One of the most brilliant bands ever, short and sweet career, left a wonderful legacy of truth, feminism and thoughtfulness... I am sadly happy they ended too soon, yet i would have hated to hear them dilute their power over a longer period of time, sadly' even the great ones weaken over time... Wow, i am getting old, lol.... Anyway... ENJOY
The slits? B-52s? Devo? Echo and the bunny men? Marine girls? Dolly mixture? Orange juice? Joseph k? Altered images? So, so many Public image? The waitresses? I could go on and on...
The Au Pairs were exceptional.Lesley Woods had such a presence. Gang of Four, Kleenex, Raincoats, Mo-dettes were also great...The only bands that mattered, no, there was so much exceptional music.
Here we go again. The best period of music and they were there. Pinkpop is one of the best festivals of the world. (glastonbury 1) the reason that I am a Dutchman.
+E Zandman Ja, en ik was daarbij en het was goed. Na het optreden nam Lesley Woods een duik in het zwembad met haar kleren aan en liep vervolgens door het publiek en vlak langs mij. Yes, and I was there and it was good. After the gig Lesley Woods took a dip in the pool with her clothes on and then walked through the crowd and right past me.
E Zandman ik heb ze in datzelfde jaar gezien in rotterdam bij de euromast in het park...heb alles van ze op vinyl en cd...ik was 17 toen ....met een paar punkers mee naar de au pairs
Wow! I never knew about this event. This band rocked! It's all so ultra-hip. Who knew about this in the US? Who knew about this anywhere else? They were THE shit!
THANK YOU! I've been looking for any footage of the Au Pairs at Pinkpop '82 for what seems like forever. Was lucky enough to be there, and this was the best set of the entire show. I've loved this band ever since. Wish they would have continued.
Two high tone lead guitars doesn't really work but I also read that sometime they often didn't get much time to arrange a song, let alone hit a studio because of their intense concert schedules. They really needed some time off. In the end they got burned out and eventually broke up.
@uploader The second song is "Dear John" not "We Are So Cool", lol. Tnx for uploading anyway, there is so little video of Au Pairs on youtube. It's a crime as they were one of the best bands ever.
Another band that slipped through the cracks, I understand why they did not last, in the music industry they called bands like this fad bands they were not meant to last, just bring in quick money.
Playing with a different sex is one of best post punk albums made. Love the way it was recorded
I'm sitting somewhere in the back (red shirt). still miss them all. still play their records too.

"Headache for Michelle" for me, one of the best song ever...
How did I grow up in the 80’s and not run into this band until yesterday?!?! Shades of Gang of Four.
Gang of Four, Au Pairs, Kleenex, Delta 5, The Beat, Mekons, Raincoats, Mo-Dettes = ONLY BANDS THAT MATTERED

like all true originals the au pairs did not last long but God could they have made hamburger out of today's boring wonders [kings of leon, say?]
ONE OF THE BEST MUSIC GROUPS OF ALL TIME!
This was a good year! Mink Deville was great too. Great memories. At the end of the day we all were in our underwear because of the heat.
Awesome concert! Always love her voice.

Great band. Too short a span.
