- I visited the WORLD'S LARGEST Aquarium Fish Market!!
◉ Chatuchack’s fish market primarily caters to Bangkok’s huge number of aquarium owners-many of whom are wealthy and willing to spend exorbitant sums on their prized aquatic pets. Much of the market is dedicated to pricey, status-symbol fish like the arowana, or dragon fish, which can cost upwards of $20,000 for a quality specimen. Other rarities include freshwater stingrays, gar, snakehead, flowerhorn and betta fish. The wholesale side of the market is only open on Wednesdays while the small shops/stalls behind are open daily.

Just really happy to get it out! 💙🐠 Make sure to have an open mind and be respectful in the comments section below! Thanks GEORGE OUT!!

you are one of the people that made me get a tank
Love the video
Thanks George for the effort you put in your videos trust me it shows .. you have great content
are you guys in Thailand? If so could you guys tell the import cost of getting these fish to Canada.
Oh, man. When they said "Pocket Change," I felt super broke. Hit me in the heart.
Me too😭😂
Me too
The feeling is mutual buddy 😭
question is ..2500$ is really a pocket change for most countries ?
abhishek jawharkar no! Unless you’re rich
The only thing I can think about while watching this is how much my dad would have loved this place. He was a salt water aquarium lover and had so many tanks in our house, my mom used to get so mad because he kept getting more and more tanks to grow coral in in our basement. I have so many memories of helping my dad with the tanks. This video makes me smile thinking of how much he would have loved to be there.
Your dad is a cool guy ♥️
@@daybot5720 he was. He absolutely loved salt water tanks. We had so many set ups to the point we needed those giant black feeding troughs you see at farms that are the size of a bath tub (I think we had the 700 gallon ones) at one point we had 3 of those plus one of his old tanks just to grow and cultivate the various salt water corals and other salt water plants (it’s been so long I don’t remember the proper terms anymore sorry) some of my greatest memories with my dad was the various science projects I did every year for school that we got to choose what we did and I always did something with the tanks/corals. My teachers and all the students used to love it because no one ever did anything like that and it was really fun to have my dad teach me everything about how to properly care for everything. He would show me how to do it and then would let me take it over from there (usually the projects were done over several weeks) he wanted me to do it for myself but of course still monitor me so I didn’t kill the coral lol.
We had built a room in our basement that my sister and I had lived in throughout the years (we switched every few years don’t know why) all the giant feeding trough tanks where just outside the door of the room my dad had built and one night I woke up and realized some of the tank lights were no longer get lit up when they should not have been off. So I of course jumped up to check what was up. And I stepped into the doorway I stepped in water and immediately could not move and was experiencing horrible pain because I was literally being electrocuted. I had stepped into water that was charged because not all the breakers tripped after something failed and the tanks flooded the basement (I don’t remember exactly what failed or what caused the water to spill over, I was still in middle school maybe high school) thankfully it wasn’t too bad because I wasn’t seriously hurt but my dad definitely got an earful from my paramedic mother who wasn’t happy that he daughter got electrocuted. It’s funny now but at the time it definitely was not funny. Those days with my dad are some of the best memories I have with my dad. I know if he and my mom were still alive they would still be bickering over the amount of tanks in the house and my dad would be teaching my nieces all about salt water tanks and corals and they would have those same expert that I did.
@@daybot5720 sorry for the super long comment lol
@@KatlynJShute Don’t be sorry! That’s awesome! So sorry to hear about how you got electrocuted, hope you’re okay!
@@minifinchy811 you are so sweet thank you. Yes I’m okay thankfully. Unless you count the fact that I randomly shooting electric strikes from my finger tips especially when I’m mad…oh wait that was X men. Never mind lol.
Okay but seriously, I’m okay. It happened more than 15 years ago (give or take a few years). I can laugh about it now, since I didn’t get seriously hurt (except for the giant full body Charlie horse sensation) I think it’s a fun story to share.
I grew up in Thailand and I LOVED Chatuchak market. In addition to Wednesday being fish day, other days are designated for other things. Thursday was plants day and my mom liked to go buy trees for 50 cents each haha the weekend was always the most fun experience too bc they have everything! I miss it :(
OMG I would not leave this place. THIS IS MY DISNEYLAND!
Thailand always welcome you
Samee!!
I go there every week. It’s paradise.
The fish were cool but MAN the plant selection! I could just walk around those shops for hours
the plant market there is pretty crazy too.

I’ve lived in Thailand for 5 years and I had no idea they had that many fish in that market. Thanks for the information!
I wouldn’t be able to contain my excitement there 😂
I'd be like a kid in a candy store!!!
Same
I live 30 minutes from there. Sadly I'm not a big fish hobbyist and I'm moving soon so that would be a pain 😂
I’m gonna go there tomorrow to prepare for a new female betta fish tank :D
Same that place is heaven
I just love how literally no one is toxic in this comment section 🙃
Well I guess I’ll be the first one they are abusing those animals in that shop.
@@Bibblesupremacy1992 you know how they are sold very quickly when it is the largest fish market in asia
@@Bibblesupremacy1992 you say that but what’s the difference between pet stores in the US then? Or big chain horrible corporate brands like Petco and Petsmart? Lol..
@@brooklynbound0 he's a typical western hypocrite
I hate how they keep some discus fish in bags that’s crazy like they literally need 10 gallons of a water for each one of them to be ok and not in a plastic bag that’s ridiculous plus that goes for any fish it can’t just be in a bag and try to sell them in do have planted thank so I I know what I’m saying and I also have angel altum and discus fish
Great video. Very beautiful fish and other aquarium utensils.
T
Oh my goodness that place is heavenly! Ive always loved walking around pet or aquatic shops the different kinds and colors of aquatic species always amazes me.
you just gotta love Bangkok. it's a city filled to the brim with anything that stimulates all your senses. it's a sensory experience overload, especially during Songkran
We're welcome 🙏
That was a CRAZY market. I wish we had something like this in the US. I would spend my paycheck every week 😅
Done hug hope u hug too..

Come to Indonesia please, very much cool stuff like this
How do you take things home with you if you go visit and buy anything though? I can imagine the red tape might be difficult.

CoralFish12G: shows 20 thousand dollar fish
Also CoralFish12g: I know you guys are wondering why they are so cheap...
...lol okay George
you see dat 75 cent crayfish??
Just go to any river and look under rocks you will find them so fast they are super common
@@connorglover5695 Cost more money in gas and time to drive to a river than 75 cents
@@8BitQuasar you have to drive to the fish store😂 and for me my local river is closer and I also don't live in Bangkok
@@connorglover5695 It is so hard to find crayfish of those colors in a river
I live in Thailand(Bangkok) and this is very accurate, it has gotten smaller during the pandemic but still worth buying and checking out fish!
Is it really open on wednesdays only?
@@ronaldtinsay The market open everyday, but the fish section only open on Wednesday.
Great job showing the market. I love this place. It was great meeting you today.

You are so much inspiring to me...I have been following you, learning from you since last April (no I'm not doing any April fool) and finally came up with an idea to open my own channel in my own language. Love from India big brother.
Finally, he posted! I was worried sick!
I went there once, I couldn't contain my happiness. So exciting
Love the videos! Super in depth!
Thank you for coming JJ fish market ,I just went there this morning.
I love how he said that the black mores had massive little eyes
The place you’re in was called Chatuchak in the fish market zone and then you can explore more zones there. They sell monkeys, snakes too Im from bangkok btw
Thats the unfortunate thing i reckon, Monkeys really shouldn't be considered pets :[ unless they are willing to put generations and generations and generations of domestication breeding into them (like they did with dogs) but even that being said, considering their intelligence, it's pretty cruel to have them caged up.
I live in BKK and didn't even know people are selling monkeys. I mean for the countryside maybe? But in the capital, that's new to me.
@@chukornthepsa6090 It might be different now... I was in Chatuchak when I was a kid (this was years and years ago). I remember being sad seeing the monkeys and puppies in cages... Don't even want to know where those were going :[
Wow I really want to go there! Looks amazing all the plants and fish look great!
this is so amazing... love it so much thank bro for made the video. love it
“Massive little goldfish with massive little eyes” made me laugh haha
Bettas, Guppies, Kois and Goldfishes will always be one of my top favorite fishes. My all time number fish is Betta Fish most definitely always. It’s an Asian thing that we like to keep more than other ethnicities. I freaking love the aquascape style always. So jealous of that market. I will go insane in there. I wouldn’t know how to tame my myself, because thing in that market is just so gorgeous from the fishes and plants. Wish in America and where I live America have a place like there, but they will sell more than you can afford.
Awesome video, Mate
Loved this video a lot ☺
This is one of those channels I never knew I needed/
Me in the whole video: looks at a random fish

@Steven Male it's an evolved albino bristle nose pleco 😁

🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have more than 100 Betta fish.I breed myself.😊 I'm form Thailand.เพิ่งเห็นชื่อคนไทยรึปล่าวคะ🤣
Beta fish are nice fish tho
As a thai person that has a lot of fish, the silver arowanas here are pretty cheap, and if you go to the front of the market there will be silver arowanas packed in bags and they are only 160-250 baht (around 4-8 dollars) so if any foreigners that visit thailand and has a collection of fish, chatuchak fish market if the place to go to if they want more cool fishes to put in their aquariums
Oh My God..!!! There are a lot of fish, they are really beautiful.
Wow I didn’t see one dead fish! That market really knows what they’re doing
No, they simply don’t allow them to float around dead like Petsmart or PetCo does. Countless fish/aquatic animals die on the way there as well as while in these over crowded tanks. They are simply good salesmen/marketers.
that makes sense, I didn't think about that...
@@KC-nh3mp they are open one day a week..so that makes it easy to maintain their cleanliness. I
They gotta put all the trash behind the scenes
3:30 were they purple or blue mini crays?
