I've edc neck-worn this wonderful folder for 6yrs now. The scales are NOT wood, they're a tough man made material that's held up well over the yrs. However, the simulated foe "wood" grain is different looking on each knife; so each one is unique. Mine is a richer burgundy red than the one in this video. I recommend taking the scale screws out & dab them with a little Loctite; I did this when mine was new & everything is still solid yrs later. The blade has no wiggle either, but I have never abused this knife to make it loose. ( The beast work is reserved for my trusty Mora Black, another great knife, btw). Ya, I love this North Fork. Everything from its rustic/modern visual design to its recurve blade, & especially, it's user-friendly slide lock mechanism! 👍I'd definitely buy it again. *It should be noted that it's made in Portland, Oregon & the Benchmade warranty is top notch.
I did not mind Sharpening however I ended up selling mine because the thumb studs kept catching on my jeans in the detent on this knife is very light. Ended up opening quite a bit before I even had it out of my pocket.
I've edc'd this knife for 6yrs Zack, get the WorkSharp or Benchmade field sharpener for this recurve. The round ceramic rods have maintained a nice edge on my North Fork. It's a great folder, btw.
My sincere condolences, Tony. What a tragic loss.......***I highly recommend removing the pocket clip on this high $ folder, it's a good way to loose it, clipping it to the inside of your pocket. I've neck-worn mine on a paracord string for yrs. It feels better in the hand, too, without that stupid clip.
I ordered it 2017 and sent it back 3 days later. The worst Benchmade knife I ever received. I am still sorry, because it looks great. But the quality was below every 50$ China knives.

Fantastic!!! Great knife!
I love everthing about this knife, except for the recurve blade. Sharpening it isn't easy.

@@markcoffman494 It's improved with stronger omega springs from Etsy.
