I know Iâm gonna mess it up a few times probably, but this will save me so much time going to every single chest to empty items. Your videos are super helpful for a player like me who just got back into the game recently. Thanks for not shouting for no reason like most Minecraft youtubers.
No problem and no shouting XD
Seriouslyyy, the no shouting is awesome
The calmness is great, and makes it muxh easier to process all the info đ«¶
It's gets better though..
If you end up making mob farms or automatic plant farms, these modules can help sort out, and auto smelt unstackable weapons.. increasing iron or gold outputs, as well
If only there was a way to redstone cauldrons and buckets.. đ
for anyone struggling with things that are stackable to 16:
each item is 4 times the weight for the redstone hopper, so 1 egg/ender pearl/etc = 4 normal stackable items. So since 23 total items trigger the 2nd redstone, we need to get to 23. I have found that it is necessary to have 2 of the items you want to sort in the hopper so my recommendation is:
2 ender pearl/egg/etc | 4 sorter | 4 sorter | 3 sorter | 3 sorter. (= 22 so one more item will flow it to the chest)
do you know if it is possible to add a second item to one row of 5 chests? example i want to put 5 types of wood logs in the first section but wouldn't mind having the associated planks fall with the logs in
@@thechewiestream5284i dont think its possible in this system. if both item types came through at the same time it would over power the hopper and unlock the hopper next to it.
@@thechewiestream5284 wont work but there are multi item sorters on youtube they are just more complicated
Does this sort specific items in specific chest

Excellent tutorial! Item sorting is something many people want to do and you explained everything in a simplified and concise manner.
Item sorting is definitely something that is incredibly useful especially once the system is set up
@@Eyecraftmc Agreed, especially in late game, item sorting is very important.
I absolutely love your tutorials! I'm very picky with tutorials because so many minecraft tutorials just go way too fast or are too unspecific and difficult to follow through, but your tutorials are nice, slow, specific, and have an amazing flow. I love your content!! Keep up the good work â€ïžâ€ïž
Thank you so much! Adding this is saving me hours of time in my world. I've made a simplified version since I play modded so an in-depth one would be large, so my sorter just cuts to a random sorter at the end, but even just sorting woods, basic blocks and ores from the rest has really helped. Thanks again!
For anyone planning to make this in a survival world, make sure you plan for each section to be 7 blocks deep NOT 6 as he says as he says. The total depth of the area BEHIND the very front chests is 6 which is what he was talking about I believe. But including the fact that they are double chests and part of them is in the wall you need 7 total blocks of room (including the wall). I ran into this problem while trying to make a double sided version and I only gave myself 13 blocks of room (6 + 6 + 1 extra in the middle so the redstone doesn't cross)
I was literally looking for this yesterday, and here you are with the upload. Legend
awesome!! I've been doing a ton of modded here lately and my wife and I just started a vanilla server with our friends. My passion in Minecraft has always been automation along with building, so I wanted the heart of my base to be an item sorting system with visible water tunnels set in the paths between my builds so you can see the items coming from the various farms all flowing toward the sorter. The biggest issue was, I couldn't remember the configuration for the comparator section after all this time! glad to see it's still being used, though I like the improvements you've added to it.
I used to use sticks as my sorting item, but I can see the benefits of using an item that stacks to 64 instead! Better control over the number items left in the sorter, and less of a chance that something with an odd stack size breaks everything and you end up sit sorting sticks in a chest followed by everything else that's been put in after it!
Sooo, many times I had to get back into the guts of my sorter to fix that issue. . . lol
Super cool, you have such a knack for redstone!
Really looking forward to using this in my worlds, and patiently waiting for part 2 :D

YOU ARE AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you soooooo much!
With the item dispenser at 6:20, he states the redstone sets the timing of item dropper so the sorter can process it. I assume this means faster dropping will not allow effective sorting. My understanding is that the comparator out the back of the dropper will energise when any items are in it. The 3 tick repeater sends a signal to the 1 tick repeater which activates the dropper. The redstone into the side of the comparator locks the comparator off for those 3 ticks. The dropper ejects on the pulse activation, so this locking results in the pulsing required for repeated ejection. I think the 1 tick repeater is just to align the circuit to power the dropper.
Very useful. I need a storage system rn
Glad to help!
Great video!!
For anyone having breaking issues or setting it up. You have to follow the exact amount. The hopper should not receive more than 5 of your unique item or else its going to break. Set it up with initial 3 pieces of your unique item
I love you đ
Thank you! I was trying to figure out why it was getting all screwed up.
My first stack is dirt for a test run.. it's filling up as expected... But then it gets to the top where the comparator is and it breaks.. the comparator hopper is setup like so / 1 X item / 1 unique item / 1 unique item / 1 unique item / 41 unique items. / But then the X item, dirt in this case gets to 64 because it can't unload anywhere I guess so that causes the unique items to dump to the next comparator hopper.. and that breaks that stack ..
Is that what I'm doing wrong? I'm putting in 4 stacks of 5 bamboo named "LLL" then usually a full stack of the item I want sorted. Only to find the unique bamboo filters down.
First thought it was because I was using smooth stone and not glass for the water(didn't fix it), but you're saying it's because using more than 3 items in the initial setup?
I'll try that and see if it clears things up.
@@dylanpelo did it work?
I made this in 1.19 and I love it. The modularity is great. You can build as many sections as you want, and you can go around corners by using a water stream or hoppers. I made a big 'U' shape in my base.
It keeps randomly breaking for me. Seems to happen more if I move away during sorting. I'll return to two chest full of my filler item and random items in the chest.. hopper empty. And yes, I'm only putting in 2 of 3 of the sorted item
@@Twallrion Hmmm... tough to say without seeing, but I thought of a couple of things to check:
1. Have you renamed all of your filler items?
2. Are your filler items an item that can be stacked to 64? Items that make stacks of 16 are "heavier"
3. You need to put in 3 of the sorted items at first, because one item get sucked down into the hopper below. That means you have 2 sorted items, and 4 stacks-of-5 filler items in the hopper connected to the comparator, and one item gets stuck in the hopper below. The hopper below the hopper connected to the comparator is the one that is actually locked, and when the items flow in they create a signal that powers the comparator out and turns off the torch unlocking the hopper underneath. (It's hard to describe, hopefully you understand what I mean)
It could also be that you are going outside of your simulation distance, and that is messing with the redstone signals.
Thank you đ
cool, nice, will you show a shulker box loader for bulk storage?
i swear this channel has never not had the video I needed
im so high rn and just wanna say your videos are so comforting to me, love your voice, bros like the bob ross of tutorial Minecraft videos.
I have found, if ice is unavailable, using another line of hoppers instead to move the items along works just as well (better if you are getting any lag from entities)
Don't forget put composters on top of extra line of hoppers this will help reduce lag
composters?
Perfect timing my man
Can't wait for the next one
Another good vid
This is a great tutorial and easy if youâre building it in creative! In survival it would be tough to get that many materials for everything in the game but for a small simple storage system works great and easy to build!
Nice!
tip: if you rename signs (or any other item only stackable up to 16) you only need 4 signs and 6 of the item you want to sort, per hopper. of course you can choose which ever way you want but signs uses less items (or ender pearls if you have a really fast ender pearl farm), its just a different way to do it
edit: technically 7 of the item you want to sort since one always gets stuck in the hopper below it
This is so cool. I love the sorter. I still need to find an allay though. Since the 1.19 was released I still didnt find one, even after travelling 5k blocks in every direction. Thank you very much for the tutorial Eyecraft!

I've followed this block for block, and there are times where the machine just breaks, where everything in the sorter hoppers drops down into the chests below it, thus opening up for *everything* to go into that hopper. This is generally the first hopper, but more often than not its the first 5 hoppers that this thing happens
Same. Anybody have a solution??
i would make the repeaters at the start have an extra tick, right click it to the max. Will slow the process down

You have to put exactly 3 items in each hopper when putting in your filters. Any more and you overload the circuit. I tried to drop a full stack into one and this exact thing happened. Hopefully this fixes your issue.
@@flirtyshirty9040 I do put only exactly 3 items into each hopper which is why I'm scratching my head about why it just breaks.

Firstly wanted to say I appreciate your videos a lot and they have been really helpful. I have built this design and it worked very well but I'm having trouble with lag due to the large amount of chests and hoppers. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Built a smaller version at my own world, got some lag but didn't realize it was being caused by chest and hoppers. Started building a much bigger version at a smp and soon realized that the huge amount of components started to lag it to the point of being unplayable. Thought about building it somewhere else we wouldn't be all the time since at our main city/base it would compromise playability. Any suggestions? Some research I made suggested switching chests for barrels.
Great video and explanation as always :) One question though, is it possible to build around corners to make the system more compact or would items get stuck?
still need an answer to this\

@@khrounose you can
I swear youâre psychic, I needed to make this. WTF
Really hoping someone sees this and is able to help! I âfinishedâ the sorting system for my room, and it seemed to be working great at first. Then, at a certain point some of the fillers were spitting through all the way to the bottom chest thus ruining the sorting. It seemed that it mainly happened to the blocks I dumped a lot of into the input. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
You must use 18 sorters rather than 20 in order for this item sorter to operate with enderperls (and any items that have a stack of 16).
What do you mean
Very helpful video, do you think you could create a litematic download for ease of use?
I ended up just making some modules that are next to each other that the shulker Boxes of non stackables goes into. I can open the shulker box pull out the items that belong in that slice and hit a button it then sends the shulker box to the next slice. I go through three double chests of shulker boxes pulling out that one particular item then move myself over to the next slice and do the same thing . I only have slices for stuff that I actually want to keep everything else goes into a lava pit seems to be way faster than waiting around for the allay. I'm able to go threw my raid farm storage fast and not have to wait for the allay to get my totems ready
This system doesn't have overflow protection correct? I have the dispenser set to 3 ticks. but some of my chests will overflow and send a redstone signal too far down breaking everything. What would be the best way to add overflow protection to this?
Hey there, I may be late to the comment section but I've a question.
Is there a way to make a row accept more than 1 block, lets say stone bricks AND stone bricks stairs ?

Hi eyecraft! First of all I just wanna say I absolutely LOVE your videos! You are one of my favourite CZcamsrs! Anyway I just built a system exactly like yours. Itâs working great, however I found out that sometimes the items I put into the input chest just randomly disappear. I donât know why is that happening⊠for instance I just put 2 diamond blocks into the trapped chest but I only got one in the diamond block section. I checked every single hopper and chest of the entire system, but surprisingly none of them have the missing diamond block⊠is it bugged or despawned for some reason? I double-checked the design and Iâm pretty sure I built it correctlyâŠ
Thxs
Nice vid! but instead of using a clock could you not just spam the items and then get the overflow back to the dropper via a water system?
for all people who have problems with the sorter!!!
You have to use the input chest as in the video,
otherwise the comparators will emit too strong a signal
and the boxes around them will also drop their items
Do you know why my sorter keeps breaking, is it because some of the chests are full now?
@@rosecharles9563 yes, this design does not have overflow protection, it is inferior in that sense, i think eyecraft should have shown both designs in his video
it is quite simple to fix, instead of:
Blank | Dust | Comparator
Dust | Block | Block
Block | Repeater | Block | Torch
you do:
Blank | Dust | Dust | Comparator
Dust | Block | Block | Block
Block | Repeater | Block | Torch
essentially you push the whole mechanism back one block so that there is an extra restone dust between the comparator and the repeater, then instead of doing 3-5-5-5-5 in the sorting hopper, you do 64-1-1-1-1 and the first slot should empty out until its 41-1-1-1-1. adding the extra redstone dust makes it so that even if the first slot has a full stack of items in it, the comparators signal strength never bleeds into the lines adjacent causing the filters to leak out and break the system!
if you need visual example heres a link to a video on it that has stood the test of time: czcams.com/video/NHjWYCDYJ4s/video.html
i personally use some of both in my sorting system, expensive items than i know will pretty much never fill the system like diamonds and netherite, i use the one shown in the video because it only takes 3 of that item to sort it out, but for pretty much everything else im a fan of the overflow protection, keep in mind that when using both types there must be a gap between the different types of sorter, or the sorting system with overflow protection WILL break the one without overflow protection immediately
@@Dawz3G Are there any special differences in the design you're talking about when sorting stacks up to 16 (ender pearls/eggs and such) like there are with the one in this video? all this stuff is so confusing to me lol
@@dudeman3301 yes because stuff that stacks to 16 is waited differently as in each individual item has a value of 4 as far as the compactors are concerned. So you have to use a different system for those items.
i keep on having an issue where the filter breaks and all the items just end up funneling into 1 chest stack, any ideas?

Quick Question: Occasionally I will have certain sorters where the renamed iron nuggets will sort through and break that particular section. Have you had this problem and know a fix? Its rare but can be frustrating since the system is tucked away and requires some digging to replace the nuggets and blocks.
same here
Same
I figured it out. So my issue was putting nuggets in before the block you want to have sorted there. Make sure you put in exactly 3 of that block in the first slot (I broke it by putting in a full stack as well). And you have to have a piece of nugget in each of the remaining four slots (if there is an empty slot in the hopper it will mess it up). Make sure you don't put the nuggets un first, or less than 20 pieces of nuggets in total, or they will get sucked in.

@@chancemorine1642 , yeah i have already done that. The sorter works fine for an hour or so then just breaks at random. kinda strange going to keep trying a fix

I followed the whole system exactly... but whenever I send an inventory full of things to sort, things get jumbled up, the sorter items end up getting sent into the chests, and the whole thing screws up. Any thoughts?
Did you find a way to fix your problem? I have the exact same issue..
@@ClemGurpS Yes! It had to do with the speed at which the items were getting sent. make one of the repeaters a tick slower. seems to work now. And only use the chest, don't throw things in by hand.
Amazing video, do you think you could show us how you would connect it to a mega base and also that chest boat dock idea
I could although you basically just want to make a long line of hoppers from the sorter input going into each other with trapped chests for around your base inputs or hoppers below a block of water for chest boats

first I think, sadly since I am in 1.18.2 modded this is of no use to me, but it's still a great video!
I just built this in survival and its awesome! One quick question though. Will travelling far enough to unload the chunk or going into the nether break the sorting? Or do I have to wait for it to complete? Many thanks!
