Well done for including the foot switch. Not many companies do this and it always really bugs me 👍
This is the best Demo I've ever seen thanks so much.
Very very good video bro. I appreciate you going through every sound. Good job.
The 2000’s metal sounded sick !!
That's one great demo, John!
Very nice demo. I'm a fan of these amps, and this demo shows why many players will find the 100XL a great "go-to" amp for practicing, rehearsals, and recording.
No, they won't.
For everybody that complained about the price of the tone master...well, here you go!
Yeah, it's amazing how much they hike the price up for older technology but offer the new stuff at a killer deal.
Probably because it's solid state
@@DavidSanchez-yy4lf China tone
@@SuperJiggawhat Fender can't speak Chinese?
David Sanchez Tonemaster is also solid state.
Just beautiful, mine is arriving within Tuesday to Friday, can't wait!
Hey Daniel, what's your opinion on it now that you have it?
@@CarlitoM77 it's a great amp. It is really versatile and you can use it on its own without any problem or if you have pedals or multi FX units it's also suitable for them. You can use it at a low volume for practice, but you can also turn up the volume for live performances(for about 100 people, maybe more) or you can mic it so that it doesn't get lost in the mix. I highly recommend it, it's really worth its price and more.
what a fantastic Stratocaster!!
.
Fender are making a really big effort to delve into Digital alternatives and I respect their ambition with it! I'm still gonna be playing my valve Princeton Reverb RI 65' until the day I retire, because its that good... But this amp sounds good and reminds me of the Boss Modeling stuff that's been put out recently - which was also very high quality for modeling!
I don't know... sadly, I don't have my Princeton Chorus no more, he WAS an awesome amp. But hearing this one here, I guess, I would switch. It covers almost all the bases, and sounds great
Same with me and my Tweed Dlx and JCM-1H! But I got a Katana 50 MKII recently and that's getting a lot of use for just regular shedding. I don't see the ChampXL replacing the Katana anytime soon.
I have some fender tube amps and bought a Champion 100 three years ago as just a back up and practice amp. I didn't even open the box for a year 🙄
But I started using it at a local church I play at in a rocking gospel band so I could just leave it there set up. I have to admit once I started using it and broke the speakers in I was amazed how good it sound. It is a loud amp and I would have no problem gigging with it. Outboard effects thru the FX Loop seem to work ok too. With all that said the only difference so far I can tell with the XL is the look, different speakers and the XL is $50 more on Musicians Friend.
Raymon Blodgett you are so right about the speakers needing to break in...especially on solid state and digital amps...I have the mustang gt and it was “too crisp” especially for metal sounds ....after a while when I played clean amps setting I would notice it sounds so much smoother as well as the high gain sounds
I need to take more time and experiment with my Fender 100XL I got last Christmas but add your favorite pedal, little reverb and switch back and forth with clean and this thing is worth the money for the sound you get with the 2 x 12 speakers.
Excellent review! You can see and hear exactly what's going on. I've had Katana 50 and 100. After the honeymoon period was over I ended up not liking them and sold them. I think this is more the amp I'd be happier with in the long term, much less searching and tweaking for a sound which should jump out at you when you first plug in if the amp is right.
I went thru the Katana 50, the Katana 100, and the Katana Artist. Got rid of them and got a Tonemaster DeLuxe Reverb. Now I am happy
I like... gonna get one.
I am getting mine next month. :) Can't wait! I really didn't liked Marshall MG102GFX as it sounded bad enough.
This guy looks cool af ❤
Yeah yeah the amp is cool and all but is no one gonna talk about that gorgeous strat?
actually it's a Stage Star Stratomaster. Very good knock off model.
Lol I think all strats and their knocks are made to look good.
Lol I was thinking the same thing. One of the most beautiful strats I've ever seen. Imagine it as a relic!
Well. I know what ima get myself for christmas.
I was looking for a High gain version of the Tone master. Is this it?
Great demo video , I hope the Mustang GTX sounds as good as this when it arrives. Do Fender make any bad sounding amps at all? Probably not I think. I`m glad they cater for all budgets but I do think that past a certain price level it becomes kidology.
Whats the difference between this one and the normal version without the xl
This going to be my gigging amp.
Did you get it yet?
@@CarlitoM77 not yet got the 40 champion it is loud on 2 in a house.
Decent value for the money. Wonder if that chorus is true stereo chorus, ala Roland JC120 and Fender Ultimate Chorus/Ultra Chorus... or not true stereo chorus?????
How does this compare with boss katana artist 100w?
Dayum, David Wallace can shred.
Yeah, hi Fender. I'm using my champ 100xl as I watch this video and there's no way I can sound like this using the British, Crunch and Metal distortion. How important and decisive to have a Fender Strat to make it sound like in the video?
I love my Champion 100. Is this XL its replacement? I’m not a fan of the black look, or the new font, but it sounds great.
Updated circuit to compete with Katana.
@@yargnad katana sux
@@PedroSilva-tk7inKatana for the win.
Please. The guitar Fender. What model is it? 🙏
Does it has line out, direct out output?
i know the digital twin is an incredible amp its 1000 plus this amp is a few hundred and pretty impressive for the money
can anybody tell me if this one is much better that the first one? im looking for an amplifier to play with my band and events
Is the clean channel completely analog or also a digital emulation?
plethora of harmonic trem pedals out the last few years and the new Champ has Two trem settings but not the classic Fender harmonic trem? Sounds like the one amp " to rule them all" for weekend pleasure players well done.
Does it have a switch that can turn in to 50watts?
Auto wah doesn't sound great on the amp but that's truly the only feature I didn't think sounded decent. Still well worth the money. Are they stopping the production of this model and size (100 watts)?
Fender Mustang IV V.2 is the best Amp or 100XL?
How about the effects in a box? I've got an amp already!
What happened to this amp? It seems to have been discontinued already.
I was expecting Rick Hines to do this video. He has fantastic hair.
Really sad fender discontinued it, would've loved to get one brand new out of the box.
Is there spring reverb on this?
Crunch2 all the way👍
Where are the hi-res demos?
I don't know because I do not hear,
But doesn't CZcams audio suck?
Can I play my electric acoustic on this amp?
i kinda wish the smaller ones had a mid knob
I was looking and I didn't notice that there was just a Reverb why do you need other stuff with the Reverb?
Are you only playing out of 1 speaker at any given time?
I own 2.5 tube amps (one's a hybrid), and I want this thing pretty bad.
I want simplify my rig for the price this is awesome
How do the Champion XL50 and XL100 differ from the Champion 40 and 100 respectively? Do they obsolete the older amps?
Good question. I have the Mustang II 40 watt myself and even though it was made in 2016 and packed full of great features, I wonder if mine is old hat now lol. You can never keep up or you just have to trade in every 6 months or so smh.
No. Think of the Champions as Mustangs, but for people who prefer knobs over apps and displays. Basically, they're the same, but the Mustang has way more options.
@wildebest yes but for some people they are. Speaking for myself I keep amps for many years, like you said much of the features are the same. However, as technology progresses so will the software, wireless capabilities, sounds, effects, etc. I guess it depends on how much money you have, how far down the rabbit hole you want to go, and if having the latest tech is imperative. To each their own.
People, I was asking Fender to compare the new Champion 50XLand 100XL to the existing Champion 40 and 100. I know the difference between Champion amps and Mustang amps, and the Mustangs are completely irrelevant to my question.
@@amirkhalid5449 I brought up Mustang only as an example of how there is an evolution of amps, regardless of model, so as each one is released it can or will render prior models "obsolete" with the features, electronics, and power band. That's it. Sorry if you felt my input was irrelevant.
Is it ok for a metalband?
Owwww ❤❤❤
I got a fender hot rod deluxe a little bit ago. I’m thinking maybe
I have a hot rod deluxe too. In my opinion, you'd be better off keeping the HRD deluxe and spending the money on pedals for the effects you like the sound of, as the clean and distortion tones sound better to me on the HRD. As you'd expect, for an amp that costs nearly twice as much. The HRD is an excellent platform for pedals according to a lot of people (I wouldn't know; I don't use pedals).
What is the difference between 100 and 100 xl?
We need a hand-wired Princeton Reverb, please.
Totally agree
NAM 2020 released :)
test 123test I saw! I’m excited for more demos and will hopefully pick one up soon.
Is this amp better than mustang?
The dial only says "Clean", so how do you know it's the deluxe or twin amp sound? Does it come with a guide book for all the position settings? Otherwise, how the hell do we know what sound it is?
twin, i believe
Yes it comes with this manual.
www.fmicassets.com/Damroot/Original/10001/OM_23306XX000_Champion_100XL_EU.pdf
Does it work well with pedals and multi effects
Late reply but its a toss up meaning which pedal and guitar. I think on the safe side using individual pedals would be the way. I use a Boss OD2 and it does well. Hooked an old digitech RP250 thru it and some of the features sound pretty decent. Be sure and go thru a clean channel as always.
You think it's worth $60 more for the celestion speakers or would u save the extra $ to get a fuzz pedal to go with the regular champion 100?????????.......??????????😎 I was thinking that the only difference aside fro spkr upgrade would be maybe upgrades to the distortion side of things??!!
Can somebody tell me what’s the
Difference between champion 100 and 100xl I really want to know
The speakers
Cool amp but bring the mod shop to Europe and also, make a high gain amp!
m4ssee the bassbreaker has incredible high gain sounds !
Why i have bought boss katana... i like this more.. Need 50 XL. Although i have still champion 20 :)
is there a one size smaller model of this amp?
Fender Champion 50XL
Tried to find out online if the clean channel preamp is all analog solid state and could not find any info. Anyone know?
The amp was discontinued.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Does anyone know the difference between this and the standard champion 100?
This one's XL
:D
Different speakers
I have a Champion 100 and the only difference so far I can tell is the look, different speakers and the XL is $50 more on Musicians Friend.
The speakers on the Champion 100 sound good once you break them in. It has a lot of volume and fine for small to medium venues.
For the smallest moment I thought Heston Blumenthal had changed careers
The only fatal flaw to this amp is the 3.5 headphone jack, why wouldn't they go with a quarter inch argh. The touch wah is pretty flimsy too but overall I love this amp.
What is the name of the riff he plays in 0:29 min?
it's called 'a riff'
If you like this sound, then you will love it in person. CZcams compresses the sound, and then you have the last filter which is your speakers. I always listen to reviews with headphones but make my final discussion after I play it and get to hear and feel what the amp can do.
SuperJiggawhat wow what a revelation!
@@DARYLMELVIN Wow, what a douche.
Ofcourse, only trying an amp in person is the only way to go. You will never "feel" an amp through your headphones. Much like pussy, you can never beat the real thing...ever.
I agree bro. I can't wait to try this badboy out tomorrow. It's being shipped through Amazon Prime and if I don't like it I'll ship it right back free shipping! I'm not crazy about Katana or mustang amps where you have to hook up a computer to tweak etc.
Very sad with no footswitch in 50 watt version
The lack of dynamics, it's disturbing. Look at 7.48, you hit that hard, but you don't get that sound from it. I love Fender, as i hav a 50's Strat and a Fender tube amp too, but this it's like kind of anemic in the clean section.
basically the champion 100 but cooler
on the speakers and loudness, yeah, on the look, i like the 100 more
I got to have my low mids in the clean channel. I play both single Coils and Humbuckers.
Phishboy26 go buy some low mids then
@@DARYLMELVIN This is why amps like the BOSS KATANA and BOSS NEXTONE have made this amp it's bitch. The gain channel has clean models with a midrange control. That means you just added a unusable Clean channel
That price 👀
I’m trying to get closer to a Kurt cobain sound and my dad gifted me a marshmal 25 code amp and well I struggle bc of the coding part of it I would much rather have a solid state and i Know Kurt used a solid state finder amp sooooo yeah welp ik what I want for Christmas!!! Lol! 😂😂😂
why has fender discontinued this amp?
I think so
I love fender guitars. I own a strat and a tele. But somehow i dont like fender amps. I'm more to marshall. Is there any fender amp that "sounds" like marshall?
Get a mustang GTX
IOW, no there's not.
Personally, the Mustang GT works better for me. This amp locks you in to a very narrow effects path where the Mustang offers a massive pallet of customization. I get, however, that some don’t want the ‘fuss’ involved. I think Fender has done a really poor job of #1, setting up most of the initial tones in the Mustang GT (which has turned a lot of potential buyers off at first listen - ‘angry bees in a box’) and #2, offering detailed vids of the way each ‘patch’ can be customized to suit what’s needed. There is without a doubt some simply unusable stuff in there, but if you take the time to dial in what works - the GT can offer quite a few smile-inducing WOW tones. Even on the tiny GT40.
Is the 2x12 worth it? I am between the new GTX and the Champion 100XL. I like the speakers over the mustangs 1.. I’m essentially needing an affordable option to give me that “vintage Fender Twin” tone.
WOW a lot of amp for a little money!! I want...
Why no mids pot on clean channel? Same on my Champion 100...
Same on the '65 Deluxe Reverb. It's like having the mids pot on 12 o'clock, if you want more you take back the Bass and Treble, you crank them if you want the Mids scooped.
use the Jazz setting in the 2nd channel , its a true solid state setting no emulation
Because the engineer thought having a mid control was a dumbass idea.
Hmm.... not a fan of FX loop, auxiliary & foot switch on the front panel.
I wish the FX loop was on the front of all my amps.
sad this amp never came out, would have probly baught it.
My budget is 500 dollars and I usually play relatively clean what should I get for a at home/gigging amp?
Orange crush pro(60) or fender champion 50xl or 100
@@AL-oj8dt I've pushed my budget a bit and I think I'll go with the Fender Blues Jr.
@@AL-oj8dt Thank you though
Jimbo Carrino np
@@AL-oj8dt Okay I looked at the Orange and Idk even know anymore lol
It’s a good amp, but I prefer the Mustang amps better
Very muddy the settings on channel 2.
Not the Studio Preamp setting; Fender needs to make an amp based on that, a completely uncolored tone.
I click on a fender video...... and of course he plays the SAME riffs
There are far better reviews than those "guide".
Are all cool reviewer has an invisible pick?
You can clearly see his pick at 00:13 & 00:53
Imran Rashid RIP english
just sold my line 6 IV and this one is on the way , sounds like i made a good decision, the line 6 sucked with pedals, hope the xl does not!
No fucking comprende

A little plastic sound :( Sounds like the first mustang amps... The distortion channel sounds as a bee box... I´m a Fender fan !! I have a Deluxe Reverb, one champ 10 , one Mustang III V2 and a twin !
It sounds like the tone master! No thanks, I’ll stay with the 65’ twin with real tubes.
I got it and this thing is loud as fu*k
Torn between the xl or the regular 100 hard to get an answer on the difference besides the speakers
For the money I think the xl is worth it
@@kristiandimitrov9658 ty
Since you're playing a Strat, it would be nice to hear some single coil tones too, instead of the HB all the time. How stupid!
Knobs, yuck
Ur a knob.😁
His mom likes knobs.
Control panel looks so watered down and ugly. Very basic knobs etc.
Why are they always combos 🙄 start making more heads fender!
Why?
@@misterknightowlandco Cheaper and takes up less space, I don't want to pay for 2 celestians when I already have a 4x12, things are always back breakers too. It's a personal thing I just really hate combos lol different strokes for different folks I guess lol
@@NateMchaggis to each their own. If I was a professional and had a cab I loved, I'd agree. Im just a guy who records songs I come write with friends and family and never play out. I like the all in one. You get a new cab and new speakers every time you buy an amp! For some like me, a head and cab just means extra shit to buy that needs new cords. 😆. Does Fender even make a head anymore for anything besides the bassbreaker series?
@@misterknightowlandco The supersonic 22 is really good, it also comes in a combo.
@@NateMchaggis Because a cab and speakers designed for the amp will always have the best, most, consistent, and predictable results. Besides Fender's legacy in the amp arena is the combo.
I have around 20 amps, most combos and about 4 heads. After much trial and error I have found which cabs work best with each head and I stick with it. They may as well be combos at that point.
I think I’m so used to watching smaller independent people make vids that this type of stuff is just no fun at all.
You can feel the corporate shit that comes with all these vids.
I understand your point of view, and you are right - it's not fun. But they are doing a demonstration of their product, not a show :)
"And here's the '65 Twin sound with the gain up." LMMFAO, I nearly spit out my drink!
Hey Fender clowns, if I'm gonna buy Chinese anyway, I'll spend the $450 you want for this on one of the MANY 20-50 watt Chinese tube amps out there.
