This mechanic with the 'can-do attitude' deserves a medal and a raise. Didn't parts and labor cost more than double the trucks value? What a lucky truck.
that truck is probably 15-20k, its worth a 5-7k job
Came here from the scotty kilmer video mentioning Toyota's free frame replacements for northern vehicles. Cool stuff
Hi. Does this apply for a 2004 model Tundra truck?
Less than 8 mins is wild. I watched the sun travel across the wall in 8 mins
What an incredible job by this Toyota master technician! Can’t wait to have my 4Runner frame replaced this year.
Can you share where you are having the work done and how much you were quoted for it?
Same, I don’t know if I should let my 4Runner go or frame swap it.
Also interested in this! Took my 4runner in to replace suspension and the mechanic said, no thanks, your frame is too rusted.

After seeing this I feel nothing is impossible in the car world in terms of building/rebuilding
Damn that’s a ton of work. Nicely done and very interesting. Nice soundtrack as well.
I am grateful for having watched this video. Thanks for sharing. I hope to have the funds to have my car frame replaced. Special 1 of 600 I don’t think I can let it die
Thats friggin awesome dude
you guys are epic, I buy parts there all The time
I commend you! That main mechanic guy.
Took a few days.. were the bolts rusted? Someone worked on a Saturday!! I like to do a frame swap in 3 days by myself. It's like a guaranteed position at the dealership after that. Nice work. "Hire a professional, pay him a professional wage and get professional results" ~Technician
Can you send me your information?
My tundra is going and I can't finance a new truck but I may have enough for a frame replacement. Ive tried oiling the frame but its not as viable as i was told. I can rent a vehicle from family but as for the tundra, what are my main options?
Nothing crazy here. I can get the frame ready for lifting off in less than 8hrs in a shop.
Cool video!
Getting this done at Toyota of Des Moines in a couple months, my 02 Tundra is gonna love a new frame 👍🏻
How much did they quote ?that shit looks expensive
@@gavinblack7154 completely free because my truck has an open safety recall and whatever the qualifications were, my truck met them
I thought the recall only lasted 15 years? I have an 02 sequoia.
@@zeropointstar nope if it has an open safety recall and Toyota corporate deems it eligible then it can be replaced

This vid was awesome slowed it down for a better view of the action,, very nice
I got this done last year but for some reason my frame looks like it was just covered in grease is there anyway to confirm the recall was actually done to you knowledge? Great Video the drums had me in constant suspense!
if they dont replace it they just spray it
I have an 07 sequoia that needs a frame replacement, can I have it done still ? Dealer near me wants nothing to do with it
This is great how much would a frame cost with no rust for a 2002 forerunner? I am in Chicago thank you and how much does it cost to put on a new frame?
Gracias
I have a 2000 tundra with 90k body and interior like new still and my frame is gone !! I wish I could get mine done 😭
Anyone know if a 2004 tundra truck chassis frame is still under the coverage for warranty recalls?
the frame recall toyota tacoma 2002 3.4 crew cab is still available
Is there a recall on 1997 land cruiser frames? I’ll drop mine off this weekend if so 😂

I need a frame replacement for my 2006 4runner. V6 4x4 limited trim.. help me please
Me interesa saber cuanto cuesta ese trabajo ?? me gustaria para mi auto
Would it still be possible to have my frame replaced on my 2000 toyota tundra if it has been undercoated by toyota previously. The dealership it was brought to failed to clean the frame before applying the coating, now I have a 3 inch hole in my frame.
Please call our service department at 781-237-2970 so that we can confirm whether your Tundra is eligible for the frame replacement. Please have your VIN number available. Thanks.
I'm wondering the same thing for my '07 Sequoia. My dealer undercoated it 2.5 years ago. However, the undercoating is flaking off with the rust that was underneath it. I'm concerned about the long-term safety of the vehicle.
@@khakhananglastname745 I called my local dealers and they basically told me I was S-O-L. Now I have a truck that I can't drive and I need a ride for school. I can't afford a $3000 frame repair job either.
@@khakhananglastname745 Since this is a possible safety issue, I'd recommend that you bring your Sequoia in so we can determine the cause of the rust. We will certainly check to see if your car is eligible for the frame replacement. Please call our service department at 781-237-2970.

How much does this cost to have a frame redone powered coat n sand blasted
Wow that was a cool video. I wonder how much it would cost someone to get that done?

How many hours does Toyota call for
hey, so I purchased an 03 Toyota Sequoia limited back in October of 2019, so not the original buyer, do I have to be for my Sequoia to be eligible? I recently noticed rusty flakes of my internal frame and some outer more so internal, also the bolts to my tow hitch are rusted too, bad. a couple of them broke off when removing due to rust. While removing the broken bolt, the square nut welded to the frame, broke loose. How do I know if my rust issue is bad enough for a frame replacement. Also I was told it was inspected in 2014 and didn't need replacing. Now they want $130 for a second inspection. Help! Lol thanks for any info
Angel...please give our service department a call at 781-237-2970 with your VIN # and we will check to see if your Sequoia is eligible. You don't have to be the original owner to have a recall done. Thanks.
How much would it cost?
what about the Frame VIN Number, is legal to change frames?
Yes it's legal. Frames don't even have VINs, but rather serial numbers. That being said, most other parts of a car like fenders, windows, etc. have VINs on them and it's completely normal to replace them if damaged. A new frame from Toyota likely coms with no numbers on it.
How much that cost any ideas?
How did Tacoma's and Sequoia's get covered for new frames but 4Runners didn't?
I would suggest that you contact the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 800-331-4331 for more information on this issue.
DId you do this? What did Toyota say?
@@kf3en - They said there is no plan to replace 4Runner frames.
@@mjv1967 It is a shame. Mine is a Texas car, but I had 8 years in Pittsburgh for the salt to do its work. Being a Florida boy, I had no idea about the kind of corrosion that can happen. It is clear that the frame is substandard material, relative to the other metal in the same area. I have big chunks of metal floating around inside the frame. It is going to get massive amounts of corroseal and chain lube inside the frame to see if I can stop it. So far, only a couple of small holes on the frame bottoms. Nothing that looks like structural failure, but that is not far off if I do nothing.
@@WellesleyToyotaScion I have a 07 fj cruser. Frame is shot have you heard of any recall anytime soon on these. Thanks!

My wife's 2005 4runner is on the drive way for 6 months. Toyota dealership rendered it unusable because the frame is rusted beyond repair, only 90,000 miles on it. Toyota does not want to have anything to do with it. Bought a Mazda CX9 for my wife, no more toyotas.
I just had my 2009 Toyota Tacoma frame replaced. When I got it back the A.C didn’t work. Had no issues with the A.C prior. Tried to recharge the lines and that didn’t work. I take it back to the dealer and they run a diagnostic on it and tell me my compressor is bad and they want $2100 to replace it. I’ve found this is a common occurrence just wondering if there’s anything else I can do?
Hi... I’m in the process of getting this done. How much did it cost you?
@@RiskitAllontheFelt it was a factory recall on the the frame. Under warranty, no cost.
Had the same issue with my 04 Tacoma after frame replacement. Compressor bad. Not sure how that could be related to the frame replacement.

What would that cost?I have a 2008 toyota 4runner that has so much rust and rot on the undercarriage .I put in a claim at Toyota buy they won't fix issue>
I’m on the same boat, still making payments on mine tho. Not sure what to do 🤷🏽♂️
Add me to the party as I have a 2005 with rot everywhere. I brought it to the Auto Rust Technicians in Rhode Island and they quoted me 8900 to fix it all. Called Toyota as well and they could care less. Guess I have to give up on the 4th gen dream
@@cmugsy3597 Yeah I bought 4Runner for the bullet proof reliability and Toyota wouldn’t stand behind there products.Tacoma’s have the same rusting issues but Toyota will fix the frames.Because of the class action lawsuit.
I just got one and got totally burned on it. looks great until you slide under the back. It’s so rotted that the mounts that hold the back axle are broken off. The axle is just hanging on by the suspension and driveshaft. I know I should’ve inspected more but it’s my first car and I had no idea there was rust issues with these I never would’ve thought it could be this bad on a car from 2004. I’m not even driving it because it’s so bad fml.
Only 94k miles too I’m gonna take the guy to small claims court for endangering my life. The only reason I noticed it was because a brake line started leaking. I could’ve died driving this thing. Thank god I saw it before me or someone else was injured.
I have a 2005 Tacoma SR5 and the frame is crumbling to bits. How much does a job like this cost?
Hi, Dale. Replacing a frame on your '05 Tacoma would be in the 20k range. If you can contact me at feedback@wellesleytoyota.com and provide me with your Tacoma's VIN then we can check to see if there's any coverage available. Not promising, but worth a check. Thanks.

Who’s playing the drums?
The customer whose car this belongs to was the one who set up the time lapse camera. He then added the drum track and gave us a copy of the file. We don't know where the drum track came from. Sorry we couldn't be more helpful.
Whats the price to get this service done, if paying out of pocket?

10k with todays truck prices im doesn’t seem bad for a vehicle that is mechanically trusted to be reliable.

Awesome video !! …. I was wondering if you could offer me any advice, I have a 2010 tacoma trd sport 4x4 6 cylinder with very low mileage (only 67,000 miles ), I’m the original owner . I just got it back from a big reputable dealership where they replaced the frame , they had it for three months and supplied me with a rental for the entire time, I’m really happy with the job, My issue however is my engine doesn’t look like it did prior to bringing it in ( to my best recollection ) , I’m not positive but I think they may have swapped my engine with someone else’s by mistake ( is that even possible ) , it could be all just in my mind but I don’t remember the motor being all pitted and rusty , I did crawl under and I got the serial number off the casing it’s 1GR followed by seven digits ( all of which don’t come close to my vehicle vin number )… do you know if these numbers are supposed to match ( maybe the last four digits ) or if there’s any way I could tell if the motor was swapped with another, I love this truck and planned on keeping it another decade or two but now I’m wondering if I’m driving around with a much higher miles motor in it . I tried four wheel drive and it took a long time for it to come out and when it did and I put it in drive it made a loud banging noise ( it never did that before ) I would appreciate any advice you could give me , my stomach is in knots,.. thank you !
@Misirac altudamecekas thank you
I'm not from the US, but isn't the engine number written on the vehicle registration certificate? If it is, you could just cross check that with the engine number stamped on your vehicle. It looks like you already located your engine number.
@@johnmellyn2700 any update on this situation?
What was the cost of the frame replacement ?
paid by toyota no cost to the customer around 15k to replace
The real question is why
That thing is old send to scrap
Ok, do my wife next.
frame was good. trucks were geting the swap just because of recall. but they shouldnt have warrented this on all the vehicles. a proper inspection would have saved alot of time and money for the company. more then half the vehicles didnt need it. i work by a toyota dealer and theres a pile of frames over the years (hundreds) i saw and there in near perfect shape that are goin to be trashed
Divorce at 1:30
geez. was the vehicle worth that?
Yes the body engine and transmission lasts forever on those if maintained but the frames do not last. There was a recall on the frames so they got it replaced for nothing
uhmmm... they ran so fast...
Insanity...but good work
what's the point to do this, so much labor charge, why not buy a new car?
What is your point in showing this if you aren’t replacing frames anymore?
