- Today I'm going to attempt to solve the "Ouch" Puzzle by Akio Kamei and Osamu Kasho. "This foot represents a unique Japanese story.
Japanese people walk around their house without shoes on. So they sometimes hit their pinky toe against the corner of a piece of furniture in the room.
Someone declared, "I want to change the pain to laughter when I hit my foot on the corner of furniture".

the Japanese karakuri are usually made to store valuable items in the hidden compartments
that's why the puzzles are on the easier side and it looks nice cuz people also use it as decoration

Remember what I said before, regarding those expensive Japanese puzzles - For the "Rare Japanese Bear Puzzle", I noted - "The simplicity of this expensive puzzle is probably due to the differences in Japanese logic and cultural mores. After having lived in Japan for over 2 years, I can guess that the puzzle maker has designed this puzzle to be more of a decoration than an actual, say, level 10 frustrating experience. For the Japanese, selling an item for a high price and making it impossible for ALL the purchasers to solve it would create a "lack of face" scenario for both the puzzle maker and the buyer."

Foot looks cool... And I am so glad you got the cake and solved it! It was the first Hanayama puzzle I bought and it took a while for me to solve and reassemble, but a great puzzle!
