SCOTLAND Celebrates! East Linton Gets a NEW Station
is your youtube video on saturday is at the edinburgh festival on saturday rog edwards tv?
No! 😂
In my experience, Lumo has much more comfortable seats than LNER.LNER seats are so hard they become painful after 2 hours. Lumo is much better but their locomotives are not as reliable. Getting back to seats, it isn't that expensive to get this requirement right, is it? LNER doesn't seem to take its passengers seating needs very seriously for long journeys. And, it's trains are dirtier. Also, and even in first class, they are always running out of sparkling water and also don't have enough water in the lavatories to enable you to wash your hands. These are basic points!!!! Get it right LNER!! Enjoyed the footage of the views on your journey, particularly Berwick and into Scotland.
Thanks for watching, Duncan. Lumo are my preferred East Coast train company for standard class now. Maybe they should have ordered longer trains because sometimes it’s hard to get booked. 🤔
Have you been to see the Anderson boat lift? A real step back in time and still used today
I hadn’t heard of that until I did the research for this video! Now it’s on my bucket list! 😀 Thanks for watching.
@@RogEdwardsTV it's not far from us and we've been and watched from the bridge a few times Considering it's age it's some machine.
John Logie Baird made the BTH Central famous in 1927 when he made the historic connection of a television picture from London to the Central. They have a ballroom named after him.
Thanks. The hotel is positively steeped in history! 😀
I must say this hotel and the view are uncomparable. I really liked this video! Even in a rainy day the sea view is fantastic. thanks for sharing this pearl ^_^
Thanks Laura. One of my favourites for sure. Full of character. 😀
Theses hotel stay must be costing you a fortune buddy but great review as always
Thanks Michael! I've been doing the "cheaper" hotels first, but eventually there's the likes of Gleneagles and The Balmoral, and the London Hotels like the Andaz which have truly eye-watering prices. 😮
I am very sorry to say that I was disappointed with this hotel. First off, the shower/bathroom having a stair in it was danger ( not clearly shown ) not to say not a disable friendly hotel. Most high priced hotel rooms have a bath tub not just a shower. It was a very dark hotel ( could have been camera lighting ) and I am not talking about the room with 5 windows. I would have loved to have seen the other hotel to compare, but I am guessing it is a better hotel.
Thanks for watching. 😀
I used to have holidays there as a kid, thanks for bringing back so many happy memories!
Thanks, Steve. I remember my parents took us to Morecambe when we were kids and I have memories of Pleasure Land before they changed it to Frontierland. 🎢
Great video! Very expensive, but you pay for what you get! Loving the foggy glass in the bathroom, lovely large room, the view out of the balcony is exceptional, but the Grand staircase is just WOW! amazing!
Thanks so much! 😊 The staircase is fab! Such a stunning centre piece. 😀
The most beautiful hotel you’ve visited so far (well as a youtuber). The Landmark might be at the same level, but they don’t got that amazing scenery. And yes, it’s like watching scenes from Poirot, my favourite detective 😊
Thanks! I need to watch those Poirot episodes! 😊
Stayed there when it reopened in 2008, gosh time goes fast. Friends are actually staying there this weekend, small world . We did go to Morecambe for our summer holiday in 1980/1. They had a sun centre which had a few good years, but the weather put paid to it making any money and turned into a white elephant. Which was a shame because we were fortunate because when went the weather was fantastic.
Thanks so much for sharing your memories. Hope your friends enjoy The Midland! 😀
@@RogEdwardsTV spookily they have just sent me pictures as I read your reply. 👍🤣😎
@damianleah6744 Hope the weather is good for them. It will make such a difference.
Another CZcamsr who cannot control his volume levels, music a ear-splitting volume and then dialogue too quite, please consider trying to mix a consistent level of volume throughout your video.. Otherwise good content
I use a loudness normalisation filter on the final output which is set to -15 LUFS which is supposed to create the consistent level of volume you’re looking for. So sorry it doesn’t work for you.
That's rather blown my socks off Rog, what a Place! 👍 Definitely fancy trying that hotel, it looked fabulously different and full of character. I stopped over in Blackpool on a road trip last year, I should have made it Morecambe. That's for sure on my to-do list for the future. Best one yet, well done! 👌
Thanks, Phil. I really enjoyed this one. I had wanted to have a snoop around the old Frontierland site but the rain defeated me. 😀🎢
@@RogEdwardsTV well we really enjoy what you do man, and how you do it. You maybe wonder why you do it on weather days like that one but I hope you never stop 😀👍
this wasnt a BTH hotel when I worked for them from 1970 so must have been sold off ,,They had 33 hotels whenI worked for them ,,,Had dinner in midland about 1975 and they had a beautiful mural all up the stairs ,,,pity thats gone
I know most of the BTHs were sold of in the late 70s and early 80s (by Mrs Thatcher) - so perhaps this was one of the first to go? Thanks for sharing your memories. 😀
Stayed in Morecambe a few years ago and we walked by it a few times and I always thought it looked beautiful.
It’s a very interesting building and in such a prime spot on the promenade. Thanks for watching. 😀
Oh im absolutely loving this one, I love art deco, yet the inside is just perfection.. they done a perfect job. The views as well looking toward the Lake District hills across the bay are fab too ❤
Thanks so much. I bet it's breathtaking on a clear sunny day! Have you ever been to Burgh Island? That's on my list. 😀
It's such a shame Morecambe couldn't afford (or didn't want) to complete the statue of Morcambe (without Wise )It's not a patch on the one in the foyer of Blackpool's Winter Gardens
Thanks Paul. I'll need to check out the one in Blackpool the next time I'm down. 😀
One hotel that's full of style and character, Roger. I never knew this railway hotel even existed but looking at a map of Morecambe I did see that it's a fairly short walk from the current station. Cook to order breakfast is a treat and it works at this hotel because I suspect guests aren't in a hurry. But at city centre hotels guests may have limited time and cannot afford to wait for a cooked breakfast to be served hence the buffet. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Alex. It definitely has a relaxed vibe so I think you're right. Feels weird seeing the splendour of the original station building and then having to walk 400m for the current almost hidden platform.
I've never been to Morecambe although I have been to Lancaster before and also Carnforth to go to the Booths supermarket. I've also been to the Booths supermarkets in Knutsford and Penrith.
Booths is great. When I was growing up we always went to the one on Woodlands Road in Lytham!
Hercule Poirot hotel! I thought I recognized it from the exterior, but it seemed a bit ... unkept... As soon as I saw the staircase I knew it was the one used for a few episodes. Wonderful!
It could do with a lick of paint on the outside to be sure. Must take a battering from the weather, though. Thanks for watching. 😀
The current Midland Hotel was built by the L.M.S. Railway to replace the original which was built by the Midland Railway; you said it the wrong way around in the vlog.
Ach! Good spot. Thanks. 😀
Nice hotel for a relaxing stay..... lovely views. Richard in Newcastle upon Tyne 😊
Thanks, Richard. 👍
Yes Roger, very art deco and half expected Poirot to appear! Midland very different, great interior, and that balcony/sea views. Pity about the weather. Yes, having a cooked to order breakfast definitely a bonus. Glasgow, imo, still the one to beat! Thanks for sharing. Nice one! 😊 👍
Cheers Alan! Now I'll have to go and watch the Poirot episodes!
What a great hotel. Shame about the weather. At the Orkney Hotel in Kirkwall they do the same, individually cooked breakfast.
Thanks. That's one to add to my bucket list.
Bus route is a far more direct route no surprise tram took longer
👍
Is it safe walk to hotel at night, that zone has night activities
It's a very busy part of town with lots of bars and restaurants, and I would say it's definitely safe. But as in all cities just be careful. 😀
It is a great pity why they did not use seats like those used in the Shinkansen Nozomi green car.
👍
I think you should have your own TV programme. Fantastic presentation 👍
Thanks. That’s very kind of you! ☺️ I do have a face for radio, I think. 😂
Great to follow along with this work. An excellent video, Roger.
Cheers Roland! 😀 Hope all is good with you!
@@RogEdwardsTV Good thank you. I was watching this video whilst my latest one was uploading to my channel.
NORTH BERWICK ALWAYS WORTH A VISIT.
For sure! 👌🏼
Another nice vlog on the Railway Hotel series Roger! I rode a Manchester Tram during my so-called "Manchester Project" and quite enjoyed the short ride over to Manchester Piccadilly!
Cheers Jett! The tram network is certainly impressive - compared to Edinburgh at least! 😂
I must say the inside of the Midland does not impress me much and that damp patch on the ceiling would be a no for me. That said it's an amazing city and one I'm lucky enough to call home.
Thanks for watching. I grew up in Blackpool and used to go to Manchester quite a bit but it’s years since I’ve been. I didn’t plan the trip well enough to make the most of everything that’s appeared in the intervening years. Definitely need to go back soon! 😀
Those storms usually have "female names", don't they? 😮
For a while they alternated male and female. So Storm Burt followed by Storm Jane. I think they are on a female run at the moment. I think they should call the Storm Cupcake or Storm Fluffy Kitten. Then the press would look like prats for their sensationalist headlines. 😂
Great update, Roger, on the harbour wall repair at North Berwick. Looking good. Must try and get back up to NB, soon. 😊 👍
Thanks Alan. I love visiting North Berwick!
High speed train train Those entrances above the station used to lead to music practicing/recording spaces when I lived in Dundee - they haven't been a part of the train station itself since before the previous rebuild that was replaced with the current rebuild.
Thanks so much for that! 😀
That must have been the one day of the year that North Berwick gets sunshine.
Summer you mean? 😭
The thing I found scary about walking the forth road bridge was that I was being battered by extremely high winds and somewhat heavy rain
Walked the Forth Bridge many times and I agree about the wind. Was also lucky to be chosen to walk the Queensferry crossing a couple of days b4 it opened to traffic. It was great.
@thatsme1268 that must have been epic!
I was fortunate it wasn’t windy the day I did it. It was scary enough with there being wind! 😵💫
Nice to see the wall coming back to normal... you've really documented this well Roger. Well done to the trust for using charitable funding obviously being used correctly and well done to the highly skilled workforce that is doing so well with rebuilding. Richard in Newcastle upon Tyne 😊
Cheers Richard! 😀
I stayed there twenty years ago, it was an absolute shithole, they must have spend millions on it since then…
…and the work continues it seems. Thanks for watching. 😀

They have that hopefully end of August for completion 👍
Maybe we can do another update on completion and have a chat then? Thanks, Scott! 🙏🏻
Won’t be a problem if you let me know he’s only going to be on site a few days a week as he’s mostly built the wall he’s just forming the cope stones now.
