He never said to ignore rape. Y'all need to chill. He said to not let the controversy surrounding the director keep you from seeing the film. Because it is an important film for black history. So I don't know if you guys understand basic English but him telling the audience to watch the movie isn't the same as defending rape. So have several seats.
TheDulcemorena That's exactly what he said. What is the controversy? That Nate Parker raped someone. He was saying ignore that to see the film. The definition of rape apologist is, "rape apology is an umbrella term for any arguments suggesting that rape is infrequent, misreported, over-reported, not that big a deal, or excusable in some circumstances."
You also have to realize that he is supporting a rapist through it all. You cannot separate the artist from the art. Nate Parker still gained money and fame from that movie when he was an open rapist in Hollywood and Chadwick only fueled to his fame. So you telling us to ignore the rape controversy is like sweeping it under the rug. It’s not right.
