Today I'm going to attempt to solve this level 9 Straight Edge razor Puzzle by David Litwin. The goal here is to open it and then close it. I'll also be attempting to solve the Identrick Puzzle by Tomas Linden and designed by Visa Timonen. The goal here is to create two identical pieces using the three pieces supplied..

See? It's a math problem, not meant to be a physical puzzle. Someone saw a math problem in a book and thought they could just make it into a physical puzzle... lol yeah no. It sucks.
Nothing about the razor is level 9. The creator never calls it that. He made it originally as an exchange puzzle for IPP37 in Paris a few years ago. It was a puzzle to give away in exchange for a puzzle in return.
No way in hell it had anything like level 9 workmanship if its an exchange puzzle.
Not to mention the creator never calls it level anything, for that matter. Much less level 9. 🤷🏻♂️ Did you not hear Chris when he called it "level 9"? He was obviously exaggerating it's difficulty. IIRC, he even said it wasn't a level 9 puzzle right after that.
So it makes perfect sense for the 2nd puzzle to be more difficult than that one. The razor's difficulty is equal to the horseshoes attached to each other with chain that have a ring stuck in the center and you have to get the ring off. Or the twisted nails. Or the "balance x amount of nails on a single nail". Literally the easiest puzzles they make.

pls re do that wood dark and light puzzle i dont think you got it right if both light and dark have to match.
Go to his twitter he posted the solutions from the company and the pieces aren't even supposed to touch in THEIR solution so everyone is pretty sure now that the instructions are not translated properly from the original swedish language they came in because the solution has NOTHING to do with 2 shapes. It's got all pieces as singles and if you rotate them on 30 degree angles then the match if you overlay them. It's completely confusing and not at all what anyone would do given the instructions include in the package as they are. @chrisramsey i believe is his twitter and it's right after the French point picture. Take a look and you'll be shocked !! One of the above comments has a direct link to the twitter feed in it about halfway down in the comments of you want to just click and go.

From puzzle master; “The goal is to create a shape of mirrored symmetry. The solution will have two mirrored identical halves, one dark and one light. The solved state will include space in between the pieces. Use your imagination to draw a line down the centre of your solved shape to create the symmetrical dark and light halves. All pieces lay flat and not on top of eachother. “
So he didnt finish it basically.
This makes more sense to my brain. Them instructions he read made zero sense, like negative sense to me. Now I want of these puzzles.
I totally should have thought of that since I've played all the Professor Layton games twice and thats been a thing a few times. Can't believe I didn't think of that. Looking back at the video I was able to instantly get one solution for it.

@@TheZombieslasha Put the dark ends of the two sticks together so you have one long stick that has two light ends and a dark middle. Now put the dark middle of that along the top the of the T piece so that the center of the dark piece aligns with the center of the T piece. Now you have to imagine that there's a line down the middle of the whole shape. The rules never said the mirror image has to go along with the sides of the pieces. Incase that doesn't make sense, imagine if you only have the T piece. Now cut it in half down the middle of it top to bottom. Now you have two mirrored pieces. Make sense?
That's a cool puzzle and really unique, hope to see more like this 👍

For the wooden puzzle - at 8:00 connect the remaining piece (in his right hand) to the vertical light piece near the timer and bam now you’ve got two cigarette looking shapes! Thats my guess to the solution.

About the 2 shapes puzzle. You were supposed to make 1 light shape and 1 dark shaping, meaning all dark pieces need to connect and so do the light pieces.

The puzzle is in the wording. It doesn't exactly say that the two shapes need to exist simultaneously.
Sorry guys.. you are all wrong.. go to his twitter feed and he posted the solution from the company and those three pieces don't even touch each other in the solution !! It's not at all what you think. The translation of the instructions from swedish got completely screwed up and the part about "2 identical shapes" is incorrect. Their solution is based on the pieces at specific angles around a circle and it doesn't even look like they are the same until you look at the measurements of the angles and diameters of the circles... it's like a mathematical solution more than a visual one and it's frustrating as hell. He even says in his twitter post about the solution that the puzzle SUCKS because of it. Very confusing puzzle and NOT the solution ANYONE would come up with based on those instructions.

Revisit the dark and light Finnish wooden puzzle, which you did not solve, and solve both the the clear-blue puzzle and the dovetail.

About that Light and dark Puzzle: the translation to the word shape is misleading. A shape describes one inclosed thing like a polygon. The Swedish word can also be translated to Configuration, or even something like ensemble in a different context. In the solution there's gaps in-between the pieces. They don't touch at all.
Btw you can make a poll on your video so that people can actually make a proper vote

Agreed, I dont feel it was solved properly on this video.
All the solves are stupid as the instructions were a hundred percent translated incorrectly. It's literally impossible to make two identical shapes with the pieces touching, none of the pieces touch in any of the four solutions.

If he thought that was an actual solution, he obviously doesn't think much of it. I think it's just because the directions weren't clearly stated, so he doesn't like or understand it.
I did and tried to solve it... But it seems that the instructions on what would be the solution are incorrect. I didn't want to give up and then I found one "solution" which used rotation of slabs and they weren't touching each other.

The wooden puzzle perfectly stated that you needed to make two shapes, one is a dark shape and one is a light shape, and they had to be the exact same shape. You did not solve the wooden puzzle

@Jyezi what do you mean how 4 shapes? That's how he left the puzzle. Pause at 11:28, there's a light rectangle on top, a dark shape below it comprised of the 2 dark sections, a light shape below that which is again comprised of the 2 light pieces and it forms the exact same shape as the dark one above it, just rotated. Lastly the dark rectangle at the bottom is the exact size and shape as the light rectangle on top, just rotated. There are 4 shapes, 2 light and 2 dark, that are identical but rotated.
Go for Jigsaw mate... And yes you didn't solved the light/dark puzzle..

I dont think you solved that 2nd puzzle correctly because it says 2 shapes that are each 1 color, and you had 2 shapes that were 2 colors, also the shapes werent identical that you had anyways

It's not at ALL what anyone would think of as a solution to this and the instructions he was given are totally wrong. Go check it out on his twitter.

The light and dark puzzle needs ONE dark shape and ONE light shape. Your solution had TWO dark shapes and TWO light shapes. Not a valid solution. Drink coffee, try again.
Edit: Apparently, after some research, this puzzle is unsolvable according to the provided instructions. However, your solution remains incorrect according to the proper instructions as deciphered by the good people on reddit: redd.it/ax72j2
Not just that, but the detached dark piece is on a short light part, and the detached light piece is on a long dark part. So it's not even symmetrical.

Chris the second puzzle... You see the "T" shape... The longer piece should go on top of the T making the V shape that you had... thats how you get the identical pieces...
