I'm a FAN of Mother Teresa and wrote many Poems and Songs Releasing as Cassets for the Devotees of That MOTHER of Poorest of the Poor! But i failed to Know about Great FATHER DAMIEN later on! Who dedicated his Life for the Upliftment of Poor LEPERS! BOTH are my ROLE MODELS!
The only comment that reflects my feelings. In our privileged modern world, we forget how harsh conditions could be in the past. The only alternative, at a time when there was no treatment, was to let it spread to everyone. My other thought is that white colonizers must have brought the disease. They were the source of the suffering. Like the colonizers of the Americas who brought diseases (and at least sometimes spread them intentionally) that killed most of the indigenous people.
A person like Father Damien is a true hero,what an amazing man and an example to us all.
