Shopify makes it easy for you to edit your theme's code, but what happens when you need to upgrade to a new version? Upgrading your theme might not be so easy if you've made significant code changes. Let's review what you need to do.

i have a paid theme but very old version how can I update that to current version which is paid and i cant publish or edit code before buying it first?
You can upgrade the theme from the Theme Editor in Shopify. You should see a drop down menu under the name of the active theme (where it shows you the current version.) There should be a link there to the new upgrade. Depending on the theme, you may be charged, but hopefully the upgrades are free. Make sure it copies the new files first. Don't upgrade over your live theme.
@@sunriseintegration let me explain again, i think you didnt get me. I uploaded my theme through zip file which has version of 2 something so now i cant update it from my theme store and when i try to add the same theme from theme repository it says of buy before publish so I cant see anything for updation? the current version is 7 something.
@@user-yt2il9yy6k Sounds like the theme provider doesn't have the connection to your theme (since you uploaded via ZIP) and this won't handle the upgrade. You may need to go back to them and sort it out. The upgrade will require some customization anyway if you made any code changes.
