunning. Wouldn't mind a tray of those chips as well!

I did get quite emotional (about the memorial) - it’s so powerful. 🛥️
