- LIVE FISH FOUND Inside ABANDONED SHOPPING MALL!! - Exclusive Tour
◉ The New World Mall in Bangkok was closed in 1997, and a fire in 1999 left it without a roof. During the rainy season, the mall quickly flooded with water, which created a perfect environment for a mosquito outbreak in the area. To get rid of them, the locals came up with a great idea - to breed freshwater Catfish and Koi fish in the mall’s water so they could eat the insects. This resulted in one of the biggest natural aquariums in the world. Shops around the mall would even sell fish food to tourists.
UPDATE Recently the locals were ordered to remove all the fish due to fears that tourists flocking to see the spectacle would result in injury.

Ghost tower is pretty cool too! I’m a local here in bangkok 😁
Lots of fish in third world country
Fav explorer 😌❤️
plssss go
so they built a whole shopping mall without looking at the permits? I need that kind of confidence.
Thats actually very common to happen in countries like Thailand. The Government mostly doesn’t care and doesn’t stop them.
I grew up in this neighborhood. The original mall was built according to regulation, but the owners decided to add additional floors that the foundations did not support AND violated strict building regulations that are in place on Rattanakosin island, as the island is considered part of inner Bangkok and thus under the jurisdiction of the palace. The owners thought they could use their connections to secure the permission...they didn’t get the permission.
LOL
@@denseone hey this is so cool. I used to walk that mall a couple of time when i was a student at Thammasat. For me, it was not that "big", but enuf to keep one entertained you know what I mean. Then it was becoz of some permits issue and the building got closed. But that was a long long long time ago. Heard abt it once again becoz of the 'Fish" news. To be honest, I am surprised the building is still there.
Permits are not blueprints? Permits are just confirmations of building allowed being built.
Insane! I wish all malls had aquariums inside. I’d never leave.

The abandoned mall is very dangerous as it can collapse anytime, not to mention the scattered rusty and sharp objects. And it is definitely haunted😬
How accurate is ur statement? Feels like bs to me
Old and decrepit doesn't automatically mean 'haunted.' -_-
Well someone actually died there when the demolition of the 7 floors was in progress. And then 2 more people died there when the eighth floor collapsed.
I have searched what happened to this before and was sad to see the fish and water go. Now seeing it really gone is sadder but it is what it is. Thanks for the update!

I have a feeling it was raining heavily, and some people poured fish down there. That's a weird story.
thats literally what they said
It's normal when we get into an old-time building or place like that and feel it's scary. Noises can come from basic reasons such as rodents in the pipes, cats wandering around or wind blows. Of course, there's that abandoned condominium situated along the Chao Praya river since 2008. There was a foreigner actually got himself suicided on one of those floors. Anyway, the place can still be attractive to so many camera guys to get inside and find some good photo spots on the rooftop.

That could have been so cool. If the vendors could have moved inside to have small stalls, maybe even rentable rooms for over night stays with a super cool inside pond. Locally owned restaurants with street food or even small sit down meals. A bridge could have been built over the top of the pond with beautiful local plants around the side. Maybe some tables and benches for people to enjoy the fish. It found have a been a gorgeous attraction to bring people in and the local vendors could have seen a boom. Imagine it could have become a treasure for the people. I wish someone could have done this for them.
UGH!!! That place is super creepy!!! The poor fish that are left… how sad. Can’t imagine the bacteria in that place 😷 You’re brave… I wouldn’t step foot in there but good video 👍🏻
Spoiler alert: there are no fish in this video. I got catfished.
Oh okay
I wished I went to the comments before watching the video. Such a waste
Oof
😂
I thought it was a joke at first.....
Nice drone shots too!💜 Also the noises are probably because the place is falling apart slowly..I do believe in spirits, but I think it was just because the building is collapsing. That's probably the most dangerous thing is you never know what you're walking into. Glad you guys were safe and I just learned alot thankyou!

I love Thailand I went there in the year 2016 absolutely life changing and the people were so nice.
You should go back and try to net the fish and see what’s in there
yeah
Exactly
Most likely a couple of small tilapia, small catfish and small carp, they definitely would not leave any koifish or goldfish behind
Yea there’s lots of koi fish and goldfish in there just as mentioned in the video!
also FYI a koi is a type of carp just in case u didnt know so theres tones of carp and koi in there.
My aquarium with 5 fishes:
Methlab of chemicals to combat algae and nitrates
Abandoned mall with thousands of fishes: Stagnant dirty water.
im sure algae gets rid of nitrates or any plant. u need natural solutions to your natural problems. get a pleco for the algae and get plants for the nitrates.
amer alkhateeb do not get a pleco. They produce loads of waste and barely eat any algae
@@olivera6743 I got a small pleco for a big tank. And right now it never gets green class. Even the algae on the rocks isn't there anymore.
@@olivera6743 why would you use chemicals in your tank? Unless your using chemicals to treat clorine or something
amer alkhateeb when did I ever suggest using chemicals? Plecos are never effective at reducing algae levels, there bioload is just too high, no matter really the size. The waste they produce feeds further algal growth. Your tank most likely just cleared due to maturity not the fish. A more effective, yet still naturally solution to reduce nitrates it’s to simply plant more vegetation
This is a rlly cool place,, and i like the idea of actually having a giant indoor pond full of koi in a shopping mall :O
Wow, this is impressive eventhough I'm a Thai person, I've never seen this building

The inside of the mall reminds me of "The Last of Us".
omg yessss The Last Of Us Left Behind

Not only were there no fish, I recognize one of the clips of fish footage from a different CZcamsr's video. The clip at 4:08 is from Rachel O'Leary's video about an abandoned building that actually DOES have fish in the basement.

There’s a bunch of clips from other videos. You’re right
he never claimed it was his vid tho... he said it used to do therefor how would he have a video of from somewhere he's never been from years prior
He clearly stated there were no fish there and he was gutted about that.. Why the hell would you think any clips showing fish were his?
@@kaleb7105 you're trying so hard to defend him. He never claimed it was his clip but it's disrespectful to the owner of the clips not getting credit for their work
It's like I feel I'll see a walker any minute. So creepy. This would be perfect place to film an episode of walking dead.
Ur right, there are some water underneath the escalators and the exposed elevator shaft
Edit: also you mean open atrium
All the metal scraps making noise aside i fricking love these abandoned malls because of how creepy they are , i mean look at that flooded swimming pool inside, personally i have a fear of that :D
It's a common thing in South East Asia I guess, it's might be the only way for the spirits to interact with human since most of human can't see them
@@Joooo89 cool, id like to imagine a fish market spirit flooded the place with fishes, i mean whered the fish come from?
Oh and also what exactly do you mean by not most people can see spirits.
@@spinalicemightbeacat4589 The fish placed by people / government in order to control mosquito eggs
@@spinalicemightbeacat4589 Only few peoples can actually see those spirits: those who were born with 6th sense, and people who learn about spirits / metaphysic, using some kind of "ritual" or something like that
@@spinalicemightbeacat4589Well, the spirits are actually everywhere, but we just can't see them.. They can see us but not always can interact with us since we live in 2 separated world.
Some of the spirits are only minding their own business, some are naughty that they like to disturb human using scary sounds / voices, throwing things etc, some are actually bad.
Only stronger spirits and people with special ability that can break the border between the 2 world (to see spirits or interact). I heard that the spirits need alot of energy to cross the border, and also it's risky for them..
There are other ways to see ghost is by accident, for example if you're too tired or half awake and you're "sensitive" to metaphysical world, you might be able to see some spirits. Or if you go to abandoned place where their energy is too high, they can show themselves to you, or at least try to interact using voices / sound.. It's all depends on the spirit, they're like human, some are good and some are bad, some don't want to interact with human, some others are naughty
I'm not an expert but in my country, Indonesia, people love metaphysic world, so ghost "hunting" is common (people go to abandoned buildings just to see ghost), some people even do more than that for bad use (keeping some type of weaker spirits as a pet to steal money, etc - of course with consequences to be paid later)
There are alot to tell, that's just some small knowledge that I know, but my English is limited hahaha
