Suit up for classic comedy! Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis) and Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) take a chance on going freelance, de-haunting houses in a new ghost removal service. As soon as they open their doors, their first order of business becomes saving beautiful cellist Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver) and nerdy Louis Tully (Rick Moranis), who’ve inadvertently opened the gates of hell… right in their own apartment building!

I think most actors--given the nerd stereotype in the early 80s, would've played Louis like how we see most of those characters of the era. Rick Moranis gave him more of a lovable than annoying quality
John Candy was originally supposed to play this character, it was nothing like the way Rick Moranis played it.
Rick played it so much different than what they expected they tried to talk him out of playing it like that. Rick convinced them he knew what he was doing.
I love the character.
@@vinyllpreviews9462 Yeah, I know. John Candy wanted to play the character really eccentric with a German accent & a bunch of german shepards. Though I love John Candy, that would've made the character of Louis more of a caricature & taken away from the overall grounded feel of the movie. Louis is a nerd, but Rick doesn't play him as the over-the-top nerdy stereotype of the time, that's all I was saying with that comment

@@derekllewellyn6663 Uh, yeah I guess so.
No one talks about Louis's pure self confidence and how comfortable he is with himself and I think we should
The best line: "I'm going to bring this up at the next tenant meeting. We aren't suppose to have pets in the building."
agreed! never mind its not a pet but supernatural beast that’s a ghost…Moranis is a 80s legend
Ha ha lol while he’s running away, my husband started laughing so hard when I heard him say that. Very creative actor. Lol nerd expert.
I love how his way of introducing guests at the party is to begin spilling all of their personal financial information to a crowd of strangers lmao!!!
Comedic genius writing and acting.
From what I understand, Rick Moranis improvised most of it.
@@ForceMaximus84 He told Reitman how he wanted to portray Louis, and Reitman told him to go with it. Moranis was absolutely hysterical in this.
@@Surfer041 Breach of fiduciary duty.
@@ForceMaximus84 actually all of it was improvised the whole party part was improvised everything he said was improvised and ad-libbed
I still love the moment when a restaurant full of people see a man screaming for help then just go back to eating when he stops.
New York City, the apathy capital of the world
Not that weird. Happens every day when I serve people exactly what they asked for and claim it isn’t.
I never understood that. The way it was filmed I always thought they couldn't see the Zuul dog and that's why they went back to their business.
Just showing typical New York elletists.
It's about class devide posh snobs could never dare help a filthy commoner
I love how the key master (possessed Louis) is just straight up vibing and chilling on earth just walk-in around and being curious about everything as they wait for the sign
i think he was trying to find the gatekeeper
@@Jermain-cz4bh that too

I liked when he showed ride eyes at that horse carriage guy and then kicks over that homeless woman's bag. LOL
5:11 “Dropping off or picking up?”
This is one of the funniest and most under-the-radar quotes from the entire movie.
my lord how many incidents before youre that familiar with the local law enforcement.
@@blessfullstop hahah exactly. Its like she’s bored to see them because they get called out so often 😂
I don't think he's human 😂
Yeah…I’m more interested in the picking up…who were the ghostbusters holding onto for the cops to pick up regularly?
@@BookshelfQBattler well i expect her remark is for the ghostbusters themselves considering all the incidents, epa injunctions, damage to properties, speeding, carrying unlicensed nuclear accelerators with them.. i mean they get arrested in each movie 😅
IMO, Rick Moranis is probably the only actor in the world who could steal scenes (unintentionally) from Bill Murray. I love Bill, but Louis Tully was the best character in this movie, for me.
I truly believe it's impossible not to love Rick Moranis.
"What an assh*le " Gets me every time 🤣🤣
Best scene in the film
Must be a verified Spaceball
@@j.cgallagher7092 "Some moron brought a cougar to a party and it went berserk."
“You will perish in flame!”
"Alright, who brought the dog?" This line cracks me up every time for the past 37 years😂😂😂
Vinz is probably the most childish demon in all film history! He can't stop touching everything in Egon's office.
Vinz Clortho also made Louis more nerdy as well.
He is a demi-god of the 6000 A.C.
Probably is only curious 🤔
I always wondered why he seemed less aggressive than zuul.
I’ve read it somewhere, that Vinz was intentionally supposed to be a bit of an idiot.
@@justinstearns9723 and easily distracted it would seem, his first course of action upon being unleashed in Afterlife was to go get a snack down at the local Wal-Mart
"Gozer the Traveller, he will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldronaii, the Traveller came as a large and moving Torb! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the Meketrex Supplicants they chose a new form for him... that of a Giant Sloar! Many Shubs and Zulls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Sloar that day I can tell you."
I always visualised a sloar as a hellish living hurricane of fire... Weird to think of it as a creature.
The best part is that whole line was ad-libbed.
Lolol
Awesome..i might make a t-shirt with this description ❤
See? Not Ray’s fault. Vinz spilled the beans early that Gozer depended on everyone picking a destructor form. Egon should have put Ray to work on some mental blackout exercises early
Rick Moranis is a comic genius.
7:55 This moment is epic. Even when possessed by by Zuul and Vinz, the underlying personality traits of Dana and Louis persist. Dana's dominance flows uninhibited, while Louis's awkwardness is still very evident. A very good bit of exposition that they were unwilling pawns in a game of the gods.
That wasn't the case in Ghostbusters afterlife ..Vinz and Zuul had full control
@@fashizzle78 I dunno I feel like Paul Rudd still showed some of the awkwardness Vinz has in Rick’s portrayal. In the scene where he meets up with Zuul he straight up uses a “I like your eyes, they’re pretty” pick up line
This is extraordinary funny, if you take it scene by scene. I about pissed myself when Egon says to Louis," We'd like to get sample of your brain tissue." And Louis is like, "OK". I never caught that stuff as a child. Tremendous writing. I was s little kid when this movie was made.
Same lmao. “Who does your taxes?”
Louis was always the 5th Ghostbuster to me, he was the guy who had a bad event happened, yet stuck by the guys who believed in him and did them a solid in the end
3:06
I love how the grandma just nopes the fuck out of the hallway
Rick Moranis is a national treasure, dammit!
When the demon dog busted out of louis bedroom HE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO HAD THE BEST REACTION!!! GOT THE FUCK OUT OF THERE!!! Closed the door behind him too
Louis Tully, the official fifth Ghostbusters... :-D
I love when egon asks him for a sample of his brain tissue Louis just says "okay"
I like to imagine that Vinz Clortho is thinking to himself 'damn, this human sounds like such a NERD.'
5:53-5:54 I've watched this movie so many times. And for this scene I always focused on Louis wearing the funny scientific helmet. But this is the first time I noticed that the screen behind Louis shows an image of the beast that attacked him in the first place. Which prompts Egon to ask him, "What did you say your name was?"
G R O W E L
“Okay who brought the dog?”
G R O W E L!
That part was priceless😂
jesus stop motion creatures in the 80s movies always freaked me out man. im so glad cgi replaced that lol
@@MsDudette21 what are you talking about, stop motion / animatronic creatures were the best it made them look more realistic where as cgi is cheap and just makes everything look fake and cheesy which is why movies aren't as good as they were back then which is why the new generation doesn't know and willl never know what good cinema really is. Sorry I went too far off the subject but I really had to get that off my chest.
@@alexbarron7856 calm down dude. It's my opinion. I find it creepy cuz of how they moved. Cgi looks more realistic. In its infancy it didn't cuz it was still new. But now it's great. Imagine superhero movies without. They'd suck cuz you wouldn't be able to make their powers look decent without Cgi. Pretty sure that's the reason batman snd superman were the few live action ones in the past. Superman was basic and batman had no powers!
@@MsDudette21 I'm not saying all movies shouldn't have CGI in them but there are way too many. It's like the movie industry is just relying on CGI to please their audience frankly it's just lazy and no it does not look realistic. For example like the Jurassic Park movies when the dinosaurs were moving around really fast or running yes they would use CGI for those specific moments but when you saw them up close or attacking a someone usually they would use an animatronic to make it more realistic but in the new movies it's all CGI. you barely see any animatronics or real designs that have nothing to do with a computer these days.
Although Murray is known as a great improviser, apparently Moranis wrote or ad-libbed all his dialog. He's still so nerdy when he tells about Gozer the Traveller. I'd love to go back to Hellraiser and have Pinhead say all his lines like Vince Klortho.
“Nice doggy! Cute little pooch! Maybe I have a milk bone!” My absolute favorite!!!
Turning up his tv as well….what a sweetheart. I could see him doing this in real life too as he’s so lovely.
I hope he returns in the next movie even though he is mostly retired. Even a quick cameo would be OK. I was happy when he voice acted for The Goldbergs' Spaceballs episode!
Yeah
Nah,Sadly he didn’t. :(
@@manicdosed Boo. Not even voice acting? :(
He's done with movies even if his return brings world peace he won't return.
What! He did? Why didn't I know about this?
This has to be the longest take in the movie. How Rick managed that is Amazing. What great Acting Skills.
That little old lady who was startled after entering the hallway cracks me up!
Wow he’s literally me
I love how this movie blends, sci-fi, supernatural, horror, and comedy altogether. Ghostbusters is truly a classic.
This has almost all my favorite scenes. Never really realized Louis was in so many of them!
'We'd like to get a sample of your brain tissue." , "Okay."
0:05 Louis: okay who bought the dog
Louis is, for all of his ‘geekiness’, quite a stylish guy . . .
"Okay who brought the dog?" gets quoted everyday for my friend group
I am about to deep dive Moranis’ body of work, revisiting this and realizing how good he is, maybe starting with Strange Brew which I haven’t seen in years. Hope you’re feeling better champ, after that random attack in Manhattan about a year ago.
If you can find it- he had a children's cartoon in the 80s. "Rick Moranis' Gravedale High". A lot of comedians had cartoons back in the day (camp candy, etc). It's a fun little romp of 80s nostalgia with the usual after school special life lessons.
Just in case you really wanna dive deep and come out on the toon side. 😅
"You will perish in flames!" Running off through a bag ladys stuff
The first time I watched Ghostbusters when I was a kid back then. These terror dogs scared me a lot.
I can relate
My taxes, steps and legal needs are MORE than ready to reminisce and laugh nonstop with our dedicated and speed talking champion accountant. Stay safe everyone!
The way Janine says dropping off or picking up it's like the police have came knocking on her door before.
When he's outside the restaurant and runs into the chair it looks like it really hurt!
Oof, yeah. Never really registered that before. Ah, youth.
Honestly Rick Moranis is probably one of the best actors when it comes to movies like these, hard to not like him and the roles he plays.
“yes, have some” 😂
I'd make fun of this clip for practically being every Louis Tully scene but he was so uniformally excellent that it's still accurate.
the "Ok, who brought the dog?" always gets me. 😂
He was the only thing missing in Afterlife
Slimer?
I was really hoping he would have come out of retirement for Ghostbusters afterlife. Rick is still so loved and there was no other actor who could have played Louis he brings him to life.
Never realized it back then but the party scene is one of the best scenes of the movie!! Rick is a genius!!
Brilliantly written and acted, everything was brilliant! I’m so happy I had films like these in my youth, beats the sterile contrived shit of today.
Truer words were never spoken.
I've always preferred the older movies, too.
The key master
The gate keeper
I see the innuendo
Took me a while to get it too.
Janine: Do you want coffee Mr Tully
Louis: Do I !?
Egon: Yes have some.
Louis: yes have some!
I’d love to have Louis as a neighbor
He's the best "nice guy gone phsycho" ever!!
One of the best elements of both films was Moranis. He was superb. ⭐
Louis Tully is Wayne Szalinski from Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.
Rick was awesome at physical comedy
is it just me or does rick moranis and michael cera give off the same energy??
Rick Moranis had a wonderful career playing nerdy guys. Little Shop of Horrors, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, not to mention the Ghostbuster movies.
Don’t forget Spaceballs.
Who else thinks if Vinz wasn't all evil he would be fun to hang out with?
It’s amazing how much they fit into this movie and none of it got short shrift
The Keymaster is almost as silly as Louis Tully himself!
“Does anyone wanna play Parcheesi?”
🤣😆🤣😆🤣
Key master of Gozer...
Constantly gets locked out of his own apartment...
“Who does your taxes?” 😂😂😂
I really hope Rick will make an appearance one day in Ghostbusters sequels. He was so funny.
6:17 That demon dog is freaky when he says that. Kind of hilarious. LOL
8:49 Close, Ray. It was actually in 1908. But I LOVE how this was incorporated into the new movie
I’d like to believe Vinz used the other elevator to go down after Louis. 😄
Louis: "Ok, you brought the dog"
Peter Venkman: "I didn't"
Dana Barrett: "Me Either"
Ray Stantz: "It wasn't me it's Mr. Stay Puff"
Winston Zeddemore: "Oh no"
Egon Spengler: "How the evil dog got here with?"
Gozer: "Because I did"
Rick Moranis is a genuis !
2:09 i love
i love ghostbusters. keep posting good content
Which is not this. Lol
8:16 omg I just noticed the shadow of a camera guy.
Those evil dogs used to scare the shet out of me as kid .
"felt greaAt!"😂
I just hope this did indeed get brought up at the next tenants meeting. Pets running loose in the building; we just can’t have that!
Iirs funny how he leaves his guests back at his place while the terror dog is causing rampage lol.
"You will perish and flee!!!"...
.as he trrips over the boxes......
If he’s f ing called the 🔑 master, why is it he keeps getting locked outta his own apartment. Put the damn room 🔑 in your pocket, Lewis. 😆?
That's a good catch, never thought about it before.

That's the joke
Does anybody else find it HILARIOUS that when Ted and Annette Fleming walk into Louis' party that he violates their confidentiality by casually telling EVERYONE their financial dirt??? LOL.

Ok..."
The 2 best quotes he says “Ok who brought the dog and I didn’t”t know you had your licence

“ I gotta bring this up at the next tenants meeting. There aren’t supposed to be pets in the building “
Louis is sniffing a popcorn jar as well as a slice of pizza.
Monsters inc 0:06 sully roar
I've always wondered why, of all the men in the world, Vinz chose Louis as his Keymaster host.
For the challenge.
Egon said it had something to with Louis living on the corner of the building.
You know, John Candy almost got his role. Hard for me to picture that.
Rick was meant for this 😃
It was John Candy who actually recommended Rick Moranis for the role. I KNOW I read that somewhere.
Debbie Gibson is the girl that turns around and looks at Rick Moranis around 4mins. She was about 13-14 here. The movie came out in 1984. She got her music record deal in 1986. She is uncredited.
6:30 what a difficult line to memorize!
Going to have shower is still a crack up
The guy was hilarious. 😂
I read that this guy left hollywood to take care of and spend more time with his children as a full time father, after his wife passed away from cancer.. Good man..
Louis rubbing the popcorn and rubbing the pizza on his cheeks is the best of him😂😂
"Who does your taxe" shows Louis is a good guy who will repay his debts
I turned up my TV really loud too, so that everyone would think that both our TV's had something wrong with 'em.
Yes have some
