    They might be “tribal” peoples, meaning disconnected from the global community. But they’re much more accepting than the friends I played this song for in eastern Canada. My friends were like, “nope, that’s more hardcore than George Jones! Turn that off!!!!”
    These folks actually took the time to interpret the lyrics and appreciate the skill involved in hitting those notes. I want to hang out with them. My friends are nerds in a bad way.

      Hi! Oh, I can relate with you so much!! I'm also from Eastern Canada)) also love Jinjer and also feel lonely with being their fan.. I was born and used to live in Eastern Ukraine, the same region Jinjer from. The same story there, buy the way.. Metal, especially anything close to Black or Death Metal are highly underrated and underpriced there too, deep deep underground music I would say) I'm used for being almost the only person in our circle of friends who loves Metal.. when I drive in my car with someone else I have my special playlist called "Rock (people friendly)" where I have all the softer mellow songs. Cause I can't listen to the radio and majority of my close family and friends can't stand my favorite songs...

      Part of it is that the kind of people you would want for this is people that are more open minded. They also knew that they were going to be shown some weird stuff from the western world and then mentally prepared themselves.
      Lastly some of them have heard of throat singing before so they have some frame of reference for what is going on.

    This was the most insightful reaction video to this song yet. They didn’t try to act as experts on technique or criticize her for doing this type of make dominated metal. They simply reacted to something they have never seen a woman do and they were more interested in what she had to say then how she said it. It gives a window into the world and life of the reviewers.

    I'm a huge Jinjer fan and probably have seen hundreds of reactions to this song. This one is definitely top 10!!! Great analysis and understanding from both sides: the person who've been translating and presenting the song did amazing job, and also incredible deep understanding from many of the reactors. So happy to see this reaction, because being Ukrainian myself (like Jinjer band members) and living in Canada I have bearly any friends and family members who can understand why I'm so obsessed with this band. Also I found their music really relaxing. Love guttural growls in general. When I stopped associating growling with angry person screaming at me, and just listen to it as another music instrument it becomes something like a bass guitar riff))) powerful, fulfilling and steady. Also can associate it with purring of a cat) such a peacefull low vibrations. Love it! Thank you for this reaction. I've been watching your channel for quite a long time, it's always fascinating!

    Let them know that we are all capable of this voice. Men and women both. It just takes a lot of practice and control to reach it. And you also have to be very careful. You could ruin your vocal chords if you don't do it right. It's probably a good idea to have a vocal coach that has experience with this type of growel.

    • @zazz69ed
      @zazz69ed Před 2 lety +6

      not hard at all to do and yes any vocal coach could teach it in a matter of minutes..the big issue is staying relaxed as for vocal chords to produce low notes they have to be relaxed.. is much harder to go lower as you reach a physical limit when going lower while going higher is not an issue because your vocal chords can always get tighter and tighter.. some call this growling a falsetto technique..but like anything practice makes perfect and she has had tons of it and can switch with no effort or hurt to her voice. she has a beautiful voice and range.

    I loved seeing their reactions! And I'm glad you got to be introduced to the awesomeness of Jinjer as well~ Kudos to you for doing so much research and conferring with the subscribers so you are able to present them with as full a perspective on things as possible. I was busy the past few days, so I was glad to see you got lots of responses on the post discussing the lyrics for this song.
    I appreciate how open they all are to new things. Mohammad has good literary comprehension, and always seems to have well thought out interpretations of the things you show him. And I personally agree with Muharam that she used three broad categories of vocal textures in this song- at the end she does a belt along with the clean/low vocals and the scream. And she switches between them so flawlessly! That's the most impressive thing for me, as a trained singer.
    It was neat to hear their perspectives on astrology and see some of them get introduced to it a bit as well. And I loved how interested they were in the tattoos! Perhaps you can show them various tattoo/piercing/body modification traditions + recent innovations from around the world? Maybe after they see Alien Weaponry and the Maori culture from their music vids? 😉
    I think it's so interesting how culture shapes what we view as attractive. Like a few hundred years ago in Europe it was considered attractive to have a big forehead, and people would pluck their hair line way back?? And in Japan they used to blacken their teeth (and apparently the stuff they put on them had the side-effect of helping with dental health too!). Even just here in the US, we've seen fashions completely change every few years or so. And that's just in the dominant culture, let alone if we take subcultures into consideration.
    I've personally always wanted to get my ears pointed like an elf/vampire/other supernatural being, and maybe even dental implants to have fangs too heheh~ And of course lots of tattoos and piercings, but the problem is I'm so indecisive on what I should get 😅

It's refreshing and what ALWAYS brings back hope in humanity again is to see that we all recognize things based on emotions, body language, facial expressions, etc. We gain understanding from sensing what is in front of us, and these people are pros in doing it. Without understanding the culture of music represented to them (I'm talking about all music they listened to on this channel) and no knowledge of the language they are picking up on the emotions of music, and that is what is the most fascinating thing in this world - music being the universal language.

    🔥Welcome to Jinjer! I just found your channel, I love the way you explained the lyrics in this reaction, and I loved all the thoughtful responses, subbed! Thank you for bringing the fantastic genre twisting music of Jinjer to more people! I love their energy, how tight they are, how down to earth they are, the heaviness mixed with complexity and groove, beautiful singing and beautiful growling and especially Tatiana's lyrics!
    The first time I heard Pisces last year I hadn't liked any metal with growling and it took me a few listens to start liking it, but now Tatiana is my favorite vocalist and Jinjer my favorite band.
    TLDR: skip to the last paragraph 😂
    Sorry for the very long comment, I just love Jinjer too much and love seeing people discover (and usually fall in love with) them and each of their songs!
    My three favorite comments about Jinjer that I've seen, "terrifying levels of talent", "I hate it when a Jinjer song ends", and "that was more unexpected than my first child" 🤣
    I love the story of Tatiana getting interested in learning to growl. In her own words, "I was inspired by Otep (Shamaya). When I was 15, my friend showed me a record of House of Secrets. I was like, ‘That dude - his voice is so powerful. And he said, ‘Oh come on Tatiana, that’s actually a woman!’ I was like, ‘What?’ She blew my mind. That was the time, the moment when I realized I wanted to shock people just like her. I just had the feeling or the intuition, like an extra sense that this is what I’m made to do.”
    The four current members have essentially no musical training except for Vlad the drummer who studied classical piano. They've been a tour heavy band, on the road almost nonstop from 2013 to 2020, hard work that has made them fantastic live and they make it look effortless. For most of their songs, the three guys write most of the instrument music, then Tatiana writes most of the lyrics and melodies (she gets tons of well deserved credit for her vocal and stage performance abilities, but maybe not quite enough for her lyrical and musical composition abilities). Roman the guitarist has written a lot of the instrument music in the past, so he's a huge part of the beautiful sound of Jinjer, but Vlad the drummer (who also plays guitar and piano, but so far not in most Jinjer songs - I think he played piano in lainnereP) has been writing more of it and wrote nine of the eleven songs for the newest album Wallflowers, first four videos are out for Vortex, Mediator, Wallflower and Disclosure! Eugene composes some - he wrote the instrument music for one song on Wallflowers and a few songs on other albums, and I know that apart from his amazing work on the bass, he adds riffs and has written lyrics for a few Jinjer songs.
    The band (all members have been Ukrainian, with Russian their first language) started in eastern Ukraine in 2009 as a group of three (then five) with none of the current members (they consider the official start of the band when Tatiana replaced the male vocalist and Roman joined as lead guitar 2009/2010), Vlad is the fifth drummer (joined in 2016) and it's been a group of four since 2015 (though they consider their road sound engineer Sasha to be a fifth member). I think they're still friends with all the former members and you can see former Jinjer guitarist turned actor, Dmitry Oksen, on guitar in older Jinjer videos, and acting as an interrogator in their latest video, Disclosure!
    One of the things I love most about Jinjer is the messages in Tatiana's lyrics and the way she combines her beautiful growling and beautiful singing with Jinjer's fantastic instrumentals to be so powerful for expressing the anger and pain in those messages: the anti-war message in Home Back, the anti-greed in On The Top, Mediator and No Hoard Of Value (also the horror of the coal mining industry in their home Ukraine), the protest song Who Is Gonna Be The One, the anti-fascism of Sit Stay Roll Over, the anger at people being narrow minded in Teacher Teacher and Judgment & Punishment, the struggles with mental health in Pit Of Consciousness, Vortex, Wallflower and Perennial, the giving voice to mother nature angry at humanity for letting capitalism destroy her in a bunch of songs like Ape, The Prophecy, Cloud Factory, Noah, Outlander, Dip A Sail and Bad Water. Other favorites are I Speak Astronomy, Retrospection, Words of Wisdom, Just Another, Captain Clock, Scissors, Exposed As A Liar, I Want It I'll Get It, A Plus Or A Minus, When Two Empires Collide, lainnereP, Prologue and Beggar's Dance (those last two are short album bookends that might do well together in one reaction).
    I haven't found a Jinjer song I don't love, so I think you can't go wrong if you choose any of them, but a few good choices might be Perennial (official and/or live at Wacken, both are must-see), Teacher Teacher (official and/or live in Melbourne), Judgement & Punishment (official and/or Tatiana's one take performance, again both must-see), Pit of Consciousness (official and/or live in Kiev/Kyiv, a third where both are absolutely must-see) or the heartwrenching plea against war in Home Back (official video). Note that because Jinjer has so many great official videos and so many astounding live performance videos, no Jinjer fan will ever mind if you react to a second video for a Jinjer song you've already heard, so whichever songs you choose, whatever pace you like: hope you'll keep trying more Jinjer and enjoy! ❤🖤🤘

    Tatiana is the best female singer of the genre ! Did you check "I speak astronomy" ? Because the end is epic !

      @firstclaw1 Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah, Tatiana could give me goosebumps only by singing and growling a phone book. But on top they have outstanding instrumentalists, nice music, great ideas, and a deep message worth reflecting after the song is complete.

    As far as Growling you dont actually sing, you open your throat and force air up and make the non vocal cords vibrate and control the sound with your mouth.

    I really enjoy these kinds of videos that you guys make and it's great that you choose one of my favorite bands and discuss the message of this sick song, something that I haven't seen much on channels or people do when they listen to music. Much respect pals, fan of your content. Greetings from Uruguay

    We gotta get them to check out "Lorna shore- to the hellfire" It's one of the top trending deathcord tracks of this year and the lyrics actually have meaning. it'd be cool to see how they react to the vocalist cause his range is insane.

      Maybe need to go for some melodic death metal first, think early In flames..

      @@danideath1726 It's go big or go home my friend. I was mainly saying they should react to the new lorna shore because it would make there channel even more bigger and it'd be a very interesting video to watch. Tbh I I'd go out and say I prefer early In Flames over lorna shore but I highly doubt In Flames is going to blow this channel up as much as Lorna shore will.
