I'm so happy someone finally showed what the actual voices are I've been so confused.
I bought this thinking as a great substitute to a twin reverb........I was planning on saving for one and selling my champion 100 after, but when this bad boy arrived ........I just decided to stick with this until I can't anymore, great amp
Hi guy's, I bought a Fender Champion 100, that is what guy said was a good amp at Guitar Center. I am 68, and trying to teach myself to play. I am 100 % disabled Vet, and using guitar to help with my PTSD. What I can not do is change from one channel to other. Guy didn't tell me shit at store, and there is not any books to help me figure amp out.
There's a white channel select button between the two channels on the control face, or you can use the foot switch.
The super champ x2 is a very good amp if you ever consider it.
I hope the guitar can bring the peace of mind you search! It's an awesome hobby/profession. It is a good amp! For your purpose (learning, doing gigs) is superb! Best regards.
Enjoy buddy, great amp!
thank you for your service sir i am currently trying to teach myself to play and i am 7 years in and i hope the best for your playing sir rock on 🤘
I know everyone thinks this amp has shitty OD sounds, but trust me it doesn't, IF you know how to set it correctly. The only voicings I use on the OD channel are the Bassman and 2000s metal, however, I don't play metal, I play blues. If you set it correctly (don't dump the mids out, keep everything around 6, with bass on 10) and gain on 10, you can get killer, killer, tones. Turn the volume down on your guitar to clean up, don't use the gain knob. And you can tone all the way from a 60s Plexi sound to a 70s Super lead, to a Van Halen 5150 tone, all using volume. And on the Bassman setting, don't crank the gain, keep it around 6 maximum, otherwise it gets really ear bleedingly treblely. Just for reference, I have a 1993 Fender MIJ 1972 Reissue Strat, with some kind of Dimarzio single coil in the bridge. A Epiphone 1961 Les Paul Custom Reissue. And a Squier Classic Vibe 50s Tele. I also use no pedals, this amp doesn't seem to like pedals being put in front of it, at least OD pedals. I have played everything from Hendrix to Metallica, and its fantastic.
Ethridge thank you man
Hey man, do you have any more tips? I would be happy to hear! Cheers!
Now this guy knows what's up. Any amp can sound great with the right EQ!
I wanna mess around with the British voicing and find a nice Orange-esque tone.
I run a strat through a boss overdrive and bigg muff on the clean channel and to me it feels great and sounds great. You can feel those deep vibrations
This amp just arrived in the post today. It's worth it for the Princeton model alone, sounds bloody fantastic with a soul food in front of it.
Owl Smasher your profile picture is brilliant
Does it sound muddy?
@@soulvaccination8679 No
That’s my favorite champ setting. The Princeton kicks ass!
Great demo, Zed! I also appreciate you repeating the riffs with each amp sound so that we can hear a true A/B comparison of the amp's modeling capabilities. Well done, and thanks!
Only good review I've seen online of all the sounds. Thanks you.
No..mine is a better review on this amp.I do the demo with a candy apple red Telecaster American Standard.Just go to Dickheadguitarscom.
@@soulvaccination8679 alright mate, whatever you say, shame that website doesnt exist
@@nightraven5760 you checked!🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂
@@soulvaccination8679 Of course lmfao, gotta know all i can bout the amp!
@@soulvaccination8679 Plus your english was so shite in that i thought it was gonna be some really crappy demo and have a laugh lol
I forgot i was watching a demo and zoned out listening to your playing by the time i got to the effects part, going to have to watch again, lovely stuff Ethridge.
:-)
I use the jazz setting with my pedals and it sounds great for finger picking and ambient style stuff
+Leonard Crainie yep, I agree with that! Sounds good!
would you say this is a better amp than a front man 212r?
@@thomasleverton998 hell yeh
@@chopperking007 How does it compare to a Katana 100 ? 1x12
@@roninslv katana good but i think the champs a bit more versatile...
Thanks for the demo my friend, very clear and straight to the point. Cheers.
I bought mine in March 2018 love it! Great fender sound
I just got mine this week, pulled the trigger after watching your video. Thanks for the crash course and the great video!! Love all your gear! You have great taste my dude !!

First of all, killer playing man. Very inspiring brother. And it took me to realize but it’s all done with a Squier. I love it. I always say it’s not the tool, it’s the player. Thank you for such a great demo of this amp. Best one I’ve seen by far. I’m not understanding why these amps aren’t as pushed or talked about as they should be. Sound incredible. You just made my decision for me. Thanks again. Appreciate the time you put in.
Thanks mate, have fun playin‘!
Thanks so much for doing this, perfect demo/review. I've had this amp for about a year and haven't been able to figure it out as clearly as you've shown. Probably because I'm not a very good player, but I try :). Thank you!
thanks mate!
absolutely loved the tweed deluxe effect!!!
I love the jazz tones.
Awesome work on this. Very thorough.
Nice demo, great playing and a sweet amp!
Awesome playing and great demonstration! Very helpful. Thanks!
this is the best review of this amp
Thanks mate!
Thanks for your post and your patience!
Thanks for the interesting and useful demo. Old vid but a goodie. I've had this amp since mid 2018, but hadn't seen your vid previously. I can't speak highly enough of this amp. For all American Fender tones but particularly the cleans IMV this will suffice for all but the cashed up and fanatically purist. In terms of bang for the buck of what and how it delivers, it's unbeatable. Much as I don't want to praise Fender because of their regional price gouging outside the USA, I have to give this amp a two thumbs up. And did I mention it can do LOUD!? VERY LOUD.
Great Video. Good playing for sure. So many players think these aren't viable because of the price- but listen to these tones.
Hi I have a champion 40...is this just a louder version ...is there a difference in sounds if played on a lower volume as I only play at home.
65' Deluxe sounds the best for me
How does he get the distortion like that. I don’t know the treble mid or bass levels that he is using and I need help
Thank you so much - excellent review !!! Your review made me ordering the Champion 100 :-)
How did you like it?
LoudBox Music thanks! I have not try out this amp yet, but i will do it soon, do you think i can get a cleanish frusciante sound out of it??
Thanks so much for making this vid. I never have gotten through all of the possibilities with mine! This is great!
Yes, lots of tones and sounds to play with! :)
man.... this guy can play
great demo-thanks
great demo, thank you!
I know this is an old video but I currently go to a studio and it has this amp. Any advice what’s settings best for nirvana type sound. I spend most of the time messing with the sound than actually playing :(
3 Minutes In I Was Thinking "Is This Guy Really Gonna Play The Same Riff Over and Over?"
The only way to really test dynamics and sounds of the voices, if you change the riffs, then you dont really know how exactly compare to esch other.
Haha...that was 3 years ago...and rumour has it...he is still playing the same riff...bahaha
13:58 Stevie Ray Vaughn: Pride And Joy.
How does the amp take EFX pedals? Culd you do a video with your pedal board for example?
would you recommend plugging keyboard into this amp? I play live keyboard and guitar and need a go to amp to plug both and I love the sound of this amp.
i have a dean razorback and a boss2 metalzone, can i thrash on this amp with my equipment?
I like the guitar playing on this video so much, I'm glad someone's comment brought me back. As for the amp, Fender's taken much of the work out of trying to find a variety of usable tones on a solid state amp. Basically it's the clean channel, then the same voicing on the OD side, run through circuitry to add/subtract brightness and distortion (not a fan of the distortion.) The real payoff is when you learn how to add effects to these voicings, and how Fender got it right by putting modulation before time-based effects. That's knowledge the player can take with them, when they're setting up their pedal boards.
By the way I'm asking because I'm looking for a decent solid state that can take effect pedals and I'm between this and the peavey Envoy
I Will buy that guitar amp but Can i set it in a other AMP i have a Line 6 spider 15 do you Think that
Excellent review! Just wondering, does the pre out output can go to recording or mixer?
Thank you so much! Very helpful video
Damn Zed, :43 to 1:02 is some seriously good stuff. Thanks for the quality demo of the Champion 100 as well. Now please teach me/us how to play the :43 to 1:02 boogie...
the best review champion100
+Alexandre Travi thanks Alexandre!
Can you get kinda like the SRV tone out of this amp
Can someone tell me if you can mix the Effects at the same time? Like a pedalboard.
what is the main songs name
perfect demo
Blackface sounds magnificent. Great demo! Thx
Thanks mate!
Right is this amp compatible with a semi acoustic guutar
ONCE AGAIN ANOTHER DAM GOOD AMP BY FENDER !@! I JUST PICKED UP A USED 1 MORE MINT THAN BRAND NEW FROM REVERB , EVEN CAME WITH CASTERS AND A COVER , $245 AND FREE SHIPPING , THE SELLER MUST HAVE REALLY WANTED 2 SELL HER BAD AT A PRICE LIKE THAT !! SOUNDS BEAUTIFUL , ALL PRESETS WORK GREAT , NOT A THING WRONG WITH HER AND MY FENDER NASHVILLE TELECASTERS SOUND PHENOMENAL THRU IT !!
Hey Ron, assuming you've plugged in the supplied foot switch, when you press the "channel' button, that changes channels. The effect button turns effects on or off.The idea is you can play a passage of music using 1 sound .ie channel & change to a different sound (channel) when required, yeah customer service doesn't exist in some places, good luck mate, Rog from Australia.
very good zed
To me everything sounds good when you crank it to 11 and run a few pedals through this amp. It can get stupid loud if you're in a medium size shop or pub.
Thanks for the video! It sounds a little cheap to me, though . I don't know if it's because of the guitar or it's really the amp.
Can you get the Texas twang/srv tone with it?
The best amp on the market, Fender Champion 100.
Does this amp sound really good ?
GOOD DEMO KEEP ON PLAYIN' !!!!
thanks man!
Hey man! Great demo! Would it work well with a full pedalboard which includes delays, reverb, od, compressor, etc?
Sure! Have currently just 4 pedals, but it works great!
Is it loud enough to jam with drums ?
Great review bro.
How does this amp mesh with a pedal board!????
Great playing, man! I just ordered this amp and I'm really excited about it! Im only playing two months, so this s a big step up for me.
BTW, I was wondering if you upgraded the pickups in that Squire...I mean if not, and it sounds this good, my MIM Straocaster may sound even better.
+JPSovereignStrikes Thanks mate!! Great, it's a really nice amp! No I didn't upgrade the pickups so far.
What’s the song at 12:50
Great video, just ordered myself one :)
Thanks! Great, have fun!
did you ever test the Vox Av15 or 60?
I own the fender. I didn't know the blackface had 4 different sounds!
No, didn’t have the chance to test the Vox so far.
The first 3 blackface amps sound great dude ^w^
I actual just ordered a behringer tube monster for this amp in mind maybe I should do a video with the two..
LoudBox Music the distortion does't sound that good on my champion 100, do u have any suggestions?
a specific Voice tone or overall? I tend to push the treble quite a bit and dial the mids a little down.
I love my Champion 40. The Fender Twin with the gain on 10 and a little delay/reverb is the sweetest tone you can buy anywhere for under $180.
Is it loud enough for band rehearsal?
Depends on the drummer and bass player. It SHOULD be loud enough. Practicing/rehearsal doesn't need to be a high volume affair. Getting the beginnings and endings of sonds or going through an entire set doesn't require full tilt boogie volume. Redefining rehearsal should be a priorty if you your band actually gets gigs. Using 2 of these on gigs is an option as well. One clean and one dirty. I like the tone of ALL SS amps better at low and moderate volumes.
Texturas75 I have used it with a loud as hell drummer with the clean ch on 10 with a boss ds1 in front of it and it's plenty loud enough
Thanks Joey and Aidan!
Does it take pedals? Im having problems connecting my EHX Bad stone, it makes a noise when I turn it on.
Yes, it‘s ok. I have a digitech screamin‘ blues which adds quite a bit if gain - it gets indeed a little noiser but when played you can‘t hear it.
Cool to review with a Squier Guitar, a lot of people do not want to spend so expensive money in guitars and amps, i think this is a good combination.......It rocks........i have the same setup and sometimes i use a overdrive Pedal of Boss before
How do you control the wah? Do you use Footswitch or tap tempo button or is it automatical?
Automatic Wah
Do you like this amp as well as a tube amp? Like say the Marshall sitting on top of it? Thank you for your great playing! Enjoyed hearing you!
Is that the amp fuzzing or. The audio of the vid/mic
Probably mainly the fault of the single coil pickups in that strat, as opposed to the amp.
Helpful
Will these put out enough volume for band practice and medium gigging?
Yes. I brought it to rehearsal a week ago, turned it up to 4/5 and was louder than a double-kick-cymbal-bashing drummer. It also has plenty of headroom on the clean channel so you can turn it up pretty loud without breaking up the sound.
Rocking vid
Fender Twin/'65Deluxe/Princetone=LOVE
Marshall? get a REAL ONE!
Anyway i have this Fender and it's a great amp for a budget.
I just bought the same amp and when I use the headphones to listen to what I play it sounds a lot different from the sound without the headphones, you know why?
The headphone output on guitar amps is usually a direct feed just from the amp section, sometimes with a simulated loudspeaker/cabinet sound. It is more or less only good for practising. Generally, the loudspeaker and the cabinet actually create the distinct sound of a guitar amplifier.
Hey all, what is the best VOICE to use as far as cutting through, like during practice. I play punk rock! Thanks!
SKONJIE I think the best voice for punk on it is 2000’s metal, or pedals through the clean channel.
Hey man! Great video! Btw what microphone are you using, because i think the kind of mic will also affect the tones which we hear post-production, isnt it?
Sure, mic is a big part! I used fairly cheap ones, if I remember correctly it was a JTS PDM3 (SM58 knock off) and a t.bone RB100 Ribbon.
@Zed Marty Production Any chance you can try and make it sound like "Bullet For My Valentine"?
thank you LBMUSİC this video is very very good
Great demo, in this demo are you using your pedal effects as well or is it straight amp settings?
thanks! No pedals, only the effects of the amp.
The Champion 100 is on my short list of amps I'm considering for my next purchase along with the VOX AC30VR, Peavey Valve King 212 and Classic 50, Fender Mustang III, Bugera BC30, and a few others. My style is psych rock and generally old school rock, with most of my distortion (more fuzz than overdrive or metal distortion) and effects coming from pedals, so I'm hoping for decent tube-like crunch, a good full and loud tone and a nice washy reverb. I don't care much how "metal" it is. I'm hoping the Champ 100 would be a good choice for a low cost solid state amp for the kind of music I play.
Don't get a mustang, they're cheap crap. The champion should replace the mustang in that list. The mustang shouldn't even be there. Hopefully that makes your choice easier.
What additional pedal effects would you recommend buying for this amp?
+Jonathan Rojas I would recommend a Compressor pedal like the Digitech Main Squeeze or the Boss CS-3 and maybe a Distortion pedal like the Big Muff or a Digitech Screamin' Blues.
What's the crabwalk you're doing with your hands at 2:43?
crawfish by nirvana
When going through the voices where is your gain set
Super sonic voice gain on 2 and a quarter and volume on 7 is one hell of a tone
Is it good for being used with a multieffects?
Oh sorry another guy already asked the same, so it seems it's also good for multieffects
I can't find any info on the footswitch. Does it allow you to go through several different presets or is it just two sounds and that's it? The rest has to be done on the face of the amp???
Left button switches between channel 1 & 2, right button switches effects on/off. Voices and effects have to be set on the amp itself.
Could you suggest a Fender Amp 2x12 with a footswitch like the Line6? I like to have at least 3 channel selections, clean, dirt, lead
This convinced me to buy one and I just rocked the fuck out. Thanks for the video, dude. 👍
+Shoenice's Motel Room Great, have fun!!
Does the wah effect use the footswitch?
No, it's an auto-wah and it responds to the playing.
I'm wanting a big loud clean tone, no break up. I play math rock and need something with a good thick clean tone. Would you recommend this amp or do you have any other recommendations?
The Clean channel and also the Jazz voice sound pretty good. You can play them roaring loud without any noticeable distortion. It also has plenty of low end and if you want more control of the frequencies you can always connect a EQ pedal in front of it. So I guess it would be a quite good choice. I would suggest you just try it out in your local music store and see if it works for you.
Thanks for the video man! Just what I needed! I'm getting one of these for Christmas and I wanted to know all of the sounds. A couple of questions.- how loud does this amp go and what are the dimensions like the weight and size!! Thanks.
40 pounds. Not sure how loud it goes but seems pretty loud tho someone said with headphones it's not as loud they the headphones
The volume goes up to 10.
Hands down the best review of this amp in my opinion as every voicing is played in a way that compliments them (not so much for the metal settings, but I'd imagine that pure metalheads look somewhere else for an amp). I was halfway sold on the Champion 100 but this video confirmed that I want one =D
Thanks! Have fun with it!
