      To me it is sometimes relaxing, because it loosens all the tension in a powerful way. It is not so much calming down as it is shaking of stress and tension. Freeing my chest, freeing my breath. I also sometimes get a soothing feeling as if something warm is appearing in my chest and slowly spreads through my body, releasing any tension or doubts I have. Good music is truly a serene experience and should never be judged solely by the looks of the performers!

      I don't really think this is a weird thing to say for someone who has no context for this music. It's repetitive like a chant, has a light melodic section building to a heavier rhythmic part of the song and they have such a big orchestral element to their music.

  • @serujiphonx9070

    7:28 This is one of the details that make Rammstein so awesome - "du hast" means "you have" but "du hasst" (slightly stronger pronounciation on the s, but nearly the same) means "you hate".
    Ramstein songs have at least two meanings they always build in little twists like that which goes over the head of a non german speaker...
    You, you hate, you hate me...!?
    You... you hate, you hate me!
    You have asked me and i said nothing!

      They have command of their native tongue, and seem to enjoy their double entendres.
      This is how you separate the children from the scholars.
      To be able to write something with a complex double meaning, and not have the two definitions be at odds with one another, but instead compliment... It's some next level shit.

    • @beritgehrke4527
      @beritgehrke4527 Před 4 měsíci

      the "s" is identical in pronunciation (only the spelling is different) - the only difference is in (neutral) sentential stress when you have the whole sentences: Du hasst mich. (stress on the main verb "hasst") vs. Du hast mich gefragt. (stress on the main verb "gefragt"). And the lyrics are even more subtle, it is not "will you marry me - no" but "will you be faithful/true until death parts you - no", which could also be understood in terms of friendship etc. And yes, I always loved their play on words!

    • @jmpet7134
      @jmpet7134 Před 4 měsíci

      @@jastermereel8387 Its a play on german words that sound similar. Initially it sounds like "you hate me" but later they add the words "nicht gefragt" which when combined with "hast" is past tense of "to ask" so it actually says you didn't ask me. The meaning is lost in translation due to the play on the german words.

Of course, we discuss the issues regarding R and so on, that it`s not natural and it shouldn`t be reproduced but there are no nazi-vibes if I can put it this way. The Nazis in Soviet/Russian movies speak Hochdeutsch: very beautiful (to me, however, some refer to it as "barking"), very threatening, very difficult to follow. That stuff is never used in class.

    • @lo4568
      @lo4568 Před 2 lety +8

      @@mytargetlanguages8803 Hochdeutsch has nothing to do with the nazis, many people speak Hochdeutsch here. A better term for Hochdeutsch is Standarddeutsch. Standarddeutsch refers to all the variations of the German language that are written down in a dictionary ( = that are standardized). There are three variations of Standarddeutsch: German Standarddeutsch, Austrian Standarddeutsch, Swiss Standarddeutsch. All three of those variations are "legit", meaning that if you get a letter from the government (for example), it will be written in Standarddeutsch. It's basically the official language. Many people speak Standarddeutsch on a daily basis, myself included. Standarddeutsch does not include slang or dialects. They are not Standarddeutsch, which means that you will never receive an official document that is written in a dialect or slang. If you are unsure whether a term that you have heard is Standarddeutsch oder dialect/slang, just look it up in a dictionary. If it can be found in a dictionary, it is Standarddeutsch, which means that you can use it in official documents/scientific papers/etc. There are also slight differences in German, Austrian and Swiss Standarddeutsch, which you can also look up in the dictionaries, but most stuff is the same. This is why Germans, Austrians and Swiss people can all communicate perfectly with each other, as long as we use Standarddeutsch. Once we start speaking in our different dialects, we don't understand anything at all anymore lol. But that doesn't only happen between Austrians and Germans for example, it also happens between Germans and Germans or Austrians and Austrians because we have multiple very different dialects in our countries. So a German from the north and a German from the south will probably not understand each other well (if they use their dialects), UNLESS they choose to speak Standarddeutsch. Standarddeutsch/Hochdeutsch is basically a blessing to the German language because otherwise we wouldn't understand sh#t lol

      @@verenas3536 it’s actually the old “radio speech”. Back in the early days of radio, you couldn’t understand anything anyone said unless they massively overpronounced. Hence the stereotypical “radio announcer” voice. The dialect Till uses in performance is the German equivalent. Before it was used by Nazis, it was much more associated with Ernst Busch: a leftist singer, and a big inspiration for Till. Busch is most famous for being the Narrator in the first production of The Threepenny Opera. He was also active in anti-Nazi protests throughout the 1930s: using radio to continue broadcasting activist music into Germany from Amsterdam. When the Spanish Civil War broke out, Busch went to Spain along with many other German exiles. Rather famously, he recorded an album during a bombing raid on Madrid. Eventually the Nazis captured him, and he spent 12 years in a concentration camp. When he was released, he suffered a stroke (likely due to mistreatment while in the camp). His ex-wife found him (prewar he had a habit of marrying lesbians so they could get citizenship papers), and helped him recover. He returned to East Germany as a hero.

Is that why there so are many romance languages. You can see it better, thought in French, since the Vulgar Latin spoken there was heavily influences by Frankish tribes and the motive that Portuguese is considered the language most close related to vulgar latin (aside from sardinian from what I know ) its because the Gothic (The germanic tribe that settled on the Iberian peninsula and got clapped by trhe Rashidun arabs )influence is almost dead, but there are lots of arabic influence in it, though

  • @omanipadmeum7319
    @omanipadmeum7319 Před rokem +5

    Rammstein has to be seen live, because they are a weapon there and the incredible crowd control is a trademark of them and no matter in which country they play, the audience sings in German like in Paris .🆒
    The action with the fireworks did not even take place in a stadium but in a hall ( Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy) and would be unthinkable in e.g. America due to their immense safety regulations. If they go on tour there, the fans will miss a lot and will never get to see many really wicked effects!
    By the way Til does this specific move, called "Til Hammer" cause he had dislocated his knee before a concert and repeatedly hit it in the backstage area to bring it back in. The other band members found this movement totally cool so that he he adopted it for the stage !
    Apart from the fact that Til is a trained pyrotechnician, at Rammstein concerts a special stage worker is very close to the stage and is connected by a microphone to the person who controls the fire. He feels the temperature on his cheek and gives corresponding instructions whether you can still step it up a notch or the flames have to be reduced.
    Another pure madness with with the audience - czcams.com/video/fAaIFUXj4-8/video.html
    At another concert Til greets his band members, who are carried back to the main stage in a rubber dinghy with a "Welcome - Sign". A political statement for the refugees who have drowned by the thousands in the Mediterranean Sea.
    Please look at the live performance of "Ich will" - czcams.com/video/zO2t3KQMPPY/video.html - (with subtitles) "Rock am Ring" is one of the biggest festival events in Germany. The Ring, which we say, is the legendary Formula 1 race track "Nürburgring"(The green hell), located in the middle of a central mountain of Germany, the "Volcano - Eifel". Rammstein was the Headliner and there are more than 85000 fans on the target line and I was right in the middle 😜 and not only the few thousand hardcore fans directly in front of the stage answer Til's questions, but actually the entire audience down to the last row and to have been there and to feel the concentrated energy of the audience was just indescribable !
    At some point Ramstein discovered that you can make up with instant coffee. According to concentration, black to red spots appear, which looks like dirt or blood. Flake was hyper nervous all the time during an earlier tour. What did he forget ? That he was made up with lots of coffee in the evening during every concert - Maybe the reason why he needs a treadmill 😉?
    But without Flake Rammstein would never have been what they are. Again and again he is only moved into the nerd corner and underestimated enormously. What most people remember is only the treadmill he is running on while playing. Most of the Rammstein pieces are backed by a mostly inconspicuous but sometimes bombastically symphonic sound body combined with techno elements and so much more. It´s done so cleverly that it is hardly noticeable in the foreground. But if you take it out of the equation and mix it away at the mixer console, the rest sounds almost like any metal band. Together with the typical Rammstein monster guitar riffs the keyboards in the background fill up the entire sound, make things round, and not at least because of this Rammstein sounds so unique !
    Please check it out - czcams.com/video/IjGNTqAW58E/video.html - czcams.com/video/jRxW5Vzeo0A/video.html (here you can see Til flying)
    Exactly this concert in Germany took place about 20 km from where I lived and you could still hear it over a hill in between and see the light show flickering in the distance. You could clearly experience the sound level at which Rammstein are traveling 💥🤯
    This melodic sound together with the unbelieveble power that Rammstein brings over is also to be seen here - czcams.com/video/Uq41Fmw5CGI/video.html
    ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE, this performance was nominated for the Grammy 👍 - czcams.com/video/qFpjMNKxsnA/video.html - The song is based on a true story that happened in Germany. A cannibale looked for someone on the Internet who could be eaten by him and also found someone. Just google "The Rothenburg Cannibal".
    Totally whacky. Richard Kruspe tells the story in an interview on the DVD "In Amerika" released in 2015. First the police arrested Paul Landers off the stage and then one by one, the sound became thinner and thinner as the other band members were arrestet and at some point he put his guitar down and turned himself to the cops. For Rammstein, who had come together in the former GDR, the left dictatorial eastern part of divided Germany, America was in their imagination the "land of unlimited possibilities" in which you can do pretty much anything. After a night in jail they know that it was a really stupid idea to perform anything like that in a big city in the "Bible Belt" - czcams.com/video/pRXkDYTSAj4/video.html - 😱😉 In Germany, this kind of thing doesn't upset (almost) anyone anymore - we're a little more relaxed there.
    One of the best titles by Rammstein but not as well known is Donaukinder" - czcams.com/video/Oi-ixUoWAOU/video.html - it´s underpinned by Franzisco Navarro with scenes from the film "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas". But be careful, because for those who have even dealt with the Holocaust a little, this is really hard stuff ! At first I was interested, then banned, then horrified and then there were only tears. As a German with a left-wing liberal background, I would have to hate the camp commandant, but otherwise he is also a father. However, someone who lets the children of others gasify without scruples. But something like this had to happen, I guess, so that he finally recognizes this absolutely inhuman madness and his constant self-deception !
    "Wo sind die Kinder" - "Where are the children" alludes to the fact that in German death camps, women and children were gassed first so that no more Jews could grow up or be born. "Keiner weiß, was hier geschehen, keiner hat etwas gesehen" means "Nobody knows what happened here, nobody saw anything" refers to the fact that very few Germans wanted to have known about the concentration camps, which of course was complete nonsense. For example, thousands of apartments were suddenly vacant because the Jewish residents had been deported during the night. The very next day, "Aryan" Germans, mostly belonging to the party cadre, moved in.
    Then hundreds of civilian German guards were employed in the death camps, who were even proud of their "work" and bragged about it to their acquaintances and friends. I could give many more examples, which prove that it was total bullshit, when it was claimed not to have seen anything and not to know what was happening there.
    Rammstein pieces are pure energy and if one can keep his butt still while listening, you should see a doctor as soon as possible 🤣

    Till is a true wordsmith, you can tell how fun he has in choosing the right words for his lyrics.
    and German offers a lot in terms of those play of words and meaning layers.
    for that reason, in this case a literal translation tends to fall a little short, so it must have been a hard task to convey the full sense of the song to our favorite Trybals.

    Im a german native speaker and I have to say that it is very hard to translate the lyrics of a Rammstein song. This is because they always play a lot with words. So for example the beginning:
    "Du
    Du hast
    Du hast mich"
    literally means :
    "You,
    you have,
    you have me"
    But the verb "hast" sounds exactly the same as the verb "hasst" which means "hate". So as a german speaker you can choose between two meanings: The literally one above and the following:
    "You
    you hate
    You hate me"

    "Du hast" or "Du hast mich" has a double meaning in German. It can also mean "Du hasst mich" (= You hate me from the Verb "hassen"). You don't hear the double-s, the pronounciation is the same. The line "Du hast mich gefragt" ("you have asked me") makes you realize the difference. So that is the funny part in it.
