Back in the mid 2000âs my brother and I got into nitro RC. He had the original savage and it was insane for the time. It handled runaways, temper tantrums from a teenager and just insane abuse. My only gripe was the engines were so finicky to tune. You just answered all our frustrations with the fuel tank. If only 13 year old me would have known.
I have a classic T-Maxx from 1999 and it is hands down nothing like a savage. Itâs smaller and fragile.
Love any videos from you kev ,tho where here for rcs!but your fun to watch and enjoyable to listen to! No such thing as boring when it comes to rcs there's always something to talk about or something to do! I aslo agree with the savage being one of the best I have the first gen and yet to replace anything but making it brushless!! Lol

After being in this hobby for 35 years, I can say that when I see the new models released, as they describe them, I am imagining the necessary upgrades and fixes. Like we see clearly where they are weak or need upgrading. The suggestion of future need of aftermarket and replacement parts is so obvious. I guess to the newb its SO AWESOME! but to me the purchase would be doubled at least.

It's easy to get stuck on a plan and then be a bit lost when it doesn't go right, I put stuff on hold because I wasn't sure if I'd have to move. Very hard to press on under those circumstances. I remember working at a few places that'd be perfect for you years ago out in the villages, converted barns and the like.
Mentioning the T-Maxx. I did a full Aluminum integy everything shelf queen build and ended up getting bored and doing a fair bit of bashing. Favorite Nitro I've had by far. I had several buggies and my friend had the savage. Opposite experience from what you said although mine was all aluminum and it would bend and I would just bend it back. Chassis had braces underneath and never once bent though. I would love to see you get one because you would love it.

The hyper ST Pro is by far the best basher i have had, i have a nitro one and a brushless converted one. They take a hell of a bashing

There's a mod you can do the savage tank to fix the tuning issue. If I remember right it was just adding a nipple on the inside of the lig with a piece of fuel tubing on it

New channel for racing only, I personally like watching those videos despite how boring you may think they are, gives a little unsure and fun into the âseriousâ side of the hobby.
The 3.3 Tqi circa 2017 t-maxx was the most reliable nitro truck I ever owned. Not as fast as the Savage xl but twice as tough and didn't require tuning every tank of fuel. I hated my xl, lol but I did have one of the originals then moved into lipos with the OG Flux. Really makes you sad when regardless of what nuts you use, it just ripped the center sections outta rims.
Hi Kevin love the videos! Maybe its been done already? but how come you havenât put rear wheels steering on the xmaxx? Is that a challenge I donât know. Be good to see maybe Traxxas will come out with an upgrade now they have made the arms wider.

I love the hpi savage. Got me one in 2004.
My only and first Rc trick was that same trucks hpi savage 4.6 nitro. I worked on it more than I drove it. It did take way more abuse than my fiends t max trucks. After two years I sold it after not getting to crank anymore. Wanting to go xmaxx now just waiting to afford one.

The only thing I don't like about the Savage tank is how it flops about. With mine Ive put some stick on foam to absorb the bumping about and protects the tank from damage.

I have an Hpi Trophy Buggy Flux that I bought 3 years ago and used once. I originally had an Overlander 14.8v, 6000ma, 40c, 4s Lipo that now is dud. What battery should I get ? 2 x 2s, 40c Lipo's or a 4s ? Will it take 2 x 3s ? What's the differences and what do you guys recommend?

My issue with rtr nitros is the starters. Once you have run a nitro motor with no starter and have a backplate they run and hold a tune 50 times better that pull starts or anything other than starter box. Facta
Perhaps The problem you were running into with the wheel nuts, is that they used imperial units. Maybe It is a 5/8"
