- I made a wire bender using battledore bolt.
It's very easy to make.
I was able to bend a Φ4 mm stainless wire.

Important warning as a material engineer: Don't use the wires bended with bolts in applications where it will be under load since it might create cracks, scratches etc on surface which might lead to failure. Other than that, that is very cool and a very cheap method for bending for aesthetic purposes, nice one. A good and a future proof improvement would be adding small bearings to those bolts :)
☺☺👍👍☕
As an M.E. use common sense on what you define as a load... putting any bent wire under load might lead it to failure in the end, everything breaks eventually with the right force. bearings are a solid idea!

Excelente aporte por parte de JSK "Intelligent Hands" Koubou. Gracias por compartirlo. Saludos desde México.
U know when JSK is working on a big project because it splinters into several smaller projects for making tools needed for the bigger project.
Simple but highly effective, thank you for sharing
Excelente Saludos desde Argentina!!
This guy is fantastic!
Great job on making that wire bender! 👍👍😉😉
Damn..! Well done! :D
Congratulations. Good job
Nice work! Thank you for sharing the video with us!💖👌👍😎JP
Wow amazing ideas,,thanks

Hahaha... Dangit!
He's clearly demonstrated that he's a Master Wood Bender. Now he will show us his Wire Bending skills. Surely, he must be the Avitar!
Neat little bender. We featured this video in our homemade tools forum this week :)

Very nice design
This is genius
!
Three steel pins in a heavy timber and use the bar as the leaver and u get the same results steel fixers have been bending there re bar on site like this for donkeys years
Genius👍
Cool project and good luck

nice tool!
There are no words that can describe your innate talents. Thanks for sharing your talents with us kind Sir.
can I ask why you use araldite, in the screws when you are using lock nuts? , also you should do the hole countersink before you do the tapping
Very good!!!!
Cool!
JSK-koubou: posts video using their skills and knowledge to make an awesome tool.
My brain: What... The...HELL WITH THIS EVIL MAGIC AND WHERE DO I GET SOME!!?
nice work
Very nice, looks like tremendous hand strength isn't required.
☺☺👍👍 thnks for sharing,, good
Cool!!!
great idea
Nice work

Good tips bro !
LAST TIME OUR FRED WENT ON A BENDER , HE WAS WIRED FOR DAYS ,,
What did you smear on the metal to facilitate the drilling process ?
I think he used plan old grease.
I can't find "battle bolts" anywhere. Must it be a bolt? How 'bout 2 flat stock?
Japanese screwdrivers! I have some of the red ones!
This is great.!!
What are you using as a drilling lubricant? It looks like Petroleum Jelly.
looks like coconut oil to me
@@orbsphere- - definitely not an oil. More a paste.
I just Googled Machinist drilling paste and this turned up:
TTP HARD Drills "Cut-It" 17.6 Oz / 500Ml Cutting Paste Metal Cutting and Drilling Lubricant Drilling Paste.
Looks pretty close to what he used looks like.
ALWAYS SO CLEAN AND PRECISE AGAIN DO YOU SELL PLANS

Does anyone know what those are called in english? On the Amazon page that his link goes to, Google translates the product as a "feather plate bolt", but when I searched for that phrase on the US Amazon site it comes up with badminton sets. 🙄
It looks like it's a Japanese product for joining wooden beams of wooden houses. I doubt you will find it ouside of Japan. Maybe use a blowtorch at the end of a steel rod and whack it with a hammer a few times. Or weld steel plate on a steel rod.
The badminton set probably came up because they kind of look like mini rackets. I guess their Japanese name is something similar to that.
I guess that's lost in translation. I tried to find something similar on the German market. But no results. Also tried it with flat leaf bolt and turnbuckle bracing. But also a negative here. I'd say you don't need that exact product. Get yourself a thick strip of metal. Drill three holes in it, tap them, grind the other end of your strip to get some round edges and wrap some leather oder cloth around it. :)
You can use any decent steel flat bar. The longer, the more leverage you'll have. It's better to use a flat bar because you'll have a larger flat surface for bending rods and keeping it all in the same plane.
"Battledore bolt" and "feather plate bolt" seems to be the names, but I can't find a source for these outside of Japanese and Chinese companies. It might be something only really used in that region.
@@Aubreykun A battledore is the actual name for the badminton "racket." The birdie is, as everyone knows, the "shuttlecock."
Another good project I will never realize. I guess I could replace those bars with something else, but nothing I could easily find around. A pity
Those pieces are from a screen door brace kit. Your local hardware store probably has them on hand. If not, you can order from Amazon. Search for: Stanley National Hardware 5748-264 CD1739
I'm fairly certain that's what he used in this video.
Bob McBride Many thanks for your suggestion. Through I have admired many of the project by JSK, I think he misses to gìve the necessary information on techniques and materials to replicate them
Very nice. Just like a manual rebar Bender. 👍

would that tool work for bending thin-wall stainless steel pipe?
@gioyu comi - this translates as "It's very easy, but it's very convenient." which does not entirely make sense. is that a "yes"?
My guess is "no".
I've seen plumbers use a similar tool to bend copper pipes. They stuff a special spring down the pipe first to stop it from kinking. I've also seen someone filling a pipe with sand before bending. In both cases they are making the pipe solid before bending it.
Bending tubing is complicated as the walls tend to collapse especially at the bend leaving either total collapse or a severe restriction. To maintain constant diameter requires special techniques and can involve complicated machines, mandrills, etc. Some common get outs are filling the tube with molten lead- care needed. Or sand which is not quite as good. The plumbers spring works ok for small diameter copper tube but not seen other diameter of spring. You are stretching the material a long way on the outside of the bend and compressing it on the inside. Good luck
Was it vaseline? What's the black mix?
