The only limitation of the time was his face, couldn’t be that expressive other than move his eyes. But playing the ghostbusters game on ps3 the first /second level is you fighting stay puff. And they really make him come to life he grimaced at the player, he smiles when he hits you, and when he’s about to fall off the building he looks worried. That game is the true 3rd sequel to ghostbusters, afterlife can be the 4th and its sequel the 5th.
It really was kinda life or death in this scene and if you saw this for the first time, you weren't quite certain that they would survive. You don't get that level of tension from the other movies.

I always wondered why the dogs did absolutely nothing the last 5 minutes they were on screen. As the busters were shooting at Gozer in Slavitza Jovan form, they did nothing. As Stay Puft was climbing the building, they did nothing. As the busters crossed the streams, they did nothing. At least in Afterlife they were a BIT more active but still....that's just lazyness by Vince & Zuul

Even though they survive I got to give them props on willing to sacrifice themselves to save the city. The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man as the destroyer of all mankind is still one of the greatest jokes ever.
You can see the rigging coming off the back of the right leg (to our left) of the Mr. Stay Puft as he's walking down the street toward the building at 2:44.
2:47 fun fact: that fire hydrant that burst with water is actually sand, during testing the water wasn’t spraying out right it was kinda misting and going up too high, so they hooked up a sandblaster to it and it looks perfect.
I'm just now noticing this, but at 4:57 if you look closely at the boys and their streams, it looks like they're trying to pull their streams away, but they aren't. It's a ball of energy forming, and when they do pill away, you'll notice a bright ball of energy shoot towards the gate and as soon as it hit, it exploded.
I noticed that as well, that's really when they cross the streams... that ball forming and being released is what caused the explosion. Also it seems that 'crossing the streams' actually only occurs...when the streams are crossed all the way to the tip of the proton guns not when the two beams cross period. If that was the case, it would have gone kablooie when Peter and Ray crossed their beams.
If Gozer also returns for Ghostbusters: Afterlife, let's just hope it won't ever have to come to that. And by that, I mean crossing the streams again, to be more precise.

Actually, the Ghostbusters defeated Gozer the second time of Ghostbusters: The Video Game when it manifested as the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man again, so Gozer's defeat of the 2021 film would really be the third time, to be more accurate.
