Enjoying your videos Chris. I’ve commented before. I’ll be in the Philippines for three weeks checking it out in December. I think a lot of men in the US are in the same boat. One question I have, it seems all the CZcams videos of vloggers and cities the cities look so empty. Nobody walking on the sidewalks. Is that just the time of day you filmed this video? I see it in almost every CZcams video in the Philippines, like the cities are just dead.
@MikePedersen what's up Mike? Actually the rhythm of life in these countries is slow, people take their time and enjoy life to the fullest. I moved to Morocco from the US years ago and now I take a nap after lunch and stay up late watching nice programs or reading a book. I traveled everywhere in Morocco and learned the language. People are welcoming and the food is great. Take the leap of faith and do what you have to do, life is too damn short to be wasted on bullsh!t.
I've been visiting the Philippines for over 8 years. I have now been living here for 1 year. I prefer not to live in a big city. I live in the province, Naval, Biliran Rovince. The town is just over 70K people, and I live it here. I married a filipino 8 years ago in the US. Like you, I was tired of the hate and constant politics in the US. I feel a lot safer here than I ever did in the US. People are very friendly and accepting. My spouse has a large extended family, and I love them dearly. They protect me from foods I'm allergic to and worry when I leave the house alone. I can walk to town and the gym at 5:00 in the morning without a care. People now recognize me and the family I'm attached to. Keep going brother, this is my heaven and home now. Peace out.

I own a beautiful house in Miami that’s paid off and believe me a house doesn’t make you happy. Your exact words are my exact thoughts. I tried medellin for a few years and realized it’s not for me anymore. I decided to come back to Miami rent my house for 3k a month and head to the Philippines for a few years and see if I like it. After watching videos on CZcams I realized that the Philippines could be the perfect spot for me. 1st because they speak English 2nd because I’m 50 years old in great shape and deserve a fair chance at a decent relationship for the 2nd part of my life. Considering a divorce in America literally destroyed my life. The courts in America are made to rip family’s apart. Good luck man you made the right decision
You can say that again! The courts are by far so unfair to the man and let the evil witch women take all that than men have worked for just to give it to the women I have seen this many many times that it's happening my family right now. There is so much unfair this country which is one of the many many reasons why I want to leave also. Like immigration how you can just walk across the boarder and pay absolutely nothing and then the Government gives thim everything free un like my fiance and I have paid a lot of money that after two years she still not here when she does will still pay for years more more money and do a whole lot of one more paperwork and then some. So so unfair to us to do it legally and the right way!!
Without doubt, Filipinos are the most fantastically friendly people I have ever witnessed. The only country as a man in his mid-60s would feel confident and comfortable to visit on my own. You won't feel alone, there is just something that is positive and uplifting about the place, and most certainly the people .
The Philippines is not really a good country for young people to live in. If you are older and you have money and want to retire, yeah, by all means come live in the Philippines. Otherwise, follow all the nurses and go live/work in another country

@@alvinsmith3894 If you can bring in an American income to the Philippines, you are as good as gold regardless of age. Something as little as 3 or 4k USD a month and you're sitting pretty here. I said what I said earlier referring to young people here. They make very little and cannot realistically live on their own. Many have to work abroad in order to support their young families here.
Some really good universities here too. There's a vlogger out of Duma, World Zoom. He did a video on the schools here. Some really good options here at next to no cost. Good luck there and thanks for watching.

We are grateful that you have made my nation your second home. Yes, your assertion that my country lacks perfection is accurate, but we can still offer a small slice of paradise, and we can proudly invite foreign guests to experience the generosity and friendliness of our people.
You're more likely to find trouble with drunk washed up retired military vets in Phils than you are a local. Of course there are dangers, especially in Manila, but for the most part locals are very friendly and welcoming. And almost everyone can speak English, which is a massive bonus.
Remember this, when people enter your home and you receive them with open arms, they should be the one grateful instead of you feeling like you're lacking. Be accomodating but not to the point they become your master. You're the master in your own home. They're just guests even if they're your friends. Remember that.
If you want a little laid back and pure joy, Philippines has it. Its imperfections are what makes it beautiful andmakes one appreciate life a little better. It's like being back to basic..back to being human and back to humanity

We were just there in the country for about 3 weeks. Went to BGC, Boracay, Bohol, and Pasay. I really fell in love with Bohol though. I've always thought about moving there in the past. But now I'm really convinced of moving there, after our vacation. Same as a few of the reasons why you moved there. The hate here in the U.S. is just out of control. The mass shootings too. It has become hell on earth.

I work as a VA for a realtor ni California, it always astounds me when people purchases houses in millions.. when here in our country you can buy a decent house/apartment/townhome/condo in less than what they pay for. My heart goes out to all the homeless--the people who are working two or three jobs to make ends meet. That's why I never thought of going there in the US even if I have been given the opportunity. What's with the mass shooting and racism there. Urgh.. America should stand up. 😢

Some income options are real estate, stocks, business, writing, working remotely, teaching, consulting, social security and spousal support $2000 x 3 and $1500 x 4 I have made 1.5 mil from foreign employers working off and on over 25 years, 7 or 8 months a year.
A few tips: • White cotton shirts. - You'll need them if you plan on walking around in the midday summer sun. Humidity on average rarely dips below 80%, and the heat's almost always above 95F. Flip-flops are good too. • Road "rules" are often just mere suggestions. - Take extra care when you're driving around, especially in a motorcycle. There still _are_ a few annoying things about the Philippines (like politics), but foreigners for the most part won't really be affected by these things. Chris has pretty much nailed all the basics when it comes to living in the PH for an extended period of time.

I'm with you. I feel like there is challenges in the Philippines and the US. However, the challenges in the Philippines are more annoyances. In the US the challenges are deeply problematic.

The hate and daily violence is 100% the reason I left. The Filipino people are so welcoming. The only time I encounter any issues resembling hate or racism is when I encounter other foreigners. It is so nice, laid back, inexpensive. Nice to see you're in Cebu. I am moving there next week.

Maybe your wife is just thinking of the income for your family. As you said, you are a Filipino. You can try to invest in SMEs in the Philippines, or you can get into real estate and use your citizenship to take advantage of the growing industry. The Philippines is fast developing, and soon many of the real estate prices here will triple, making it a good time to buy a property.
Cris Amen to your assessment about America, Im from the Philippines moved here on the 80s, its not the same anymore.. cancel culture, race biting, political turmoil its so bad I hardly recognized this country I fell in love and became financially stable, but its even scary to even say a word that can "offend anyone". Stay there you will have peace, enjoy our culture, tradition, nature and most of all the people, stay safe but be careful who you trust.

Many filipinos love to live in America for number of years for economic reasons. Once they saved money, they will go back and buy property in the Philippines and continue their dreams in the near future. Filipinos doesn't like to live forever in America or in other parts of the world once they retired or saved a littlem money. If they are old, they wanted to reconnect their loveones. They go back to the US for medical reason or their pension because US has advance in medicine. Also US dollars have more purchasing power than Philippine peso that is why foreigners would love and live comfortably in the Philippines.
@@WayniKlaru14344 I work in the medical profession in the US. Unless you’re insured, you can get bankrupted with a single emergency in the US lol. The doctors don’t have more than 5 minutes to spend with you, unless you’re filthy rich. Even if you have insurance but if you live in the rural areas, access to good medical attention in 2-3 hours away. Make an appointment, you won’t be scheduled within a few days, you must wait for weeks. The US healthcare system needs a huge reinvention, it’s for corporations, not for ordinary people like us.
@@ray.b.75 this is very unfortunate. I feel sad that kind basic need is somewhat unreachable. It's not as if there's no hospital services, but people there kinda deprived of it? Filipino here btw. In the municipality where I live right now there's a government funded hospital offers a lot of free medical services. I actually experienced it first hand. I got my molar extracted and just paid a minimal amount. In the initial check up there's an inflammation in my tooth and it's not salvageable, the dentist told me to take some meds to to get rid of the inflammation before extraction. Then gave me the prescription for it and told me to go to the hospital's pharmacy and show it. I was shocked because the meds were free. And I didn't pay anything for the check-up. When I return for the extraction, that's when I paid for the minimal amount.
I’m 37 overworked MENTALLY and physically in the US. This is my solid plan for next year. A lot of people think I’m crazy for wanting to live in the Philippines. I am considering Philippines, Poland, or Mexico.
@Carefree Chris I totally agree with you. We live in Northern Cal and would love to live somewhere else when we retire. But I'm a bit hesitant cause Philippines does not have a good medical insurance..or you end paying cash.

You may try Thailand and see if you like it there. With the Philippine's over 7,000 islands, chances are you haven't even gone to Cebu's 150 islets and islands which host to marvelous natural wonders like hundreds of waterfalls, mountain peaks, springs, beaches, etc. You may try all the more than 200 countries and find out which of them gives you total happiness and contentment. Without a doubt, you are hard to please. With the bewildering array of what you can see and do in the Philippines and saying you get bored already, something must be wrong with your expectations or goal in life.
Welcome to the Philippines, our country maybe not the best in terms of economic but if you want to disconnect from the harsh world, you are on the right spot. We have a lot of hidden paradise you can unwind, and atleast no-one knows you, you can live at peace and relax all the way.

The most brilliant statement of the year so far “you can’t fix it with more of it.” I sooooo agree with you on that and it rings even more true because I literally just returned from the Philippines and am now back in Los Angeles. The first thing I saw after my wife and I got off the airplane was a high speed chase involving eight police cars chasing someone. I get home and we hear the helicopter circling around because there was some kind of shooting nearby. In the Philippines, we enjoyed waking up to the sound of the ocean mixed in with a rooster or two sounding off their wake up call or maybe we hear some goats in the distance. I could swear these goats are always yelling the name “Clair!” All the time 😂😂 The Philippines like anywhere else in the world has its own set of issues but I never feel unsafe when walking around. I highly recommend the Philippines to everyone but don’t go looking for love, per se, look for LIFE! Research, travel around the Philippines and really see if it fits. All the things you said in this video Chris is so on point and its kind of the conversation I had with myself while on this recent trip to the Philippines. I totally agree with you 100% I’m leaving California to live in the Philippines. I purchased 4 townhomes and 3 lots on the ocean in Cebu for the price of 1 property in California. It’s a no brainer!
Moving to the Philippines wasn't easy, I grew up here but hardly had any friends, basically start from scratch but the best thing I ever did, no more chest pains and migraines, the low cost of living is definitely helpful and I no longer feel rushed plus having a maid is awesome.
You won't be able to work here. They protect their jobs for the citizens. You wouldn't want to anyway as you wouldn't get paid much. Your best bet is to find something online, make better wages, and live here with a low cost of living.
I lived up and down the Mexican Rivera, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, Puerto Penasco. Loved Mexico, but I needed to learn Spanish, you can get by, but it was frustrating not being able to communicate. I'm in Makati Philippines, dollar arbitrage, everybody either speaks English or at least understands it. But I've been around Filipinos since I was 18 in the US Navy. I think about going back, but it ain't bad here😂
I spent a lot of time in PI and it seems that many other Gen X are looking to move there. My wife and I are seriously considering it with our family. I'm so tired of the attitude and culture at home that I spent a lot of time fighting to defend. A common mistake people make when going to other countries, is they forget they are the outsiders and that they are the visitors. Show respect and you will be respected. You start some, you will definitely get some.
it’s true what you said Chris about the hate culture here in America. I don’t have kids but have nieces that still go to school and i always pray for their safety. Every time we go out on weekends, like eat in restaurants i am always alert for potential trouble from some crazy person randomly shooting at people.

Tips for foreigners as Filipino Filipinos are happy people and they value the importance of shame or being ashamed to do something bad or something that can make others feel bad, they are not used to people who shows irritability and anger in public. They also don’t like to be embarrassed in front of a lot of people. They are very sensitive. Once you are talking to the Filipinos and you get angry with them, you have to hold your temper and talk or show your anger to them in private. They can understand if you will be angry because they committed mistakes and it will be easy for them to accept and adjust, just don’t embarrass them in front of other people because most of them will never forget that even when they get old Filipinos is so negative, sensitive and emotional😅

Filipinos hate losing face in public. never yell or embarrass them as they are silent killers. My son is leaving Canada for a lot of the same reasons. I've seen my country deteriorate since the 60s, and you are right, it will NOT improve. It breaks my heart that I got to enjoy the freedoms that he's been denied especially these last three years. There still are countries where family is central and women know how to take care of their men, the way my parents were.
I live in Vancouver and it's beyond expensive, just the maintenance fees and the property taxes on a condo or townhome is more than I would pay for rent in the PH. Let's not even talk about the mortgage price. I work weekends as a property manager and we're renting out a 2 bedroom 1.5 bath for $2,900. Vancouver is a very progressive city so there's tons of drugs and homeless people and they're being pandered to. Everywhere you go there has to be a rainbow sticker in the business window and a rainbow crosswalk at every elementary school where they're pushing transgender everything LGBTQ, and critical race theory (CRT). No one is even racist and no one is against the rainbow collation and the alphabet people so I can't understand why the have to push it so hard. If you're not a vegan, gluten free, ultra liberal, do yoga, meditate, save the old growth forests, believe in man-made climate change, and are not fully vaxxed forget about it, dating would be (or is) impossible. I'm trying to figure out why I haven't left for the Philippines yet.
We often refer to our parents relationships as the way it used to be. Most of them lifers, and so common to hear "they've been together 50, maybe 60 years. And it is all based on traditional relationships and family. In the West... how many people in there 40's today are still with the same spouse - most are already on to a second marriage and I think that speaks volumes as to where the current mentality in the West is headed... or maybe better put, has come to a head.
May 5th will be 10 years for me. Moved out here at 45 and will never go back to the UK. I look back at my old country and while I miss certain things the pluses here just far outweigh what is going on in the West. Another often not spoken thing about here is respect for old people. I live in the burbs in Santa Rosa, Laguna. Never been a big city man but living somewhere central where you can get to Manila easily was my pick.
I'm currently in the UK. My wife is from Dasmarinas area. Need reliable Internet due to my work if we move to Philippines, and would prefer province areas compared to Manila. Any advice regarding Internet having lived in Santa Rosa? Cheers.
@@silversurfer6758 I live in Santa Rosa and Internet is stable and quick. Around 30 USD per month for an unlimited 100 Mbps. Pay a little bit more and your speed goes up to 300 Mbps and even 1 Gbps if you need one.

I don't lock my doors when I am home and often I leave without locking them... Yeah seriously I live a few miles outside of town on a small river... surrounded by woods and a few homes.... we have less then 10 of us that live back here so... privacy and peace I have.. here.. Safety is extremely important.. i feel for those that do not feel safe.
Like everywhere else in this planet, there are good and bad people. In Ph, there are more good than the bad but still, never let your guard down. Just be cautious. I think you're adjusting to the "crossing the streets of Manila (if you're here) or in any crowded cities in Ph is a matter of momentum" ~ quoted from Anthony Bourdain when he was in Manila. I liked you video Chris.... even though I'm 10-15 years away from retirement, I've been considering move to another country. I'm really tired of crime on big cities, the high prices of things, needless to say the western women that have lost traditional values. I think I'll move to Florida for tax purposes, but will spend most of my time in the Philippines for the gentle people and possibly a new companionship.

I lived there back in 2017-2018 and felt really relaxed and comfortable around the people. I really felt at home when I was there and I want to come back for good!! Everything you said is so accurate! Because Filipinos are very social, they tend forming a group (could be a circle of friends, community, or even family) which protects every member of the group and they help and watch each other. The bottom line is that Filipino's are relatively more sensitive compared to other nation. If somebodies in trouble and needs serious help, people help. On the other hand, if somebody is behaving arrogantly and crossing the line, Filipinos around will make you popular and mark you where everybody hates you and cannot go inside any circle of protection. Once you are unpopular in the community, trouble seems to find you and put you in danger soon. If you yell, raise your voice just because you complain too much about normal things in the Philippines, you will get in trouble easily and get embarrassed so badly you wish you never visited the country. In short, Filipino's are good friends but bad enemies.
Somehow that is true.It just boils down to be being respectful, and I think that must be applied wherever you are.We Filipinos knows how it feels being deprived of liberty or of something that we taught are our rights specially during our colonial periods with Spain and unfortunately the USA.Though that is just part of our horrifying past but it lives on to each one of us.So as much as possible we dont like to ashame or discriminate people or even make them feel embarrass.. because we know how it feels.We've been there.

Keep the passion man. It's good to recognize why getting out of the US is a good idea. I went through a divorce and it wasn't as bad as most. I'm completely free from that now thank God. I worked for 15 years in software development and just got caught up in a layoff. I'm looking at the Philippines. I would like to explore it first and then figure out where to live.
Absolutely. Really smart. I suggest starting in Cebu CityI like most have suggested. It may not be where you live permanently but it’s really a great place to come and adapt and then while you’re here you can do trips out to find out where you want to be permanently. Loved your video ‘Chris’. First time watching your channel, and so impressed I subscribed immediately to show my support. That GPS camera gizmo you used is so much better than just holding the camera pointed at your face, as it give a much better view of your surroundings. Anyway, I think you really hit the nail on the head with the hate culture. It’s sad that evil forces have taken over this country and are intentionally promoting this type of divisive and hateful culture. Even though I live in a relatively safe part of the country, I still am filled with fear and anxiety and carry a pistol for protection. Thirdly, you’re absolutely on point about how the US has become nowadays as I’ve seen several mass shooting news and tons of police brutality videos almost everyday. I have friends living there now and they told me the US is nowhere near from what it used to be. Looking for trouble is what gets you in trouble here in PH. Chris, thank you very much for this video. I agree with the points you made wholeheartedly. My wife and I decided to get away from all the noise in the US. We enjoy our quiet life here. The people have been absolutely wonderful, respectful, and loving. Just like you, we've looked at many places that we could live. We looked in Europe, Central / South America that potentially were warmly receptive to expats. But, after years of searching, we found our home in Southeast asia. I would never live in the US again. Unfortunately, I have to back for a conference and some business matters that need my personal intervention. I don't look forward to living with the current destructive and hateful culture that permeates the US. But, we will only be there for a little bit. Then we will back here for some peace and quite. Good for you! I’m a retired nurse , born in Manila and have been living outside of Pittsburgh, PA for 48 years. I wish my husband and I could go back and live in the Philippines, but both of us need proper health care due to our physical and medical health (it’s more convenient here because we have great specialists and hospitals within 25 miles radius) . You are very right about the state of our nation, there’s too much hate, many killings and violence. It scare me to think sometimes that I might encounter hate crime because I’m Filipino. I’m very thankful though that the town that I live (old steel town) in is small and most of the residents are related in one way or another, most of them are good people too. Good luck !

Dude, I got to tell you that I am feeling the same way. There are so many things about the US that has drastically changed in the last 5-10 years and its not for the better. I'm looking to sell everything and head to Asia. Probably do some travelling in Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam or who knows where... then maybe pick some place to park.
I would say places around Tagaytay City like Alfonso, Amadeo, Silang, Indang, they have cooler weather specially at night if you are concerned about the temperature and humidity, less crime, quiet and peaceful. People in these towns are still very conservative or traditional. You'll still feel the province life. It's only 10-15 min drive to Tagaytay City which is a major tourist attarction and yet the prices of rent, and the overall cost of living in these areas are way cheaper. With all the roads and highway infrastructure being built now, once completed you'll only be less than 2 hours away from MOA, BGC, Makati City. Sometimes living in an Island province can be very boring to some after being in an Island for too long unless you are loner type of person. The advantage of living in a province just outside of Metro-Manila is the access to world class medical facilities like St Lukes hospital, Makati Medical, etc. and major Universities (La Salle, Ateneo, UP, etc) something that is lacking in the province and critical for those who have major health issue. Also, Metro-Manila is a melting pot of different culture, filipino (Tagalog, Visayan, Ilongo, etc.) and foreign culture, very diverse and lots of nightlife. It is also rich in history. You don't need to live in Metro-Manila to experience all the City has to offer. Metro-Manila is the place if you really want to enjoy the remaining years of your life.
I'm in Cebu City. I choose here as it's not quite as busy as Manila. I'm here for the first year anyway and still looking at other options. Thanks for watching
Very nice. I recently purchased a 240 sq.mtrs. lot in Amadeo for a steal, just some 10-15 minutes away from Tagaytay City. Will start building the house next month. I find Amadeo to be colder than Tagaytay, esp December-February. And the town had its own unique charm. Coffee plantations seems to be big there and Amadeo coffee is quite good.

It's refreshing to see a practical use case for the X3 that's similar to mine. Tiny Planet, Timeshift, Bullet Time and other fancy-schmancy AI-generated edits via the phone app are overdone and getting old for me. Anyway, CBP is also my choice to stay in (at least initially anyway) once I get there hopefully very soon. In fact, I already created a different channel solely dedicated to the new adventure or chapter of my existence as it has nothing to do with this current one and will debut with my departure from Cali. Have a good time on Boracay; I'm actually envious so I'm just gonna have to live vicariously through you for now 😁. It's traditional for many Cebuanos to hit the beaches during holy week. In fact, Bantayan Island was one of the prime destinations way back then and I'm sure it's no different nowadays.

One question I have, it seems all the CZcams videos of vloggers and cities the cities look so empty. Nobody walking on the sidewalks. Is that just the time of day you filmed this video? I see it in almost every CZcams video in the Philippines, like the cities are just dead.

I moved to Morocco from the US years ago and now I take a nap after lunch and stay up late watching nice programs or reading a book. I traveled everywhere in Morocco and learned the language. People are welcoming and the food is great. Take the leap of faith and do what you have to do, life is too damn short to be wasted on bullsh!t.
I've been visiting the Philippines for over 8 years. I have now been living here for 1 year. I prefer not to live in a big city. I live in the province, Naval, Biliran Rovince. The town is just over 70K people, and I live it here. I married a filipino 8 years ago in the US. Like you, I was tired of the hate and constant politics in the US. I feel a lot safer here than I ever did in the US. People are very friendly and accepting. My spouse has a large extended family, and I love them dearly. They protect me from foods I'm allergic to and worry when I leave the house alone. I can walk to town and the gym at 5:00 in the morning without a care. People now recognize me and the family I'm attached to. Keep going brother, this is my heaven and home now. Peace out.

I own a beautiful house in Miami that’s paid off and believe me a house doesn’t make you happy. Your exact words are my exact thoughts. I tried medellin for a few years and realized it’s not for me anymore. I decided to come back to Miami rent my house for 3k a month and head to the Philippines for a few years and see if I like it. After watching videos on CZcams I realized that the Philippines could be the perfect spot for me. 1st because they speak English 2nd because I’m 50 years old in great shape and deserve a fair chance at a decent relationship for the 2nd part of my life. Considering a divorce in America literally destroyed my life. The courts in America are made to rip family’s apart. Good luck man you made the right decision

You're more likely to find trouble with drunk washed up retired military vets in Phils than you are a local. Of course there are dangers, especially in Manila, but for the most part locals are very friendly and welcoming. And almost everyone can speak English, which is a massive bonus.
Remember this, when people enter your home and you receive them with open arms, they should be the one grateful instead of you feeling like you're lacking. Be accomodating but not to the point they become your master. You're the master in your own home. They're just guests even if they're your friends. Remember that.
If you want a little laid back and pure joy, Philippines has it. Its imperfections are what makes it beautiful andmakes one appreciate life a little better. It's like being back to basic..back to being human and back to humanity

We were just there in the country for about 3 weeks. Went to BGC, Boracay, Bohol, and Pasay. I really fell in love with Bohol though. I've always thought about moving there in the past. But now I'm really convinced of moving there, after our vacation. Same as a few of the reasons why you moved there. The hate here in the U.S. is just out of control. The mass shootings too. It has become hell on earth.

I work as a VA for a realtor ni California, it always astounds me when people purchases houses in millions.. when here in our country you can buy a decent house/apartment/townhome/condo in less than what they pay for. My heart goes out to all the homeless--the people who are working two or three jobs to make ends meet. That's why I never thought of going there in the US even if I have been given the opportunity. What's with the mass shooting and racism there. Urgh.. America should stand up. 😢

Expat since Feb 1988 Make $2000 from 3 sources and u can live very well on $2000 especially if your houses and cars are paid for Many get buy with a cheap motorbike; under $2500. Some income options are real estate, stocks, business, writing, working remotely, teaching, consulting, social security and spousal support $2000 x 3 and $1500 x 4 I have made 1.5 mil from foreign employers working off and on over 25 years, 7 or 8 months a year.
Just be careful of your spending here.. and be careful choosing a partner. Sir.
A few tips:
• White cotton shirts. - You'll need them if you plan on walking around in the midday summer sun. Humidity on average rarely dips below 80%, and the heat's almost always above 95F. Flip-flops are good too.
• Road "rules" are often just mere suggestions. - Take extra care when you're driving around, especially in a motorcycle.
There still _are_ a few annoying things about the Philippines (like politics), but foreigners for the most part won't really be affected by these things. Chris has pretty much nailed all the basics when it comes to living in the PH for an extended period of time.

Sorry to say...it's going to get a lot worse in the US. We left and can't see ever moving back. The quality of life is terrible.
Maybe your wife is just thinking of the income for your family. As you said, you are a Filipino. You can try to invest in SMEs in the Philippines, or you can get into real estate and use your citizenship to take advantage of the growing industry. The Philippines is fast developing, and soon many of the real estate prices here will triple, making it a good time to buy a property.
I think you have to determine what is keeping her from the idea of moving to the Philippines.
Cris Amen to your assessment about America, Im from the Philippines moved here on the 80s, its not the same anymore.. cancel culture, race biting, political turmoil its so bad I hardly recognized this country I fell in love and became financially stable, but its even scary to even say a word that can "offend anyone". Stay there you will have peace, enjoy our culture, tradition, nature and most of all the people, stay safe but be careful who you trust.

Many filipinos love to live in America for number of years for economic reasons. Once they saved money, they will go back and buy property in the Philippines and continue their dreams in the near future. Filipinos doesn't like to live forever in America or in other parts of the world once they retired or saved a littlem money. If they are old, they wanted to reconnect their loveones. They go back to the US for medical reason or their pension because US has advance in medicine. Also US dollars have more purchasing power than Philippine peso that is why foreigners would love and live comfortably in the Philippines.
@@WayniKlaru14344 I work in the medical profession in the US. Unless you’re insured, you can get bankrupted with a single emergency in the US lol. The doctors don’t have more than 5 minutes to spend with you, unless you’re filthy rich. Even if you have insurance but if you live in the rural areas, access to good medical attention in 2-3 hours away. Make an appointment, you won’t be scheduled within a few days, you must wait for weeks. The US healthcare system needs a huge reinvention, it’s for corporations, not for ordinary people like us.

@@ray.b.75 this is very unfortunate. I feel sad that kind basic need is somewhat unreachable. It's not as if there's no hospital services, but people there kinda deprived of it? Filipino here btw. In the municipality where I live right now there's a government funded hospital offers a lot of free medical services. I actually experienced it first hand. I got my molar extracted and just paid a minimal amount. In the initial check up there's an inflammation in my tooth and it's not salvageable, the dentist told me to take some meds to to get rid of the inflammation before extraction. Then gave me the prescription for it and told me to go to the hospital's pharmacy and show it. I was shocked because the meds were free. And I didn't pay anything for the check-up.
When I return for the extraction, that's when I paid for the minimal amount.
The people from Philippines are the friendliest I have ever met.
I’m 37 overworked MENTALLY and physically in the US. This is my solid plan for next year. A lot of people think I’m crazy for wanting to live in the Philippines. I am considering Philippines, Poland, or Mexico.

You may try Thailand and see if you like it there. With the Philippine's over 7,000 islands, chances are you haven't even gone to Cebu's 150 islets and islands which host to marvelous natural wonders like hundreds of waterfalls, mountain peaks, springs, beaches, etc. You may try all the more than 200 countries and find out which of them gives you total happiness and contentment. Without a doubt, you are hard to please. With the bewildering array of what you can see and do in the Philippines and saying you get bored already, something must be wrong with your expectations or goal in life.
Welcome to the Philippines, our country maybe not the best in terms of economic but if you want to disconnect from the harsh world, you are on the right spot. We have a lot of hidden paradise you can unwind, and atleast no-one knows you, you can live at peace and relax all the way.

The most brilliant statement of the year so far “you can’t fix it with more of it.” I sooooo agree with you on that and it rings even more true because I literally just returned from the Philippines and am now back in Los Angeles. The first thing I saw after my wife and I got off the airplane was a high speed chase involving eight police cars chasing someone. I get home and we hear the helicopter circling around because there was some kind of shooting nearby. In the Philippines, we enjoyed waking up to the sound of the ocean mixed in with a rooster or two sounding off their wake up call or maybe we hear some goats in the distance. I could swear these goats are always yelling the name “Clair!” All the time 😂😂 The Philippines like anywhere else in the world has its own set of issues but I never feel unsafe when walking around. I highly recommend the Philippines to everyone but don’t go looking for love, per se, look for LIFE! Research, travel around the Philippines and really see if it fits. All the things you said in this video Chris is so on point and its kind of the conversation I had with myself while on this recent trip to the Philippines. I totally agree with you 100% I’m leaving California to live in the Philippines. I purchased 4 townhomes and 3 lots on the ocean in Cebu for the price of 1 property in California. It’s a no brainer!

Moving to the Philippines wasn't easy, I grew up here but hardly had any friends, basically start from scratch but the best thing I ever did, no more chest pains and migraines, the low cost of living is definitely helpful and I no longer feel rushed plus having a maid is awesome.

You won't be able to work here. They protect their jobs for the citizens. You wouldn't want to anyway as you wouldn't get paid much. Your best bet is to find something online, make better wages, and live here with a low cost of living.
I lived up and down the Mexican Rivera, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, Puerto Penasco. Loved Mexico, but I needed to learn Spanish, you can get by, but it was frustrating not being able to communicate. I'm in Makati Philippines, dollar arbitrage, everybody either speaks English or at least understands it. But I've been around Filipinos since I was 18 in the US Navy. I think about going back, but it ain't bad here😂

I spent a lot of time in PI and it seems that many other Gen X are looking to move there. My wife and I are seriously considering it with our family. I'm so tired of the attitude and culture at home that I spent a lot of time fighting to defend. A common mistake people make when going to other countries, is they forget they are the outsiders and that they are the visitors. Show respect and you will be respected. You start some, you will definitely get some.

it’s true what you said Chris about the hate culture here in America. I don’t have kids but have nieces that still go to school and i always pray for their safety. Every time we go out on weekends, like eat in restaurants i am always alert for potential trouble from some crazy person randomly shooting at people.

Tips for foreigners as Filipino
Filipinos are happy people and they value the importance of shame or being ashamed to do something bad or something that can make others feel bad, they are not used to people who shows irritability and anger in public. They also don’t like to be embarrassed in front of a lot of people. They are very sensitive. Once you are talking to the Filipinos and you get angry with them, you have to hold your temper and talk or show your anger to them in private. They can understand if you will be angry because they committed mistakes and it will be easy for them to accept and adjust, just don’t embarrass them in front of other people because most of them will never forget that even when they get old Filipinos is so negative, sensitive and emotional😅

My son is leaving Canada for a lot of the same reasons. I've seen my country deteriorate since the 60s, and you are right, it will NOT improve. It breaks my heart that I got to enjoy the freedoms that he's been denied especially these last three years. There still are countries where family is central and women know how to take care of their men, the way my parents were.
I live in Vancouver and it's beyond expensive, just the maintenance fees and the property taxes on a condo or townhome is more than I would pay for rent in the PH. Let's not even talk about the mortgage price. I work weekends as a property manager and we're renting out a 2 bedroom 1.5 bath for $2,900. Vancouver is a very progressive city so there's tons of drugs and homeless people and they're being pandered to. Everywhere you go there has to be a rainbow sticker in the business window and a rainbow crosswalk at every elementary school where they're pushing transgender everything LGBTQ, and critical race theory (CRT). No one is even racist and no one is against the rainbow collation and the alphabet people so I can't understand why the have to push it so hard. If you're not a vegan, gluten free, ultra liberal, do yoga, meditate, save the old growth forests, believe in man-made climate change, and are not fully vaxxed forget about it, dating would be (or is) impossible. I'm trying to figure out why I haven't left for the Philippines yet.
We often refer to our parents relationships as the way it used to be. Most of them lifers, and so common to hear "they've been together 50, maybe 60 years. And it is all based on traditional relationships and family. In the West... how many people in there 40's today are still with the same spouse - most are already on to a second marriage and I think that speaks volumes as to where the current mentality in the West is headed... or maybe better put, has come to a head.

I look back at my old country and while I miss certain things the pluses here just far outweigh what is going on in the West. Another often not spoken thing about here is respect for old people. I live in the burbs in Santa Rosa, Laguna. Never been a big city man but living somewhere central where you can get to Manila easily was my pick.

Yeah seriously I live a few miles outside of town on a small river... surrounded by woods and a few homes.... we have less then 10 of us that live back here so... privacy and peace I have.. here.. I lived there back in 2017-2018 and felt really relaxed and comfortable around the people. I really felt at home when I was there and I want to come back for good!! Everything you said is so accurate! Because Filipinos are very social, they tend forming a group (could be a circle of friends, community, or even family) which protects every member of the group and they help and watch each other. The bottom line is that Filipino's are relatively more sensitive compared to other nation. If somebodies in trouble and needs serious help, people help. On the other hand, if somebody is behaving arrogantly and crossing the line, Filipinos around will make you popular and mark you where everybody hates you and cannot go inside any circle of protection. Once you are unpopular in the community, trouble seems to find you and put you in danger soon. If you yell, raise your voice just because you complain too much about normal things in the Philippines, you will get in trouble easily and get embarrassed so badly you wish you never visited the country. In short, Filipino's are good friends but bad enemies.

Keep the passion man. It's good to recognize why getting out of the US is a good idea. I went through a divorce and it wasn't as bad as most. I'm completely free from that now thank God. I worked for 15 years in software development and just got caught up in a layoff. I'm looking at the Philippines. I would like to explore it first and then figure out where to live.
Absolutely. Really smart. I suggest starting in Cebu CityI like most have suggested. It may not be where you live permanently but it’s really a great place to come and adapt and then while you’re here you can do trips out to find out where you want to be permanently. Anyway, I think you really hit the nail on the head with the hate culture. Even though I live in a relatively safe part of the country, I still am filled with fear and anxiety and carry a pistol for protection. Secondly, I’m so glad that you found your new home in our country specifically in Cebu City which is my home too for over 20 years now. I have friends living there now and they told me the US is nowhere near from what it used to be.

Chris, thank you very much for this video. I agree with the points you made wholeheartedly. My wife and I decided to get away from all the noise in the US. We enjoy our quiet life here. The people have been absolutely wonderful, respectful, and loving. Just like you, we've looked at many places that we could live. We looked in Europe, Central / South America that potentially were warmly receptive to expats. But, after years of searching, we found our home in Southeast asia. I would never live in the US again. Unfortunately, I have to back for a conference and some business matters that need my personal intervention. I don't look forward to living with the current destructive and hateful culture that permeates the US. But, we will only be there for a little bit. Then we will back here for some peace and quite. I suggest you try Dumaguete, lots of international expats live there for 1 week and then Cebu 1 week.

Good for you! I’m a retired nurse , born in Manila and have been living outside of Pittsburgh, PA for 48 years. I wish my husband and I could go back and live in the Philippines, but both of us need proper health care due to our physical and medical health (it’s more convenient here because we have great specialists and hospitals within 25 miles radius) . You are very right about the state of our nation, there’s too much hate, many killings and violence. It scare me to think sometimes that I might encounter hate crime because I’m Filipino. I’m very thankful though that the town that I live (old steel town) in is small and most of the residents are related in one way or another, most of them are good people too. Good luck !

Same reason I am trying to move out of U.S. too and looking into SE Asia. Deciding on Philippines or Thailand and checking which VISAs are more accommodating to expats from USA. Still have to grind out another 5+ years before taking the plunge and move out of hate culture.

Dude, I got to tell you that I am feeling the same way. There are so many things about the US that has drastically changed in the last 5-10 years and its not for the better. I'm looking to sell everything and head to Asia. Probably do some travelling in Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam or who knows where... then maybe pick some place to park.
You know some absolutely amazing destinations here full of incredible people. We only live once.
I would say places around Tagaytay City like Alfonso, Amadeo, Silang, Indang, they have cooler weather specially at night if you are concerned about the temperature and humidity, less crime, quiet and peaceful. People in these towns are still very conservative or traditional. You'll still feel the province life. It's only 10-15 min drive to Tagaytay City which is a major tourist attarction and yet the prices of rent, and the overall cost of living in these areas are way cheaper. With all the roads and highway infrastructure being built now, once completed you'll only be less than 2 hours away from MOA, BGC, Makati City. Sometimes living in an Island province can be very boring to some after being in an Island for too long unless you are loner type of person. The advantage of living in a province just outside of Metro-Manila is the access to world class medical facilities like St Lukes hospital, Makati Medical, etc. and major Universities (La Salle, Ateneo, UP, etc) something that is lacking in the province and critical for those who have major health issue. Also, Metro-Manila is a melting pot of different culture, filipino (Tagalog, Visayan, Ilongo, etc.) and foreign culture, very diverse and lots of nightlife. It is also rich in history. You don't need to live in Metro-Manila to experience all the City has to offer. Metro-Manila is the place if you really want to enjoy the remaining years of your life.
I'm in Cebu City. I choose here as it's not quite as busy as Manila. I'm here for the first year anyway and still looking at other options. Thanks for watching
Very nice. I recently purchased a 240 sq.mtrs. lot in Amadeo for a steal, just some 10-15 minutes away from Tagaytay City. Will start building the house next month. I find Amadeo to be colder than Tagaytay, esp December-February. And the town had its own unique charm. Coffee plantations seems to be big there and Amadeo coffee is quite good.

I am from Cebu but went to school in Denver at DU now in CA.
It's refreshing to see a practical use case for the X3 that's similar to mine. Tiny Planet, Timeshift, Bullet Time and other fancy-schmancy AI-generated edits via the phone app are overdone and getting old for me. Anyway, CBP is also my choice to stay in (at least initially anyway) once I get there hopefully very soon. In fact, I already created a different channel solely dedicated to the new adventure or chapter of my existence as it has nothing to do with this current one and will debut with my departure from Cali. Have a good time on Boracay; I'm actually envious so I'm just gonna have to live vicariously through you for now 😁. It's traditional for many Cebuanos to hit the beaches during holy week. In fact, Bantayan Island was one of the prime destinations way back then and I'm sure it's no different nowadays.
