    I see you did this video 5 years ago! It is still helping people like me with a 2013 SRX. Thanks for helping us diy’rs.

    Sir, I am actually a mechanic, retired, and often refer to CZcams for information on a repair. Was having trouble finding the rear drain on my 2015 SRX, and having searched all I was finding was help for the front drains (which were obvious). You saved me time by leading me right to to the drains I was looking for, thank-you for taking the time to make this video! It is appreciated.

    Just found out today water has started seeping inside my headliner. Could not figure out how to fix it. This is awesome! This fine gentleman is going to save me a lot of heartache. Thank you SIR

    Thank you Mr. Dixon for this excellent video. I just did mine by following what you did step by step. I don't know that I ever would have found where those drains come out without this tutorial.

    It worked! Best access point to the drain tube. I used plastic trimmer cord to snake the tube to the top, then compressed air to blow out the "partial obstuction" that was left.
    THANK YOU, Sir!

    Thank you Mr. Dixon! There were many videos on this subject but yours was the first I saw showing where the rear drain tubes come out of the body. Thanks to you I feel like my problem will be solved in short order

    Great Video. I ran water in the track before using the air hose and no drainage. Soon as I gave it a little spritz of air all the water came streaming out. Next I ran the air hose till I heard the air blowing up and out the drain tube in the rear of the sunroof. Great video that uses minimal break down of the car to fix.

  • @dcrofford1
    @dcrofford1 Před 3 lety +2

    I solved my problem but in a slightly different manner. Instead of blowing compressed air through the drain tube I used my shop vac to suck whatever the clog was out. Worked like a champ.

  • @trainingwheels1408
    @trainingwheels1408 Před 2 lety +3

    Great video Mr. Dixon but I would change one thing. Suction is by far the best way to do this! The problem with using compressed air to blow the blockage out is that the drain hoses are only press fit onto the drain channel nipples of the sun roof. Compressed air can blow the hoses off the nipples they are connected to, and then you have a HUGE problem requiring removal of the entire headliner to repair. Try weed eater line or very thin flexible wire first, then suction to clear the drains.

    Good tutorial. While watching it, I came up with a helpful hack I tried and worked wonders on my 2015 SRX . Since the rear moonroof drain holes are unreachable, I decided to pour about 400-500 ml of oxygenated water on each side with car front raised up a bit. In approximate 15 minutes it penetrated through the clogged tubes. The oxygenated water has the property of dissolving buildup without damaging plastic or metal, unlike chlorine. Not taking care of this small issue, will result in water accumulation in the trunk of your SRX which will damage the lift gate module located in front of the spare tire. A lift gate module costs btw $500-1000 dollars plus labour.

    Thanks for this!! This video was so helpful. My wife's rear hatch won't open because the drain hose got blocked and water accumulated where the electronic module for the rear hatch is located. I'm trying to fix everything on my own and this really helped with fixing the root cause of the problem

      Same thing is happening to my SRX at the moment. Have the control module cleaned with rubbing alcohol and in some rice at the moment. Hoping it will work. If not just wondering where you bought and how much you spent on the new control module?

    the drain issue will cause the lift module to burn out. on 90 percent of these that we looked at the liftgates did not work when looking to buy. i fixed my daughters drain tubes and module then drilled 3 holes in floor where module is located with rubber gaskets over holes to drain water if future clogs happen just an f.y.i

    • @chaseman94
      @chaseman94 Před rokem

      That's a good idea on drilling the holes in the floor just in case. I have a few questions to ask you What drill bit size did you use to make the hole , what size rubber washer did you use , and which module did you buy since I see so many on Amazon with mixed reviews? Thank you.

    We had torrential rain here last week and the rear trunk area flooded in my 2012 SRX, burning out the liftgate module. My mechanic intends to blow out the tubes as you describe in your video, but says the rear wheels need to be removed to do it. Your thoughts?

    • @allnoneaw

      i drilled holes in my floor of the module with rubber washers to drain so would not happen again just incase they got stopped up
